except for the fact they can't shoot!
The Jazz will be one of the deepest teams in the NBA next year, and hopefully get more our of their starting lineup than the pitiful 13 games last year.
Hopefully Hood will be on the bench and Favors on another team by the end of the year
And quite frankly, I think the Jazz ought to view 2017-18 as a year in which to evaluate for the future to see which players will fit into the long term plans and which ones may need to be reevaluated. So many of them, such as Derrick Favors, Rodney Hood and Dante Exum, have a severe need to re-solidify their worth this season and given that Utah
Hayward was a very good defender, but the Jazz can make up for his loss on that end. Ingles, Hood and newly acquired Thabo Sefolosha gives them enough wings to hold down the spot.
now Hood defends too?
Utah was 4th in defensive rebounding and Rubio will help them stay there if not improve it
will miss Hayward there
Rubio will become Utah’s primary ball handler in pick-and-rolls. Expect Joe Ingles to still run some of his sexy secondary pick-and-rolls.
An where does that leave Hood who needs the ball in his hands. 6th man
Rubio will form a mean pick-and-roll tandem with Gobert. The Jazz have enough shooting around them
Ingles is enough?
Gobert could have a career high in points this year. He will get so many easy looks. Rubio’s passing and ability to dictate pace are perfect for Utah.
The defense will pack it in the paint with lack of shooters. Rudy did what he did last year with the floor spread
Utah will have to make up for it by adding more shooting around him. That means Favors probably won’t start at the 4.
You'd think but they added no shooters other than their 5th big! Favors starts. Have to showcase him to trade him. Too bad he won't have shooters around him so he can do his things
Most times, the Jazz will only keep one true big on the floor.
Except for the 15 minutes or so Favors plays with Rudy. Udoh is supposed to be able to play the 4 as well. The wings can't shoot either though!
A starting five of Rubio, Hood, Ingles, Jerekbo and Gobert is solid. They are also deep with Johnson, Favors, Mitchell and Sefolosha coming off the bench.
Jonas isn't playing until they trade Favors and Johnson. Mitchel is an unproven rookie. Sefolosha should be an end of the bench defensive specialist. At least you didn't mention Exum!
If I had to choose 8...
Rudy Gobert - no explanation needed here
Donovan Mitchell - massive wingspan, ridiculous vertical leap, great speed/quickness with high upside
Joe Ingles - solid glue guy and the best 3 and D player on the roster
Ricky Rubio - best passer and point guard on the team, can run the offense
Dante Exum - still young and athletic with a lot of potential
Rodney Hood - good catch-and-shoot threat, potential as a #2 scoring option
Derrick Favors - when healthy, he produces at an all star level
Jonas Jerebko - good versatility and all around game
Just missed the cut: Joe Johnson (I love his game, but youth is more important moving forward), Thabo Sefolosha (already had a lot of wings, needed a 3rd big), Ekpe Udoh (Jerebko offers a more versatile game than Udoh), Alec Burks (I love the guy, but he hasn

unless winning is important to you I guess
Adi Joseph of USA Today ranked all 30 NBA teams by how much Kyrie Irving could help them. He put the Jazz at number three, in “the best fits” tier.
Hard to imagine an easier move here. The Jazz would have to give up recently acquired Ricky Rubio along with likely Rodney Hood, one of Donovan Mitchell or Dante Exum and a pick. But that hefty price would probably be worth it for a team with major offensive problems. The thing about this move is that it doesn’t seem like something the Jazz would do — they’ve built their entire team identity around defense and depth and would be sacrificing both.
Not sure I'd want to give up Mitchell. Everyone else except him and Gobert
"Utah lost both Gordon Hayward and George Hill in free agency, but retained Ingles by signing him to one of the best deals of the summer," wrote Engelmann. "While he doesn't dazzle with elite athleticism, Ingles simply plays smart basketball as a quasi-point forward in the Jazz's system. He averaged 4.1 assists per 36 minutes and, on the defensive end, had a respectable steal rate of 1.8 per 36 minutes."
Can he do more at 30-34 though? They need big minutes and more from him at the price they paid and I'm not sure he has any more to give them
