Re: 2020-21 Regular season- The tax team
Under normal circumstances, such history would make me a little worried about the Lakers, who are 3-10 against teams on a 50-plus-win pace. But assuming LeBron James and Anthony Davis are healthy a month from now, these Lakers seem poised to be a team that confounds future playoff predictions based on regular-season performances. The other item of note is that even though Utah has been consistently great regardless of opponent tier, its +3.7/100 Net Rating against top-tier opposition is the lowest “best” mark since the 2012-13 Knicks led the league that season at +1.8/100, and would be only the third time since 2004-05 that no team played at least +4.0/100 against top-tier opposition. I think this is reflective and indicative of what is shaping up to be one of the most wide-open championship runs in recent history.
[h=1]Jazz Swept By Wizards Despite Mitchell’s 42[/h]
because of it. Pass the ****in' ball!
Donovan Mitchell scored 42 for the Jazz becoming only the third player in Jazz history to score at least 35 points in four straight games, but it wasn’t enough as the Jazz comeback came up short.
and I bet the only one to have to shoot 30 shots in any of them which he's done 3 of the 4
Bojan Bogdanovic had one of his best outings of late, scoring 33 points to set a new season-high while connecting on 10-16 shots from the floor, but scored just five points on 1-4 shooting in the fourth quarter.
too bad someone didn't get him the ****in' ball!
The veteran is the Jazz best defender in the backcourt while Mitchell and Joe Ingles struggled to stay in front of the Wizards guards throughout the game.
But they lost despite Mitchell's 40!
“What I was upset about was not the misses,” Mitchell said. “If you guys go back and look, what I was upset about was the reads. Some of the guys were open on shots that I took and that’s what really pissed me off.”
guys are usually open. Doesn't upset you usually
Just as the Jazz starters struggled to play without Conley, the Jazz bench was equally hamstrung by Jordan Clarkson’s sprained ankle. The guard missed his third straight game since suffering the injury and his absence was a glaring issue for the team’s second unit.
the bench was hurt by COTY playing a rookie in his first meaningful minutes and the newet guys on the team instead of the PF's that should be playing regardless because they don't have one
Without Clarkson, the Jazz bench had to rely more heavily on Miye Oni, while Matt Thomas and Trent Forrest played their first truly meaningful minutes in a Jazz uniform. The three players combined to score three points on just 1-4 shooting despite seeing more than 34 minutes on the floor.
Oni isn't a rotation player yet either. Morgan has proven himself as has Ersan. Brantley was all Gleague
That was all part of a scintillating 17-point opening quarter. The problem? The game didn't end there.
the problem is that there is another end of the court and he has teammates standing around watching him
"When you have two elite guards attacking the way they do and getting shots the way they do, we got to all be connected and be locked in," Mitchell said. "We just can't just rely on just Royce (O'Neale) or just Rudy (Gobert) or whatever — we all got to be focused in."
he always talks a big game
"We started playing better defense later in the game and that helped us score on the other end as well, but not enough," Snyder said.

was better in the 2nd half but not great
Donovan Mitchell scored 42 points tonight — but it took him 41 possessions to do it. Overall, that’s a 102 offensive rating, one of those reminders that a lot of points is not necessarily a terrific offensive night.
MVP!
He did go on two scorching runs: in the first quarter, when he scored 17 points, and in the fourth, when he scored 21. But between those, he was as cold as cold can be. I don’t mind him shooting, but I do mind him shooting when his teammates are open and have better looks.
which is most of the time
There are a bunch more, but in general, it was pretty tunnel-vision Mitchell tonight. That can really hold the Jazz back.
this is his regular play
I don’t want to criticize those guys too strongly, because of small sample size. But the opportunity for a standout performance wasn’t seized, certainly.
the coach that played them is the one to criticize
It also highlights the Jazz’s absence of activity in the buyout market. I might feel more confident with Ben McLemore in that slot, or Austin Rivers, or even Patrick McCaw or Jeff Teague. The Jazz’s end of bench guys will likely get more playing time as the team seeks to rest players down the stretch before the playoffs, but none of them are capable of handling even an average number of possessions on their own, putting increased miles on the legs of the remaining guys who aren’t resting.
Morgan, Ersan, Brantley

The fact that they not only didn't open roster space but they filled it with Ersan who obviously they don't plan on playing and Thomas while drafting and giving Hughes a guaranteed contract for next year and not moving him makes little sense
Out of necessity the Jazz had to turn to the seldom used players like Trent Forrest and Matt Thomas and a lot more of Miye Oni due to the absence of Mike Conley and Jordan Clarkson. I know this is probably stating the obvious but Forrest, Thomas and Oni are no substitute for Conley and Clarkson.
I'd rather have Oni and Thomas over Clarkson and probably Forrest too but not over Morgan, Ersan and Brantley
The Jazz can’t really take any positives from this game other than the fact that Bojan Bogdanovic had his best game in a long time. Bogey was an efficient 10-18 from the field and 6-10 from three point land, which is a sight for sore eyes for Jazz fans. Ultimately the team will be fine if Bogey is playing well and all the guys are healthy come playoff time. But it is disappointing when a historic 24 game home win streak comes to an end, especially when the game looked to be in control after a first quarter in which Donovan Mitchell scored 17 points. Rudy Gobert had a solid game with 12 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists but looked sluggish at times during the game and admitted as much after the game when asked about fatigue, “I try not to show it..... But this season is a little more condensed, and we’re going to have to be smart.”
they aren't fine
This Jazz team has had a grueling schedule for a while now. It’s not like they are the only team that is going through this but I can’t remember the last time they had 2 or more days off since the all star break and it doesn’t get any easier with a quick turnaround game against the Oklahoma City Thunder tomorrow night. The Wizards will travel to face the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday. Let’s hope that the Jazz can find their second wind down the stretch of the season and hang on to that number one seed, it will prove massively important if the Jazz want to give themselves a shot at being the last team standing.
excuses. Been saying how deep they are. Went 10 deep in this one. If he'd played Morgan, Ersan and or Brantley they probably win. Oni shouldn't be tired. Niang shouldn't be. Favors shouldn't be
Overall, I have found Favors’ game this year more and more meh. He is a welcome upgrade over Bradley, but I would rather have someone with athleticism at the position (yes, Javale McGee). He’s basically a shell at this point, except for his touch around the rim and his hands in general, which are terrific.

say what you will about Bradley but I don't see much of an upgrade if any and certainly not enough to warrant the price difference
I’m glad Donovan is finding ways to still be efficient when he’s not shooting his best.
The Jazz only have 7-8 games left that really matter to me as a fan. These are games against either good playoff teams or potential first round matchups. The other 10 games they need to win like 7 of them, get the 1 seed and let’s see what happens in the playoffs!! Can’t wait to see how all the seeding plays out.
