Re: Lebron James vs Kobe Bryant, in the season, in MVP talk, more
Not to come off as a LeBron hater, I'm not, please read my other posts but there's one thing I've noticed and it's a bit odd.
I think LeBron really does care about his stats.
For example, you know how at the end of every quarter a player just throws a prayer and they obviously never hit but you know, there is a chance...it is 0.0001 but it's a chance. LeBron never does it.
That was never more obvious than in his game against the Lakers when as he was about the shoot the ball from halfcourt, he smartly double clutched it to release it after the time run out. I also see that, to lesser extents though in other games as he doesn't really attempt those shoots, he just waits for the time to expire.
Also, for example, FT % is his only weakness but he still is the one shooting those technical FT's etc? IIIRC though, I may be pushing it there because I think Gibson used to do that.
Anyway, anyone else noticed that? I mean, he absolutely is a beast, a legend, the best player in the league but anyone else thinks he looks after his stats as much as he can?
Yeah I noticed that also. Kobe always takes that last shot, but it doesn't change the fact that Lebron is MVP. Kobe is too inconsistent for the mvp award. Chris Paul and Lebron might have off shooting days but they'll still get their assists and rebounds. I think Kobe is capable of being a much better player and winning the award but he needs to play smarter. He will have an off day but still take as many shots as he normally would if not more. He needs to realize that he is not going to hit every shot and when his shot is off I would like to see him drive it in more or try to pass more. If he could fix this maybe he might win but I think it's too late now as this season he obviously won't win and he is getting too old and Lebron will get them every other year now. The best he can do is be known as the best player without an mvp award. Maybe.

Some of you need to seriously consider Kobe is playing through an INJURY, I too forget that a lot of the time...but damn, the guy is missing some easy shots...it's obviously affecting his game.

Before injuries, Z was taking those shots. If he was on the bench, Gibson took them. I think even Wally has hit some technical free throws.

if Kobe is not using his injury as an excuse himself, why should his fans make the same excuse? its tiring.

I give Kobe props for playing through the injury. And it indeed has to be affecting his game, because he is not nearly as intimidating or efficient out there lately or this season in general.
What I have a problem with however is these annoucers on ABC yesterday saying how the Rockets shut down "Kobe Bryant: The best player in the game".
I mean, I wouldn't have minded if they had said "arguably" the best player in the game. But that (and other) absolute comments have made me nauseous as it is so inaccurate currently WITH HIS INJURY and obvious that Lebron James has been much more dominating this season.
Any unbiased observer can see this in his in game dominance, how easy it comes to him, and it is reflected in his dominant stats.
Once again, I do feel Kobe's injury is affecting his game, but so many of these announcers hear a couple of media people say he's the best, and these straightlaced robot suit announcers just follow suit. That sentiment for some crazy reason is in vogue presently. I mean I wouldn't have minded that in his 35ppg season, etc., but to say it now just speaks to a non researched corporate mainstream media fool's mentality and nothing to do with true basketball observance. Listen to Hubie Brown. He made a point of lumping Lebron's stats only with MJ and Oscar. No mention of Kobe. He mentioned his FG%, ppg with rebounds and assists. That is someone who is going to speak the straight word. Not these mindless suits who say AN INJURED Kobe Bryant is "inarguably the best player in the game".
It is moronic. A healthy Kobe may indeed be Lebron's equal, but currently with his injury he is not.

Unless Lebron reaches a certain amount of victories, he should not be considered for MVP (per traditional consideration). Right now, it's Paul, Kobe, KG.

no consideration for tmac or timmy?

Timmy, yes, absolutely.
TMac, no. It is too apparent that Houston's success has much much less to do with TMac than, say, Hornet's success has to do with Chris Paul.
If it was voted on today, my money would be on Paul. Another 15 games...we shall see.

Re: Lebron James vs Kobe Bryant, in the season, in MVP talk, more
Just because Kobe isn't publicly saying that the injury bothers him, doesn't mean I'm going to sit here and watch him miss easy layups and grab his finger on occasions...and not comment on how it's obviously affecting his game.

It's so hard to choose!
Lebron has the stats, Paul has games like these, and Kobe has his Dallas and Phx performances. This is the tightest race I

Put another point down for Chris Paul in the MVP race...another sick performance.
