Re: Stan Van Gundy confirms Dwight Howard asked Magic to fire him
Who cares? Stan Van Gundy deserves to be fired anyway.
Re: Stan Van Gundy confirms Dwight Howard asked Magic to fire him
And you are pretty limited.
if you mean i don't ignore evidence in order to be a stan for an NBA player acting like a tool, yes i am limited in my ability to do that.
Do you think the fact that everyone in this thread except you has a different opinion is because you've figured out something the rest of us missed?
Re: Stan Van Gundy confirms Dwight Howard asked Magic to fire him
that video was sooooo awkward...lol
Re: Stan Van Gundy confirms Dwight Howard asked Magic to fire him
Unless Dwight agrees to sign with the Magic next year I don't think he should ask for something like this. What if they fire Stan and then Dwight just leaves right after?
Re: Stan Van Gundy confirms Dwight Howard asked Magic to fire him
**** off bro. I'm no stan. No idea where you take that from. See how limited you are ? The moment someone has not the same idea than you then he is a stan and his point is wrong.
If SVG says so, then it's true. Even tho he wasn't there when D12 allegedly said it. If both Otis and D12 denies it, then he never asked for it. That's all. As things stand only D12 denied it. Reporters should do their jobs and ask Otis.
Why do you believe D12 is lieing ? Because SVG said so ? But SVG only heard second-hand commentary from some guy in management.
Re: Stan Van Gundy confirms Dwight Howard asked Magic to fire him
Nope. SVG isn't the source. The source come from the guys in management who told SVG this. It's different.
Have you ever done a book report before? When you cite your sources, you cite where you got your information from, that doesn't necessarily have to be from the mouth of the person you're doing your report on.
"Stan Van Gundy was just here and told us he said you want him fired"
"What's your source?"
"Are you serious? I just freakin told you what source I'm using"
If SVG says Dwight wants him fired, Dwight says something like "I just want to win" it's obvious whats going on. You can't seriously think Dwight doesn't have some sort of tension against SVG?

D12 asked management to fire SVG. RUMOR
SVG just added weigth to the rumor that was going around by confirming it. FACT.
D12 denied it. FACT.
OTIS didn't confirm anything yet. FACT.
So "go ask the SOURCE". AKA ASK OTIS.
Damn, you guys are slow.
Re: Stan Van Gundy confirms Dwight Howard asked Magic to fire him
The coach is usually the first to get blamed when teams that were contenders fall off. I don't quite agree with Howard going to management asking them to fire the coach, but it seems like it's inevitable that he will be fired regardless. SVG's "outside in" style clearly needs to go cuz teams already know how to limit their scoring. SVG is only part of the problem though, but firing him would be a start.

I believe Dwight is lying because he's acted like a tool changing his mind back and forth during this whole process and because there is motivation for him to lie, and no motivation for SVG. SVG might get fired with time left on his deal, and although im sure he can get another job, this will certainly be a black mark against future employers. He aired dirty laundry.
SVG is probably getting fired over this, maybe in the next few hours.
What do you think the motivation is for SVG to lie here?
Re: Stan Van Gundy confirms Dwight Howard asked Magic to fire him
I never said SVG was lieing. I said SVG heard seconhands report. "Someoneone told me someone (D12) asked Otis to fire me.". That's secondhand report. Heck it might be third hand report if it comes from someone else than Otis.
"Someone told me someone told him D12 asked Otis for you to be fired". See how unreliable this can easily become ?
Besides airing dirty laundry will always be put against you when researching another job. Afterall, it'd simply means you can not be trusted not tu run your mouth off.
Re: Stan Van Gundy confirms Dwight Howard asked Magic to fire him
I called this when the DHo trade drama first started. The Magic prostituted themselves to keep their star, and now the aftereffects of publicly ceding decision-making power to a player will start to hurt them big-time.
They should have just traded him when he asked for it.
Now, how is a new coach going to come in and establish any kind of authority when he knows that DHo can simply call upstairs and veto his job? Why would any superstar come to Orlando when its commonly known that Dwight runs things?
The Magic "won" in the short-term by keeping DHo, but will lose in the long run. They never should have sacrificed their organizational integrity. That's like selling your soul to the devil.
Re: Stan Van Gundy confirms Dwight Howard asked Magic to fire him
Howard should be in New Jersey right now.

Blame the management who allowed this to get out the room. You know, you could have fired SVG withotu tellling him he was asked to be fired by D12 by example. All this drama is because the Magics' GM is a ****ing amateur.

The reporter wanted a reaction of what Dwight thought about SVG saying management telling SVG Dwight wants him fired... Get it?
"Dwight, so... SVG told us that management told him you wanted him fired. How do you feel about your coach saying this?"
"What's your source on SVG saying this?"
"SVG just freakin' said it, like two seconds ago" :confusedshrug:
Either
1. SVG/Management is lying. In which case Dwight would say something like "I have no idea why SVG would say that. Either management made something up about me asking for a trade, or SVG made that up himself. They are all snakes, I have no faith in this organization b/c they are just making $hit up and putting words in my mouth, I feel disrespected"
2. SVG is telling the truth AND Dwight asked management to fire SVG. In which case Dwight would either say "Yeah I asked management to fire his ass, so what?" or "I don't know what you guys are talking about, I want to just win"
Come on man, put the pieces together. You are the star player, your coach just said you wanted him fired. That's a HUGE accusation. The only reaction you're going to have is a "source?" Are you serious!? If LeBron was asked in a post game session "So we heard that you told Riley you want Spoelstra to be fired?" You know LeBron would be like "What!?!? You guys are nuts man, nothing of the sort ever came out of my mouth". It wouldn't be something like "Well.. you know i just want to win"

This isn't the GM's fault. He obviously didn't put this "veto power" offer on the table.
Whether it got out publicly, or not, even hinting that a player would have the power to fire a coach or GM is just stupid.
It was upper management and ownership who adopted the "must keep Dwight at all costs" campaign. Ultimately, all of the clouds lingering over the franchise stem from that bad decision.
