Re: Clippers trade for Lance Stephenson from Hornets
I can imagine the phone call
Jordan: Hey Doc, would you like to have Stephenson on your team?
Doc: Well, not really...
Jordan: You sure? You don't have anything to offer for him?
Doc: Hawes and Barnes is the best I can give I guess...
Jordan: It's a deal. Bye
Doc: Wait! What?
Super underrated post. Especially because I can hear that in my head, and Jordan says "It'sadeal.Bye" so fast it's one word.

Re: Clippers trade for Lance Stephenson from Hornets
Good deal for both teams. Hawes is on a great contract and is a good match offensively for al Jefferson. Also fits Vonleh or zeller. Good 4 man rotation, and doesn't it save them enough to take another shot at a 1-3 guy in fa?
Clippers it allows them to trade Crawford or jj if they find the right deal for a second pg or a wing
JJ had the best season of his career this year. He is infinitely better than Crawford. I love him but Crawford is a negative in the playoffs. On D, he is a joke and the structured game of the playoffs doesn't suit him. Anytime he steps on the floor, we are in the negative. He should still have some value as a great scorer off the bench for someone. Hopefully, Doc can turn him into a good big or a good wing player. That would really help our roster.

Re: Clippers trade for Lance Stephenson from Hornets
The Hornets are honestly probably a bottom 2-3 franchise in the league right now. No stars, best young talent is a defensive specialist with a broken jumper, small market, and a GM making mind boggling moves.
Nets are probably in worse shape, but if Charlotte lets Biyombo walk and actually decides to give big minutes to Hawes while shooting for the 8 seed, (and inevitably falling short and winding up in the 10 seed again) then from a fan's perspective things look pretty hopeless. Bad coach, bad GM, no talent, and stuck on the 8-10 seed treadmill.

You need Crawford though for the marathon regular season. Clips need to have the homecourt advantage throughout the playoff to give themselves a better chance and that's what Crawford brings on the regular season.
The trade was a high risk but it's worth to take it. Clips choked and can't get through second round so they definitely need some tweaking. Barnes is a step slower and Hawes was out of the rotation. They also have that team option on Lance so Lance has no other choice but to behave and perform. Maybe a chance of scenery will do him good.

I love Crawford but we don't need him. He is one of the guys that makes our offense look so good in the regular season but his play drops off considerably in the playoffs and that's what it's all about. I would rather take a less explosive guy who will be more solid in the playoffs over him.
Re: Clippers trade for Lance Stephenson from Hornets
Good calculated risk by Clippers but bad trade for Hornets who should of got more in return.

Like what? The Hornets have been trying to trade him since up until the deadline last season.

A draft pick? Hornets are a young team but desperately need ton of talent.

To Crawfords defense, he was playing out of his mind up until he injured his calf. He returned only a little bit before the playoffs. I doubt he was 100%. He didn't appear to have the movement he had before he went down. I think at his price, you can't do much better. Even if he is a red season player, you need those wins in a loaded west.

Goes to show you how badly they wanted him out. But I do think they could have gotten at least a 2nd round pick but I could be wrong. I guess his value was that low if they we're willing to take a big who had a terrible season.
