Never doubt me. Yeah, we have some superior players, but we are clearly outmatched. Mets own us this year. They're picking us apart.
What does that mean? :lol
Obviously the Mets are a great team. They have the complete opposite approach offensively. Outside of Alonso they’re a bunch of annoying hitters who put the ball in play. We’re bombers but that can be neutralized more often I think.

I've seen enough. Braves need to focus on SP and shoring up the RF position next season. I haven't seen the Braves play this bad in a long time.

Relax Chico. The Mets are playing an all time brand of baseball right now and we just aren’t as good.
...and that’s okay.
We’re still 20 games over .500 and have a talented team. We’ve had some poor luck recently as well.
We‘ll make the playoffs and probably have the Padres in a best of 3.
Re: Official 2022 MLB Season Discussion Thead
Jays added OF Jackie Bradley Jr, who Red Sox released few days ago. I remember he was in many rumours as a possible trade piece but nothing really happened until they got him off waiver for free.

Vaugh Grissom called up today since Arcia went down last night. Surprised they decided to do this, but they are desperate. Grissom is Dansby's replacement. I always go back and forth with Braves fans about Dansby and they are somehow convinced that he's worth an extension simply because he's having the best year of his career and that is just foolish. Dude hasn't proven anything and has been a sub-par hitter for most of his career. Besides, money spent on Dansby only blocks a guy like Vaughn Grissom who is tearing it up right now in the Minors. That money could be spent on Starting Pitching which we so desperately need. If I'm the Braves, I have Carlos Rodon and DeGrom on my radar for next season with Rodon being top priority.
Re: Official 2022 MLB Season Discussion Thead
White Sox should just blow this thing up, we got pieces like Dylan Cease, Micheal Kopech, Luis Robert and Andrew Vaughn but we should see what we can get for Jose Abreu, Liam Hendricks and Co. There must be teams looking for a closer and a reliable bat willing to give us solid prospects. Eloy Jimenez, Tim Anderson and Yoan Moncada are solid pieces but they just can't stay healthy :(

I'll gladly take Cease and Abreu off your hands. Braves need SP and Ozuna ain't cutting it as the DH. You get a younger Ozuna in return and a couple of pitching prospects plus Ian Anderson.

That sounds good, only I would counter with Giolito instead of Cease :lol No way I'm trading Cease

I honestly have mixed feelings about this. On one hand I definitely agree with you, but I can’t fully get there.
For starters, Grissom has been tearing up single A. That’s not “the minor leagues”. He certainly has a lot of talent but it’s really tough to give up a guy like Dansby for kind of an unknown. Because (outside of even on the field) Dansby is fantastic. His locker room presence is second to none and the dude just understands and loves baseball, which translates in a lot of areas. He’s a fantastic defender and he actually hasn’t been bad at the plate in a couple years. If I can get a SS who OPS’s at .800 and gives you everything else Dansby does...I’ll take it all day. There’s maybe only 5-6 teams that wouldn’t.
But Grissom might be too much of a talent to pay Dansby what he’s worth. It’s tough.
Re: Official 2022 MLB Season Discussion Thead
The Braves got too good of a deal with Acuna. I think it would be bad business if they don't revisit it in the next few years and pay him closer to market value.

LOL. You're the type of Braves fan I argue with on Twitter and Facebook. Same thing comes out of their mouth regarding Dansby's intangibles which with all honesty, do not win ballgames. Sure, he's a nice guy, but just cause he's always at the top of the dugout ready to high-five an incoming Braves player doesn't mean he's worth an extension.
I think his defense is great, but we are talking about a guy who is a career .256 hitter in his 7 years with the Braves. And this is a former #1 pick. He'll be 29 before next season starts and just the idea of saving at least 15-20mil a year by replacing him with someone who is only 21 is definitively a much wiser baseball move. Our glaring holes in this lineup are at SP and LF. We pretty much have every other position locked up for years to come and I couldn't be happier with what I'm seeing from a guy like Michael Harris who will only get better. Unless they are willing to move Grissom to LF, I think the Braves only shoot themselves in the foot by tying up too much money in Dansby when they have no idea if Soroka will ever come back and if he will ever be able to perform to what he used to. Ian Anderson is proving to be a bust, and Charlie Morton is pushing 40. I'm still not sold on Kyle Wright, so in reality, the only two pitchers who are reliable pieces for the future have been Fried and Strider. Braves drafted a ton of pitchers in this last draft, but those guys are still 2-3 years out if that.
So yeah, to recap, I love what Dansby has done for us this year, but his track record doesn't warrant him an extension knowing that we have other more pressing needs with this lineup.

I don't mean to be this guy because I hate when others do it...but you truly seem like the type who has never played ball outside of like a softball rec league or something. Things that you can't count play a role in the game. Sometimes immensely. I honestly don't feel like taking the time to explain this to you so just read a book about baseball, listen to a podcast with dudes who have played the game before, etc. They'll all tell you the same thing.

Why is his career average relevant? He's been an .800 OPS hitter the last 4 seasons. And with that aforementioned great defense at SS? That's an extremely valuable player. I don't disagree with rest.
I'm still not sold on Kyle Wright
Now you're being inconsistent. Dansby and Wright are having great years and you're not sold. But Anderson has a bad year and he's a bust? Pick one.
As for Wright specifically, he's completely changed his approach to pitching. He used to be a nibbler who wasn't confident in his stuff and now he goes after people. Will he occasionally have games where he gives up 9 hits or 3 bombs because of this? Sure. But from what I've seen he's at worst a back end innings eater. Obviously more at best.
To recap, I agree that he might be worth too much than we should pay. But his value is where I disagree strongly.

You come across as very standoff-ish to me.
I don't need to be a professional baseball player to know about baseball. Are you in the big leagues? What team ya play for? I've been following baseball a lot longer than you, but this isn't a dick measuring contest between the two of us, so I'll leave it at that.
I'm sorry, but being a great clubhouse guy is nice, but so is Guillermo Heredia. And there's a reason why Heredia doesn't play every day. Dude can't hit.
We agree that he has great defense. But the Braves had arguably the best defensive SS in all of baseball at the time in Andrelton Simmons and they still dealt him away to the Angels for nothing.
And again, you're getting caught up on the current season and not looking at the entire career as a whole, so regarding Kyle Wright, he hasn't proven himself yet. I'm not saying I don't want him on this team, I'm just saying we don't know that he's a proven starter.
