This isn't caused by the trade war, but by hypercapitalism and China's insane population. The average chinese student is much more well-read and capable than the average american... by a lot... and that's why when you look at the top tech and engineering sectors they'll make up the majority of them. Competition in China is unfathomable to most who haven't lived there and seen it first hand. Makes American competition look like child's play, which is also why I don't like the US headed in that direction. China has no social security to fall back on which increases stress and pressure to save, which we're quickly heading toward as well. And the 996 that gets mentioned in the video? That means you work from 9am-9pm, 6 days per week. If you have a 1 hour commute, you're left with just 10 hours in your day so if you literally just eat, work and take care of personal hygiene the average person is still going to be short on sleep despite no hobbies or self care(like going to the gym). Not to mention someone with a masters in shanghai is probably making ~10k yuan/ month(yuan is about 7 to the $1) and a bowl of cheap takeout noodles is like 35 yuan there, so you're working super hard and can't even enjoy anything of quality. An average newer high rise flat is about 10k/mo by itself; you would imagine someone with a good job should be able to afford it, but it's not the case. So if this is your life, and you're one of the fortunate ones with a masters degree to even get that job in the first place, then why bother? That's what the 'lying flat' protest is. Less production and doing the minimum until you guys pay us. Obviously, like the video says, not everyone can afford to do that either.
But if I'm a billionaire and I want the most production which results in the most profit? You bet your ass I want the American work force to become more like China's.
Doing it more so now.
What are you basing this on, your 'feelings and intuition' or do you have empirical evidence for once?
This isn't caused by the trade war, but by hypercapitalism and China's insane population.
China lies about its population. Russia estimates their population is only 800 million

I'm just saying for the good of the US economy in general, but why would you care, you keep getting those welfare checks that you spend on meth...that ain't drying up anytime soon.

High-level talks between the United States and China have begun in Geneva, Switzerland, Chinese state media reported on Saturday, in a possible thaw in the trade war sparked by President Donald Trump’s massive tariffs.
Vice Premier He Lifeng will lead the talks on the Chinese side, while US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent will be America’s chief representative, state broadcaster CCTV said in a brief report.
Bessent urged the public earlier this week not to expect a major trade deal out of the meetings, but he acknowledged it was an important step in negotiations.

The US learned China was in Switzerland to meet EU countries to expand on their new trade deals, so she hightailed it to Switzerland like the crazy ex-gf that dumped her bf, told him she didn't need him at all and now realizing dude's hooking up with other girls, she's stalking him and begging him to call her :lol
But wait MAGA, were the tariffs goal to bring back manufacturing? If so, why even negotiate with China at all? They should be in place permanently to force US companies back, no? Short term pain, long term gain?
Now Trump is saying tariffs with China are for better trade deals, they have been ripping us off for years...so then bringing back manufacturing is now not a thing? The goal is to simply have better a trade deal with China? Can whiner234 explain? Hey Yo and warriorfan are clearly to stupid to even attempt at explaining this so what's all this about, whiner234?
BTW, China isn't ripping us off, China didn't force US companies to relocate and trade deficits isn't stealing, we're buying goods and they are sending it to us, it's like saying grocery stores are ripping us off because we keep buying from them week after week. Trump literally is the dumbest POS ever to step into the WH, makes GWB look like a genius.

Is this what the news that is feeding you BS is trying to spin it? USA-China met for 12 hours yesterday and all day today. Word on the street is a new trade deal is near. Polymarket now has a USA-China trade deal happening before June at a 85% chance after being just 20% just a few days ago.

We win again fam!
China will keep 10% tariff on USA
USA will keep 30% tariff on China
While talks for a deal will continue.

When does your predicted recession going to start?
Just because China meets with other countries does not mean it can just create a demand. How dumb can one be to think China has any leverage in this? One cannot replace 400M of some of the world's wealthiest people as a consumer....
The US will always have the leverage because it has the demand.
When all is said and done, the USA will be in a better place vs before. It's about time we start using our leverage to make trade fair for the few things we do export.
When a final trade deal is done, the stock market will be at or higher vs what it was before. Funny how people cry about the stock market and use retirees as the victims. No Retiree is liquidating all their assets on a dip... just dumb logic. The end goal is to increase US financial position. This means offering tax incentives (on SS, OT, TIPS etc. as mentioned by Trump, so again, how does that not help our retirees?)
When does your predicted recession going to start?
Hopefully it doesn't but major economists say it's already too late. You know who suffers the most in recessions? Us.
BTW, I don't know if this new trade deal which is obviously still in the works is a W for the US because a bunch of goods we buy are now 30% more expensive. Yay, let's spend more for the stuff we buy!

I hate to break it to you but China's exports have gone up compared to last year's by 8.1%
What rawimpact doesn't realize is that China is trading with new partners since the US imposed those heavy tariffs, the demand was there but since the US was a steady customer albeit not so reliable, the products they were shipping to the US is now going into new markets. Meanwhile the US hasn't been as successful finding new purveyors of the goods we aren't receiving from China anymore, hence the empty ports and soon empty shelves economists are saying will be seeing in a matter of days/weeks...
Yes, China's exports have generally seen growth in the rest of the world, despite some fluctuations and specific trade challenges. In April 2025, China's overall exports rose by 8.1% year-on-year. This growth was driven by increased exports to certain regions and countries, including Southeast Asia, Latin America, and India. However, exports to the U.S. experienced a decline in April.
Key Factors:
Diversification of Export Destinations:
China has been diversifying its export destinations, particularly to countries within the "Belt and Road Initiative" and Southeast Asia.
Trade War Impact:
While exports to the U.S. were affected by tariffs, other markets helped offset the decline.
Pre-Tariff Rushing:
Some exporters rushed to ship goods before higher tariffs took effect, leading to increased exports in some months.
Strong Growth in Specific Sectors:
Some product categories, such as semiconductors, experienced significant export growth.
Domestic Economic Factors:
China's domestic economy, particularly the housing market, has also influenced export patterns, with the government relying more on exports to offset the economic downturn.
Specific Examples:
Southeast Asia:
Exports to Southeast Asian countries saw significant growth, with Vietnam and other countries experiencing high year-on-year increases.
Latin America:
Exports to Latin America also experienced growth, contributing to the overall export increase.
India:
Shipments to India increased significantly, indicating a rising trend in China's exports to that country.
U.S.:
Exports to the U.S. fell in April, largely due to new tariffs.
Can't speak for anyone else but I never said China didn't care, my whole argument was that China was in a better position to come out on top in a US vs China trade war, especially since Trump stupidly imposed heavy tariffs on the rest of the world, except Russia of course. Instead of having Japan, S Korea, Mexico, Canada, Germany and other big US trading partners present a united front vs China, Trump pisses them off and they strike new trade deals with the Chinese instead.
The Art Of The Deal I guess :lol
