Re: The 2017 off-season...Hayward, Hill, Ingles...?
The Bucks are hosting a free agent mini-camp on Tuesday and Wednesday this week as they look to fill out their training camp roster and identify candidates to play for their G League affiliate, the Wisconsin Herd, according to Matt Velazquez of The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The mini-camp, which will give the club a chance to evaluate possible camp invitees, includes a handful of notable names among its 16 participants. Former lottery picks Trey Burke and Hasheem Thabeet are among the first-rounders who will be in attendance at the mini-camp, as Velazquez details. MarShon Brooks, Toney Douglas, Archie Goodwin, R.J. Hunter, John Jenkins, Perry Jones, and James Young are also set to get a look from the Bucks.
In order to move beneath the luxury-tax threshold, the Milwaukee Bucks waived 7-footer Spencer Hawes, league sources told ESPN. The Bucks will use the stretch provision to spread the balance of Hawes’ $6.2 million salary this season over three years, sparing the franchise the full salary-cap hit this year. – via ESPN
Bobby Marks: Milwaukee is now $2.5M below the luxury tax with 13 guaranteed contracts. Spencer Hawes will carry a $2M cap hit for the next 3 seasons. – via Twitter BobbyMarks42
too bad the Jazz aren't interested in stretch 5's anymore
looks like the Bucks could use another pg maybe. Might be a landing spot for Neto though the Bucks are as obsessed with length as the Jazz
The two sides have had preliminary conversations as the Jazz hope Hood can become their primary perimeter scorer this season after Gordon Hayward left for the Boston Celtics.
They're expecting too much out of him. Hopefully they don't pay him more than what a top 6th man would earn at most because that is the role is built for
Another meeting is expected to occur in the next few weeks, according to league sources.
after he proves something in pre-season I would assume
The Jazz are expected to allow Exum to reach restricted free agency unless he accepts a team-friendly deal similar to Alec Burks, who extended for $10 million annually three years ago.
They better not give Exum that kind of money when he's proven nothing. Burks had shown he was one of the best 6th men in the league at the time already. He's had bad luck since. I'd consider giving Exum a deal that reflects a developing talent if he shows he's earned that in pre-season maybe. A deal that would probably be a pay cut to his rookie contract! If he was smart h'd probably take it because otherwise he might be playing in front of Kabong next year in Australia
There is hope internally that Exum is on the verge of a breakout
of course there is. The wizard is looking too good with that pick
he is expected to play a key role off the bench this season
I wouldn't be expecting anything of him. I'd hope and pray he doesn't continue to suck. If he does he shouldn't be playing
Exum has yet to find his stride in the NBA, partially due to his torn ACL two years ago
Mostly because he's looked like an athlete and not a basketball player. Time to quit making excuses for him. The injury was unfortunate but he has shown little outside of 4 pre-season games in 3 years
