Re: Knicks will make run. A more offensive 2008 Celtics.
Never did I say they were going to win a title.
If you mean that then stop trying to compare them to a Champion.
I was simply comparing this new Knicks identity (with Mike Woodson as coach) to the one of the Celtics in '08. A very balanced team offensively, no one is out there scoring 25+ppg, and a team that plays great TEAM defense. One anchor (KG/Tyson) that brings a bunch of players who before were not known as great defenders to play great TEAM defense. Like coach Woody has been saying, "Playing defense like everyone is on a string. If there is a breakdown somewhere, a guy goes to help, and so forth"
Even when you look at the composition of the teams, the players on the team, they are very comparable.
The comparison is terrible. If Melo is trying on D he and Pierce are similar players. All other comparisons are terrible. There is no equivalent to Ray Allen in NY, the Celts had 2 defensive anchors not just one (Perk was/is one of the best interior defenders), the actual pf of the Knicks does not have Garnett's defensive intensity and impact or anything even close to it. The only Knicks playing better than their Celtic '08 counterparts would be Lin and Chandler, but Lin is an inferior defender to the younger Rondo.
Your team starting to care about D does not make them the equal of a Champion. Doesn't work that way.
Re: Knicks will make run. A more offensive 2008 Celtics.
“I guarantee you that Miami and Chicago sure don’t want to see the Knicks at 7 or 8 [in the playoff race],” Philadelphia coach Doug Collins said, a few hours before he got an up-close look at this Knicks team that is so radically different from the old one they should have a new nickname. “I can tell you that.”
New excuse:
"Doug Collins is an idiot!!!! HE DOESNTZ KNOWZ ANYTHINGZZZZZ!11!!1111!!! **** THE KNICKZZZzzzzss"
Re: Knicks will make run. A more offensive 2008 Celtics.
Is this the first time you've heard a coach compliment an opponent?

Yes.
Re: Knicks will make run. A more offensive 2008 Celtics.
I know it's been only 5 games but still:
KNICKS DEFENSIVE STATS SINCE MIKE WOODSON TOOK OVER
(league ranking in that period, more precisely in the last 5 games)
Points allowed: 86.6 (2nd)
Opponent FG%: .406 (1st)
Opponent 3-pt%: .318 (4th)
Assists allowed: 15.8 (1st)
Rebounds: 45 (5th)
Rebound differential: +7.4 (3rd)

Don't take this wrong,I'm not saying "Knicks will win the championship" or something like that.
Just stating the facts.

how many wins will it take to convince you? looking at the schedule, if the Knicks maintain their intensity and momentum, we could potentially win 10 straight

oh the irony
i point out that you are losing the run of yourself, and then you go and predict a ten game win streak, from a team that is sub .500
honestly though, i wouldnt be impressed by any sample size much smaller than 15 games, and i will need to see them beat some good teams, before i am convinced that they will even be a factor in the post-season, let alone a contender.

Airchibundo isn't even a Knicks fan, he's a Melo stan. :oldlol: He's mad that the beast known as Amar'e "The Hebrew Hammer" Stoudemire has awoken and Melo is now no longer the best player on the Knicks (he never was, really, people just underrate Amar'e when he's 100%).

the Knicks right now are playing at a level far above their record, and it'd be best for you to grasp this simple concept early
we beat Philly (we were on end of back2back) and Indiana on the road and Indiana again in NY. we've played more upperseeded playoff teams than lottery teams in this five game stretch

beating indiana and philly doesnt make me consider the knicks a contender
if they could consistently beat teams of philly and indianas calibre then i would probably have to re-consider how i see the knicks
