You can't reason or logic with bat shit crazy. I may be totally wrong and he's just a whacko, but it seems clear to me that after listening to his voice with the gay lisp, that video of him listening to whatever homo music that was with him winking and kissing the camera.. My gaydar was on full alert. Not that anything is wrong with being a homo, I don't care, I just think it's a relevant perspective to add to the potential motive of this case. The dude is young, rich, a virgin, fairly decent looking, listening to gay music, his dad works in Hollywood, his dad is a Democrat, telling other dudes on a bodybuilder message board (if that wasn't gay enough) that he's a gem in a sea of rocks or some such shit..... the only logical conclusion to my brain is he's a homo. I could be wrong, but I don't think so.

Yes, aspergers is the first thing that came to mind, too, and I believe I read somewhere that he was diagnosed with the disorder at a young age. I don't mean this to make it sound like people with autism/aspergers are prone to violence, because most are not and Rodger likely had some other issues going on.
But, he is displaying all the signs of a high functioning AS sufferer. Socially awkward, feels completely unattached from society, complete failure to communicate his thoughts/desires to peers, an odd manner of speech and delivery, and most importantly, a total failure to identify their peers' true emotions.
There are ways of treating AS so that it doesn't reach a point of peril, but clearly this guy either wasn't being treated, wasn't being treated correctly, or was so far gone that there was nothing to be done.
Pretty sad, all the way around. :(
Btw, I seriously doubt that having sex or even attaining his ultimate goal of having a girlfriend would have solved his issues. That was just his misguided target for his inability to relate to society.
