*picks out the most negative review he can find*
:oldlol: It's the average scores of all the reviews.
You still fail to comprehend that simple concept.
im talking about the quote, not the fvcking metacritic score.
You act like Metacritic is the end all, be all of gaming reviews. You put way too much trust into it, in fact, you let it shape your own opinion. It's unbelievable.
Metacritic can never take into account all of the little variations between scoring systems that every outlet has. A 60% score on one site might mean an "average" game, but on another, 60% is an "okay" game. Then with the problem of trying to convert a "B" rank to a 100-point scale, you can start to see why Metacritic could be called "inaccurate".
As well, it uses a weighed average, which is based on the popularity of a site, which makes no sense; A 2/5 with the proper logical backing isn't any less valid on a small site vs a big one. That's dumb.
The user score altogether is just a mess. You should put zero trust in that.
Metacritic is good for getting a very rough idea of a game's quality. If it's somewhere in the 70-100 range, it's worth checking out yourself. But comparing games on their exact score is so wrong and using it to prove that one game is better than another is utterly ridiculous.

I only use aggregates reviews to prove my point.
I have played games that were rated 75 (Ghost Warrior) and absolutely loved it. I felt like Max Payne 3 should have gotten a much higher score as well. I thought the mechanics of that game were superb and the storyline was very deep and dark. One of my favorite games of the last 10 years.
However, I do like to use metacritic scores when a great game is being trashed. I find it funny how people claim TLOU is overrated yet so many of my friends didn't even know its existence until I told them about it. Subsequently, all of them really loved it.
PS - I value user ratings a lot more because its a much bigger sample size.
I'd say user ratings are pretty accurate. I only ignore them with big titles like Call of Duty, Halo, Gears, Assassin Creed etc. because too many fan boys log on just to give those games a bad rating because they love its competition.

Do you know what overrated means?
Definition: have a higher opinion of (someone or something) than is deserved
We wouldn't be calling it overrated if it didn't have a high score in the first place!
Opinions change over time anyway. Halo 4 has fvcking 9.8/10 on IGN, yet Halo fans hate that game. MGS 4 has 10/10 and that's the worst game in the series. That's because people start to see the flaws after the 'honeymoon' phase ends, after all the reviews and hype calms down, as well as not wanting to be disappointed. TLoU suffers from that exact problem. I know that because I didn't pay much attention to the game until my sister told me to play it a year after release, therefore I didn't experience all the "omg this game is going to be the best ever thank you naughty dog" pre-release, and I subsequently thought it wasn't as good as it was hyped up to be.

So you think TLOU scoring a 95 aggregate is overrated?
IGN rated Uncharted 3 - 100, yet rated Uncharted 2 - 95.
That's why I like to use aggregate scores because it considers all the sources and calculates the average for each game.
:oldlol: You're so full of shit, that's why I will just ignore you from now on. I gave my game to friends who have never even heard of TLOU and absolutely loved it.
TLOU was released in 2013, over a year later the remastered edition was released and everyone still love it. Millions of copies were sold. What hype are you talking about? Just stick to your opinion and quit acting like everyone shares your sentiments.

There wasn't a honeymoon period with TLOU. Pretty much everyone that loved the game when it first came still love it...TLOU Remastered got a great reaction (came out a year after the PS3 version).
There's a vocal minority that like to shit on it and call it overrated, but reception toward the game has not changed.

Yeah TLOU Remastered was probably the biggest game of 2014 :oldlol:
The Last of Us (2013) - 5.62 million
The Last of Us Remastered (2014) - 3.27 million
Yeah so much for your "honeymoon" theory.
It only sold more copies than games like Battlefield 4, Ghosts, Arkham Knight, Black Son, Infamous and Witcher 3.
Yet it was also a "remastered" edition.
Yeah TLOU Remastered was probably the biggest game of 2014 :oldlol:
The reason it was a big release for ps4 was because the ps4 had zero good games before that. I had one and it was dismal if you played multi plats on another platform.
You guys do realise the entire gaming industry is right now trying to get people to not use metacritic when looking at games don't you? Its a pretty hot issue over the last year or so in the gaming mediia6 about how flawed the system is.

The witcher 3 sold 6 million in 6 months. Arkham knight had 5 million in a few months too. Your comparing games that are still selling well to a game that has been out longer and was and still is in alot of console bundles. Tlou was a good game but come on stop being a **** please

He's a fvcking retard. Even after explaining how shit and broken it is, he goes back to Metacritic scores. It's like speaking to a brick fvcking wall. There's really no point in wasting your time arguing with him.

Beating out all-time greats like Destiny and Watch Dogs?
Seriously though, Shadow of Mordor and Dragon Age are the best games of 2014.
