Re: At least Kawhi passed Bran on the GOAT list...
Bran's peak is not higher.
Kawhi faced far better competition in the East without a super team and the help of the NBA.
Kawhi has legit elite skills, such as post play, mid range, etc.
He's just better.
Being more skilled doesnt make you a better player though. Shaq wasnt skilled and was one dimensional but he's a top 5-7 player all time. Kobe was more skilled than Lebron, as is Chris Paul. Neither are better players.

Yes. Shaq wasnt known for beating you in many ways. He played in the post and was unstoppable so that didnt matter. Compare that to Kobe. He was infinitely more skilled than Shaq and about 20 times more skilled than Lebron.
But that isnt the discussion.

Kawhi is a better 5-on-5 player than Lebron (can win without super-teams and get stats with elite teamwork)
And he's probably equal 1-on-1 - the stats actually say he's a BETTER iso player
I believe that most people's high opinion of bran is his "passing"... But high APG is overrated - in the entire 90's, 00's and 10's (30 years), the only guys that won rings while averaging over 8 apg in the RS, PO, or Finals is Kidd (8.2 apg in 11' RS), Lebron (8.9 apg in 16' Finals), and MJ (11.2 apg in 91' Finals).
^^^ Let that sink in... High apg makes teammates play-finishers, thus reducing their role and impact... Ultimately:. versatile, timely scoring that lets teammates maximize their role > ball-dominant assists that reduce teammates to low impact play-finishers

I-on-1 isnt the discussion. Otherwise Kobe 》 Lebron. As far as 5 on 5,I'm not sure I agree. I still think that prime Lebron was a different player from the one you see now, who plays little defense and primarily focuses on simple box score stats. Only Jordan, Shaq, and Wilt may have had higher peaks in my opinion.

I mentioned 1-on-1 because if a player is better at 1-on-1 (Kobe) and 5-on-5 (5 rings), then he's the better basketball player.... Yeah, I know kobe won 3 rings with Shaq, but he won 2 with Bosh too, I mean Pau
Secondly, define "peak"
Thirdly, his 5-on-5 ability is overrated because his Finals runs were manufactured - he stacked the deck in a conference where Dwight was dragging weak casts to the Finals.. give 09' Dwight a couple stars like Wade/Bosh and it's Dwight with the manufactured Finals streak..
Lastly, high APG has always been an overrated stat and has proven to win FAR less than lower apg players over the last 30 yrs.. Ultimately, great 5-on-5 play requires great teamwork - Lebron's narrow, ball-dominant skillset doesn't allow it and needs extra talent to offset the weak teamwork
.

Another one.
No one breaks it down better.
A true expert.

No aficionado tries to rank Bran like that.
His cowardly decisions destroyed his legacy.

Kobe played every season for one team and won back to back titles without a top 75 player all time.
Pau may not even be too 100.
All while the NBA tried to impede him.

Pau is easily top 100. He is right there with KG and Dirk. He should of won fmvp but obviously a legacy had to be protected
Kobe played every season for one team and was in the lottery or getting his shit pushed in in the 1st round without Pau/Shaq.
Kobe may not even be too 100.
All while the NBA tried to manufacture him as an ATG.

Agreed.
