I think I can explain this phenomenon.

Axe and RRR3 are both Bronie fluffers (i.e. people who have an unnatural man crush on Lebron). Those who defend Axe and RRR3 are Bronie fluffers themselves, and therein lies the explanation.

I've seen a pattern with the Bronies. They are almost always low-testosterone, insecure beta male types (case in point: Axe and RRR3), and they feel drawn to one another. As a result they always stick together and circle the wagons around each other.

So the answer to your question of why you would want to associate yourself with loses....if you're a loser yourself, you find a kindred spirit with other losers.
