top 5 players....is Dirk still there?

I wish Dirk played and listened to Avery Johnson more (despite Fab's ranting).

Remember back in last years playoffs? Dirk was by far one of the best players in the playoffs. It's a damn shame he choked against Miami because he had a FANTASTIC playoffs.

Game 7 against the Spurs. Spurs up 3. Dirk in a hostile environment doesn't fold or anything but takes the ball to teh rim (novel concept?), gets an And1, and Dallas conquers it's demons.

Then remember Game 6 against Phoenix? Dude put in like 50 to knock out PHX and this was when PHX was leading for majority of the game.

I dunno whether or not Dirk doesn't listen to Avery or something but damn, Dirk was REALLY good in the '05 playoffs until Game 3 of the NBA Finals. Even then, he made some clutch shots (Game 5, then DWade got that phantom foul =/). With that said, I can't defend him. But I just wish Dirk played more like Avery Johnson had him playing in '05...

2. Tim Duncan
3. LeBron James
4. Dwayne Wade
5. Kevin Garnett

I have said hundreds of times Dirk choked....so did the rest of the team though....he wasn't alone in choking....he could have averaged 30/15 against GS and the Mavs still would have lost....how many times do I need to type this sh-it for you?

I think both me and Rich can agree to that

Let's face it there are no more position players for big men. There are centers now that camp out and shoot the three (Okur) PF's that do the same (Dirk), Listed PF's that are really low post centers (Duncan) so everybody has a different role. But if you are looking at individual talents Dirk would be right behind Duncan for best BIG MAN but I don't have him top 5. Duncan is the only BIG MAN I have in the top 5. The league now is much more perimeter/guard oriented since the mid to late 90's.

In response to RICHIE2K6's comments that if you layed it all out Duncan would be greater than Kobe. I don't think so. Duncan stays on a great team, with a great coach who's franchise has been great enough and lucky enough (Draft Parker at 29) to be able to make this run. Sure maybe Kobe's ego had something to do with the Lakers breaking up and he appears to be a 6'6 cry baby, when you lay it all out he is the greatest individual talent. He is dominant on both ends of the floor.

The blueprint to win in the NBA you need 2 go to guys. A guard and a pretty dominant big man. You put KG on the lakers right now playing in Phil's triangle, they are title contenders for sure.

I wouldn't take Wade over Lebron. In my opinion, Lebron's size, speed and strength give him an advantage over Wade, however slight. Everyone's free to disagree though.
