Re: Black History Month Special: 100 Greatest Stand-Up Comedians
i've always said chris rock was a better comedian than david chappele, and also had the better show. i think kevin hart is rated way too low, should be in the top 20 at least. you could put two of his pieces against any of the top's body of work. also i think dl hughley is very underrated, and deservedly got his due.
great list overrall. and a nice body of work. i would've never known david alan grier went to yale or big shirley was named after shirley hemphill. kudos on the list :pimp:
Well to bad this isn't about influences GRANDPA
Its about whom is funnier.
DL hugley nor Chris is funnier than KEVIN HART
and I stand by my comment.
Like I said
Bill Cosby is a Curtis ****in blow
Richard pryor is RAKIM
Eddie Murphey a damn Nas/Jay z
Bill is the very basic.
He maybe a good story teller but being a fuckin story teller doesn't mean your funny.
At the end of the day being a stand up comdian is being funny and have people relating to you. and BIll fuckin Cosby doesn't do neither for me.
You don't know anything about stan up comedy. Lol at Grandpa, I'm probably younger than you. Can you explain what basic means as you keep calling Cosby basic? And you obviously don't know anything about Cosby or stand up comedy from the sounds of it. Kevin hart relates to you but not Cosby. Bet you dint even know their from the same area

You still ain't explain what a 'basic' comedian is? You watch all these stand up and "go study fo a test" is the best you could come up with?
Re: Black History Month Special: 100 Greatest Stand-Up Comedians
If you knew your shit you would not care about any Stand Up comedian other than those who could be argued in Top 20 (regardless of race or w/e else BS category) let alone doing a Top 100 Black Stand Up Comedians. I personally prefer to watch Bill Hicks, Eddie Murphy, Dave Chappelle, Ricky Gervais, Andy Parsons and a few others rather than boring myself to death trying too hard to laugh at someone cracking ripped off jokes. Stand Up is all about originality and only a limited number of people have had it in them.
Re: Black History Month Special: 100 Greatest Stand-Up Comedians
Awesome thread...don't know about the list though.
He should be in the Top 20. Maybe it's because he's not your stereotypical black comedian? :confusedshrug:
What has Michael Colyar done to make it inside the top 20 list? Yes he is hilarious, he was crazy on the Shaq roast and House Party III.
Black History Month Special: 100 Greatest Stand-Up Comedians
I went back and updated my list. I'm actually thinkin' about writing a book about on this topic, I've been researching a lot.
Anyway, over he past 2 years, I've made additions and got rid of some comics. I moved some up, and took some down.
I'll start the new list with my subtractions.
These comics were on my fist list from two years back. They are now outside my top 100 either because they just got overlapped by other comics or new additions (AJ Johnson, Kim Coles.) Or because I looked more into their career and decided they didn
Re: Black History Month Special: 100 Greatest Stand-Up Comedians
I haven't seen his 3rd special yet but Kevin Hart should move up this list. THe man has really made some very very good specials and in fact I'd argue that Grown Little Man is an all time great routine.

He was at 65 two years ago. He's moved up a lot since then.
Re: Black History Month Special: 100 Greatest Stand-Up Comedians
Wow, I'm sad and you think making fun of someone's dancing ability is racist ... I'm pretty sure people back in the day weren't saying, "Hey, this dude can't dance, let's beat him." It was much more serious than that bro.
Racism vs. Stereotyping. I guess when Damon Wayans made that joke about Asian's and rice, he's racist, or when George Lopez said that joke about black basketball players, I guess they're all racist?
The sad thing is most black people think like you.
I've heard this particular argument numerous times: "we (blacks) have no power so we can't be racist" when really blacks really are referring to institutional racism, which is only ONE type of racism.
There are different degrees of racism so just because it doesn't involve going out and lynching people, it doesn't mean it's not racist. Racism is an attitude and doesn't need to involve action. Look at the word, FFS. It's funny that the group that whines about racism the most is really the most inherently racist of any modern racial group. Blacks bring up race in almost every discussion, every argument. The obsession is unbelievable. I mean FFS they have a month dedicated to celebrating their own race.
For the record, this is how you differentiate between stereotyping and racism:
Stereotyping: "Blacks are dumb and violent"
Racism: "They are dumb and violent BECAUSE they're black"
Using race as the reason is what makes it racism. Believing one has inherently negative attributes due to race is what makes something racism. Whether you're cutting off heads or just pouting at people doesn't matter.
Re: Black History Month Special: 100 Greatest Stand-Up Comedians
Is Wyatt Cenac on the list somewhere. His album was solid.
Re: Black History Month Special: 100 Greatest Stand-Up Comedians
This idea actually started as a school project years ago. It came from Comedy Central's list on the 100 Greatest Stand-Up Comics of All-Time. I watched that 5 part special and I noticed there was a lot of folks missing (not just blacks comics, but others in general.) I did pay attention to the "others" and noticed there were 18 blacks and 2 Latins, and an Asian. You're telling there are basically 80 funny white comics out of the 100 greatest? Well, that's how this list got started back about five years or so ago for a class ... Well, recently going through my hard drive, I forgot that I had even did this. I updated it a bit, added a few more comics and BAM, there you have, over 100 comics that will be coming throughout the month of February.
There will be comics we all know and love, then they’ll be comics that you might say (who dat.) Hell, there’s comics here that you probably didn’t even know were stand-ups at all (and me either until I did the research on them.)
I'll get the list started later today ...
Charlie Murphy is in your top 100? Dude is only famous from piggybacking off not only his famous brother but also Dave Chappelle! Did you know he regularly gets booed off the stage in his standup gigs?
In short, your list sucks and you are still a moron.
