How does Shaq have an argument over Kobe/Duncan when he was pretty much done by 06? :wtf:
BIGGEST JOKE ever! Kobe winning? LeBron being second? KG being LAST?
Fans are morons.
SHOULD have been:
1. shaq
2. duncan
3. Kobe
4. KG
5. Nash
and lebron shouldnt even have been an option.
Lol how the **** is Nash #5...
are we talking 00/01 -10/11 ? because Shaq wasn't relevant for about half of this time period therefore he rightly should not have been at the top of this list and Kobe is the only one who really was great during this entire period.
Kobe haters please agree with me on this, did shaq not suck for half of this? and duncan has been unrelevant for about 1/4 of this
and yall use every excuse in the book to discredit kobe and his accomplishments. when it comes to being on all nba teams that is selected by league officials, coaches etc.... yall say "they don't know what they're talking about". When players say kobe is the greatest player they ever seen or played against yall say " They don't know what they're talking about". When historic players say Kobe is the best, the response is " What do they know they're old" (Shucks even Magic Johnson said that Kobe is better than him, and he wasn't even asked a question he took it upon himself to inform) The response is "Magic is old and just forgot about his contributions he doesn't know what he's talking about".
Now yall are saying that fans "Dont know what they're talking about"? (which makes no sense because unless your paid for your thoughts on the subject then you are a fan yourself). Let me get this straight, if league officials, coaches, players present, players past, and fans do not know what they're talking about when it comes to kobe, then who does? Is it only the knowledgeable ish posters that hold the truth?

So Kobe has been relevant from 2004-2007?
Shaq has an MVP, four rings (three of them as 'the man'), three finals MVPs and some of the most dominant playoff runs of all time (which is reflected in his numbers). Duncan has made the Spurs a perennial contender, never missed the playoffs this decade, has been in the All NBA team throughout the past ten years, won three rings as batman and two MVPs. How can some people argue that those two guys "don't have a case"?
So Kobe has been relevant from 2004-2007?
He didn't have playoff success during that time but he was putting up insane performances.

A player of the decade ranking must take into account the longevity of that player over the span of that entire decade.
Duncan has made the Spurs a perennial contender, never missed the playoffs this decade.
And yet he has lost 6 times with HCA (5 times in the 1st or 2nd round). I wouldn't call that a perennial contender.

Come on... so Kobe gets an excuse for an embarassing finals loss, a second round loss, a year when he didn't even make the playoffs and two consecutive first round exits (which amounts to half a decade, too), but we're not looking at the contexts of Duncan's or Shaq's exits?

You also failed to show the fact that he has been in four finals the past ten years ( I believe that's tops in the NBA) has 2 rings, 2 finals mvp's, 1 MVP. Has been all NBA first team all of these years, all NBA 2nd team the majority of these years, the best player In the league for a majority as well ( and please haters don't bold that in black because if he wasn't the best then at minimum even in your book he should've been at least top five).
That is hands down outside of statistics the best resume in the world not to mention the many records he broke n scored the second most points IN HISTORY!!!!! (81 is insane in this day and age).
If you want to continue to argue that's cool but you know in your heart shaq has only been relevant for half of this decade r u throwing the other half out the window? How about look up shaq and duncan and kobe's stats for this past ten years calculate it to see their average and post the results
It kills me how people keep saying that Kobe was a sidekick for half the decade...He was a star...Neither Kobe nor shaq could have gotten those ships without eachother...Both played like stars...Shaq was the more dominant obviously because he was 7'2'' and 300 pounds...But the entire decade it has to be kobe...He just won the last two and has been to the last 3 championships...The man scored 81 points...
Shaq was most dominant in his position.
Duncan was the most consistent.
Kobe had the overall consistency for the entire decade
If you're looking at it from a fan's perspective, it makes sense. Kobe bookended the decade with championships, first with Shaq and later with Gasol. Also, he had the second-highest scoring game in NBA history that decade. Finally, all last season we heard about Kobe moving up higher and the all-time scoring list. Like it or not, Kobe's kept himself in the public's mind, whereas Duncan, even if he is a better player, operates in the shadows, winning championships almost in secret. As for Shaq, in his last few seasons he hopped from team to team trying to get another ring, his 2006 performance has now been overshadowed by the focus on Wade, and the last image that the casual fan has of Shaq is him slowly jogging down the court like a zombie.
I have no explanation for Lebron, other than people really like him and have ridiculously short-term memories.
1. Duncan
2. Shaq
3. Kobe
4. KG
5. Dirk
Not hard.

Agreed.
But surprised LeBron's even in the poll. He didn't even play the whole decade!
I don't see what's wrong with Kobe as the player of the decade. It's still very debatable. Haters seem to nitpick every flaw Kobe has and always trying to bring him down.
Kobe has been consistently good throughout the decade, he has been an elite player in the league every year throughout this decade.
You can't say the same about Shaq and Duncan. (Especially Shaq, he has been hopping around teams the last few years, trying to chase a ring and finally breaking down in Boston)
