They could have turned around and gotten more for JR Smith than the 7 million Joe Smith gets them
Trading for a player so that you can trade him to some other team is one of the worst moves a GM can make.

oh baby:bowdown:
Getting A.I. for Andre may have possibly just saved their season while Melo and J.R. are out for a combined 25 games.
I bet this had a whole lot to do with the timing.....the Nuggs probably only wanted to give up 1 pick but were pressured due to their circumstances..

Iverson looks high as hell in that picture. :D

SICK!!!

So is Allen Iverson expected to score 50+ a game for the next 10-15 games?
So retrade JR Smith again? :oldlol: Overkill. You also gotta play JR Smith (after he serves his 10gm suspension) to boost his value up. Bulls gave JR Smith away for what? I dont see the Sixers benefiting much with JR Smith as an asset as I do Joe Smith who comes off the books and atleast is a respectable forward (look consider who we have, webber sits out and we got Allan Henderson).
No other teams were offering more. :confusedshrug:
I like the deal because we get 2 first round picks.
Well I think you could play JR, let him flourish in Philly, and see how important a cog he will be. If it's looking like the team would do better to trade him in the off season, that's when I think the Sixers shoud look at a trade. But as you said, this was likely the best deal the Sixers would get from Denver... However, I still think Denver cheated them somewhat...
I have a feeling we will see the old A.I. For the past few years he's been putting up great numbers, especially with the new rules, and has done so looking un-motivated and not really showing the fire he has in 2001 and back. Maybe this will rejuvinate his career, and give him that spark again. Could be scary. IMO, Andre + draft pick for A.I. is a steal for the Nuggets. Especially when you consider the circumstances.

Again, I'm not talking about right away. Let him play this season, let him put up numbers, and the re-evaluate his role on the team in the off-season. More likely than not, they wouldn't trade him... (I sure wouldn't) but JR's worth as both a player and as a trade asset is more than Joe Smith affords the Sixers.
The Nuggz had something, from the street, going with JR Smith and Melo. Now you've thrown a huge wrench into the equation with Iverson. This could be a move the Nuggz regret months from now. I'm not so sure the Nuggz didn't make this move, in part, to get talk of the brawl to subdue. They can't have their franchise player looking like a thug to all of America. They had to throw a wrench into play and now everyone is talking about Iverson in a Denver uniform. It works well in the short term. We'll see how it works out long term.
anybody thinks he'll play tomorrow against the suns? that would be a great game
and they start off 2007 playing the sixers on the 2nd, media is going to make a story out of this
If this trade clears this evening, when will Iverson play?
The Sixers didn't get robbed, which would've been the case in many other trade scenarious. I really like the draft picks for 07. I'm not too sure about Andre Miller, I've never particularly liked him, but well.
When Melo comes back and the Nuggets are healthy (or almost healthy, considering they always have some kind of health problems), their starting five is one mean machine. Here's to hoping it works out well for Denver and Iverson, I really wish the lil warrior all the best!
long term? how long? 2-3 years?
the trade was made for now. melo is the future.
