After the Gobert trade, a league source told The Tribune that more than a handful of teams called the Jazz to inquire about the availability of Mitchell — and the Jazz’s front office shut them all down. Those conversations, the Jazz felt, were league executives trying to pounce on a perceived opportunity to trade for Mitchell cheaply.

According to a league source, one offer came from Miami even before the Gobert trade was finalized. The Jazz, though, found that offer insufficient. In addition, Miami’s win-now roster has limited picks and young players to trade.
These additions to the team are already looking like fun players, and people, to get to know, and root for and is making this upcoming season seem much more interesting than last year. Yes, the Utah Jazz will be a worse team, but they’ll be interesting for the first time in years, and that’s something to be happy about.
I find them interesting every year at least to start. Usually burn out on it by the end. This past season House and Juancho actually made the end a little more interesting too. This year is certainly interesting just to see what kind of lineup Mitchell ultimately sucks with
Not sure we will be worse this year. Getting 3 NBA players for 1. Maybe 4 if Kessler is any good. Huge upgrades in perimeter defense with Vanderbilt and Beverley and another proven scorer in Beasley. Sign or trade for another center who will be able to replace 90% of Rudy's production (Hassan and Dok did last year when forced to play) and we are set. We weren't that good of a team last year in the second half. Could easily be better this year.
Whiteside and Dok 90% of a HOFer! Maybe Embiid or Jokic is available?

Seriously? He should have a statue going up with him saluting but I'm sure won't now that they've decided it's Mitchell's team
Gobert was never an offensive threat, and seemingly didn’t improve that side of his game throughout his tenure in Utah, but his presence on the defensive end can’t be denied, as he went on to win three Defensive Player of the Year awards in 2018, 2019 and 2021. The defensive minded center’s in today’s game are becoming fewer and fewer by the year, as most are opting to improve their offensive game and focus solely on stretching the floor, but as an old-school big man, Gobert managed to impact the game on that end of the floor like few players have in a long, long time.
the top offensive rating ever. If only he wasn't so useless!
I do not want to overreact to one game, but Juzang needs his shots to fall. It’s a good thing that he was trigger-happy all night, and hopefully, as summer play continues he starts to hit those shots, but in his small showing thus far I was hoping for some electrifying results. Maybe too much was put on him, but if he wants to play in the NBA he needs to make shots, or at least better choices with the ball.
how often are their electrifying results in summer league especially in someone's first game
Re: 2022 off season Post Gobert. A new era begins
https://thejnotes.com/2022/07/11/utah-jazz-5-best-summer-league-players-history/
2014 was his second summer stint, and the first one in 2013 was forgettable. No one watching knew the talent that he would eventually become, because in five games he only put up five points and six boards. He did, however, average 2.4 blocks that year.
a mere months before he turned the teams fortunes around!
Aside from total points, Hood was a much better all-around player. He could shoot, pass, and rebound better, and his defense was comparable, if not better. Hood is fifth in Utah summer scoring and fourth in minutes. He never erupted for over thirty, but he was a consistent 15ppg guy who knew how to find the open man. Despite averaging one less point than Burks, he comes in ahead simply because of his well-rounded game. Looking at his Summer League play, it’s a wonder he didn’t become a do-all starter in the league for more than two seasons.
Hood was a better rebounder and passer than Burks? It's a wonder that Hood can't even make it as a 6th man because he can't stay on the floor.
Lyles is second all-time in summer scoring for Utah, fourth in rebounds, and third in minutes. In two summer seasons, he averaged 17 points, but in his games in 2016 he went off, scoring 13, 26, 22, 28, then 30. He was always a double-double threat, and he could step outside to knock down the shot from deep.
I thought he was awful that year. Jazz made a big mistake putting the ball in his hands. He suddenly thought he was his hero Kobe and was never the same after that
You knew this was coming, right? I mean, he’s arguably the best Jazz player since the 1990s, so of course, he balled out in the Summer League. Donovan Mitchell is first in points, minutes, and steals so that alone is enough to rank number one on pretty much any list.
he's not better than Rudy, Hayward, Millsap, Deron, AK, Boozer...top 7 maybe?
At the end of the day, Mitchell is a franchise player with multiple All-Star appearances and is one of the best scorers in the game. Ball, on the other hand, never really got much better after his rookie year, so I guess Utah fans got the last laugh.
we'll soon see if he's a franchise player or even an all-star. I'm guessing he's not
