It was denied by the white house about 30 minutes after your initial post and you only posted about it again because I called you out on it, otherwise you would've silently pretended you didn't come on here just to confirm some fake news as true.
Called me out on it? I didn't make the news. :oldlol:
I was just trying to explain the market flip, and that was the reason. This is a thread about the stock market. If you found out it was fake 30 min after maybe YOU should have said something then. I was just explaining the market flip.

Yes, you didn't post about it again until I sarcastically asked you for video.
You didn't just try to explain the market flip, the story was about a rumor of Trump considering pausing tariffs for 90 days and you confirmed that rumor by saying that "Trump has come out and said".

Yeah? that rumor (That Trump was going to pause for 90 days) is why the market reversed yesterday. There are a lot of articles about that viral rumor today. I linked you one did you read it? Everyone bit on it. You're trying to use it as some sort of gotcha moment but the entire market bit on it.

Yes and you confirmed the rumor by claming that "Trump has said", like it was in a press conference or some shit.

Yes, because that is what myself and the rest of the stock market read happened. I read that was the reason for the reversal (and it was) and I relayed it in here.

Uh, you are suggesting that the rumors themselves never happened?
The 90 day pause was trending all over social media, here is a story about it:
https://www.forbes.com/sites/tylerroush/2025/04/07/trump-90-day-tariff-pause-rumor-causes-stock-whipsaw-before-white-house-calls-it-fake-news-heres-what-happened/
It spurred from a misinterpretation of an interview with Kevin Hassett, director of the National Economic Council -
During his interview, Hassett was asked whether Trump could call a “90-day timeout” on his tariffs, to which Hassett responded: “I think the president will decide what the president is going to decide.”

Re: Stock Market is f*cked
And where I saw the 90-day pause trending? All over Twitter. The supposed word of truth lol

I'm suggesting that Trump never said anything about it and that no story yesterday claimed that Trump had come out and said anything about it, yet you confirmed that "he had come out and said".
Yes it was only some rumors that he was thinking about it and they were BS, but that's beside the point.

Obviously Trump never said anything about it . I thought that was already understood here. The rumors were that Trump SAID he was contemplating a 90-day time out because Hassett made it sound that way and it went viral.
I said that "Trump said" because if that is rumor was true? That is literally the only way it could be true, coming out of Trump's mouth.
You're trying really hard to find some sort angle to score a tribal point, but there isn't one I'm sorry.

Re: Stock Market is f*cked
You really want to get me? let's see all these tariffs send us into a recession free bull market.
When that happens, I'll say "you were right and I was wrong"

Oh damn, just noticing another reversal today, unfortunately the other way.
Perhaps all the "winning" reported earlier today was also fake news.

When you say that Trump has come out and said something, you make it sound like he's actually said it. It's annoying as hell to peddle fake news like that, for a moment there I thought it was true and was looking for video of a press conference or interview. Had you just posted a link in your initial post to where you read it, I would've instantly realized that it was actually someone other than Trump who had said something, and that it was still totally unconfirmed speculation based on bad interpretation of an answer in an interview.

This just shows you don't get it. I don't care about a bull market, I care about more American quality jobs, especially in the midwest.

Everyone thought it was true. And obviously everyone thought this was something Trump actually said at some point. But it wasn't. It was fake.
FWIW brand of fake news was a simple misunderstanding, and not something MSM was trying to do to make Trump look bad. I mean, I think most people wish the news was real. The market certainly did. But it's not real, there is no 90-day pause. I'm sorry that rumor went nuts but I will not take ownership of what happened.

I guarantee you that most people didn't believe that piece of news. They don't trust CNBC like you do, and for good reason too considering on such an important topic that instead of them watching the interview with Hessell on Fox and interpreting his answers themselves, they ended up taking a horrible interpretation from a random Twitter account. The tweets didn't even pretend to have more information than what was said in that interview which was publicly available at the time CNBC created this story.
Yeah, you're in the wrong thread then. This thread is about the stock market. Hence me relaying the reasonings behind yesterday's swing.
And my comment responding to you relates to the stock market. If this is nothing but a cheering thread for a stock market bull run, it's on the wrong board.

Re: Stock Market is f*cked
Absolutely most people believed it. The market swung 4% on it which is massive.
Granted, it's been massive swings almost every day lately, including today. But that piece of news caused a $billions in swing. Maybe even a $Trillion.

The only country that matters is China and it doesn't look like they'll be folding.
Walmart is the biggest employer in the U.S. and almost everything they sell is from China.
A 104% tariff on China is a 104% tax on Americans unless you think every single product from China will magically be replaced with American products over night. Even if that did happen, you think American made products will be remotely close to China made products? Inflation about to skyrocket.

Re: Stock Market is f*cked
Funniest headline I've ever read on CNN:
Trump says countries are ‘kissing my a**’ as they look to make tariff deals
I can't help but laugh at that one.
-
Re: Stock Market is f*cked
Yup hold the line. Negotiate when the best offer is available.
No one believes these tariffs are permanent. For those even thinking that are dumb. This is to help US position in trade to help US manufacturers compete with the world that does not have the barriers the US workforce has to face.
-
Re: Stock Market is f*cked
Does the negotiating part also mean that the US has to be assholes towards the rest of the world, ruining good relationships with a lot of countries?

Exactly. You can read in rawimpact's pro-tariff posts, it is coming from an "us vs them" perspective. But for the healthiest economies, it should be coming from the perspective of "we are all on the same team here". It should be from the perspective of what works best for everyone involved, working together, helping each other out, doing each other favors.

I thought this morning was going to be a blood bath after China announced an 84% rise in tariffs on U.S.
-
Re: Stock Market is f*cked
“I’m telling you, these countries are calling us up, kissing my ass,” Trump told the National Republican Congressional Committee Dinner late Tuesday — just hours before the tariffs went into effect.
“They are. They are dying to make a deal. ‘Please, please, Sir, make a deal. I’ll do anything. I’ll do anything, sir!’” he said mockingly.

Absolutely. We have been abused as a country. We have been giving out money to numerous third world countries while we at home have homeless problems, an obvious mental health issue etc.
Why dont you be specific, who are we being an asshole to?

Yes and China is now voicing their displeasure with Vance calling them "peasants"
This is not the correct angle to negotiate good deals. A salesman would never try to sell someone with "let's make a deal you peasant".

All that crying you did yesterday about the news we both thought was fake is now real. That doesn't make you happy? You have to move the goal posts to those other things?
I mean, even for someone who doesn't care one bit about the actual information of the news, only that validity of it, you should now be relieved. Why are you not?
