Why didn't some of those athletes participate? Basketball may be the only sport where the combine hurts draft stock.
I wanna see those abilities showcased! Vertical leap is like the 40 of the NFL!

Explain why Okafor, Towns, and Mudiay didn't attend smart guy :coleman:

And just as irrelevant.

You think the NFL Combine can't hurt someone's draft stock? WTF kind of nonsense is that?
And just as irrelevant.
So you never base your opinion on a player based on that performance? You're lying if you say you've never been interested in those stats.

Sure, I'm interested when someone runs a real fast 40 or jumps real high, but how that's supposed to make them great at basketball or football is beyond me. I have no idea why it's talked up so much. What matters is how a player performs in a game.
Jerry Rice and Emitt Smith didn't exactly run blazing 40s. Bird and Magic didn't exactly leap out of the gymn.

So why does EVERY football athlete attend smart guy?
More football athletes have increased draft stock than hinder it AND makes names for themselves. That's undeniable. Take a look at Brashad Perriman and Byron Jones
And you STILL didn't answer my question. Why didn't Towns, Okafor, and Mudiay attend?

Sample sized examples. Those are just the exceptions, not the standards. More athletes help their draft stock by attending. For every Jerry Rice there's a Zack Lavine and then some

What do they have to prove? They all know they are going top 5

agreed, if people realized Westbrook only has a 36.5 inch vertical there is noway theyd see him as MVP potential
What do they have to prove? They all know they are going top 5
Nice diplomatic answer. But, the real answer is protecting draft stock. They don't attend because of draft stock, not the other way around. Russell may have just solidified being picked over Mudiay by attending.
If it's not a good measuring stick then why do NFL prospects put a lot of investment in it?

Great sarcasm! :applause:
We're talking draft stock, not career defining
I believe the top picks have private and team wotkouts.

This...
Why bother with the combine when teams will just want to look at you up close anyways
