I think they’re shooting to be funny and make the inside the NBA concept more modern. Blake Griffin is an actual real life, stand-up comedian if you didn’t know. And Dirk has always been pretty clever and funny if you listen to him have real conversations. And I don’t think either of them are going to be too prone to the “In my day….” ex player takes.

I feel like they need one more guy, though. Jeff Teague or Jason Williams would absolutely kill it, especially since Amazon doesn’t have the FCC to worry about.

Sounds pretty good, I think Blake and Dirk have personalities that mesh and will allow the entertainment to happen organically. Which is what it's all about. Not the ESPN "We need 1 of everybody" garbage which makes their shows unwatchable. TNT for example is three black males and one white male, and nobody cares what the diversity count is because they have chemistry together and it's an entertaining show.

ESPN thinks they have to represent every group at every moment, and ends up throwing Stephen A, Bob Meyers, Mike Wilbon, Perk and a randomly selected woman into a blender, and it's always completely awkward and terrible. And it's not any of the analysts fault individually, they just dont have anything in common with one another so it comes off awkward and forced. PTI was a huge success because Kornheiser and Wilbon had their style, Stephen A and Skip Bayless :lol was a good pairing I guess because they had a common 'stir the pot' shtick and so on. The 'forced diversity' era has also made NFL pregame shows awkward and worthless too. Actually I know nobody here cares but it's also creeping into the chess broadcast world and is killing the entertainment value there. Forcible diversity just makes for extremely awkward exchanges. It's not entertaining.

I know big corporate wealth mongers want to put every single consumer possible under their umbrella, and RRR3 supports that wholeheartedly and nobrainedly because he's an ugly loser with no ability and needs to suck rich dick to feel relevant to someone somehow... but when it comes to entertainment it just doesnt work. People dont mesh when theyre not familiar with each other. It's just bad product.

And there's no workaround. When you put that kind of shit product out there, people arent going to watch it. Sorry ABC Media billionaires.

If he has chemistry with the other guys it's fine, but if there's not a comfort level there it's just weird.

Guys have to be on the same page, be comfortable roasting each other and so on. It's sort of hard to do that with people when you arent personally familiar with them AND they're culturally different from you because everyone's worried every little joke or comment is gonna come off deeper than it really is, and things just end up feeling mechanical.

I dunno how well Teague and Dirk and Blake all know each other, but if there's already a comfort level there it might work fine. If youre just adding another guy to add another angle and they all have no rapport together... it's not a good formula.

With a woman in there, you can't create what inside the NBA has.

The locker room talk is immediately gone. That's what makes Inside the NBA so good.
