According to Trump's press secretary, Trump already knew where Elon stood on the bill and they had discussions prior but Trump didn't care.

Re: Trouble in paradise? Musk slams Trump's "big beautiful bill"
All these politicians need to get serious about cutting spending - not increasing it. But they want to get re-elected - not do what's best for the country.

Whose to say it's a breakup? Why can't they just have a disagreement?
They should hold hands in tandem on every single thing?

maybe bc elon has officially left his administration at the same time that he openly criticized trump's bill...:confusedshrug:
and he used pretty stern words to describe the BBB
This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it."
No, I'm saying it's perfectly possible to have a disagreement over one thing while still having a working relationship.
I don't think this will be the thing that fuels an all out war between the two. I doubt Trump will be giving Elon a mean nickname any time soon.
If anything this should dispel the whole oligarchy myth or that Trump is beholden to Elon.

Dems instantly in love with Musk again... they'll beg him to be their Rogan.

Musk will never be forgiven by the left, there is nothing he could do, even if he went full on TDS. He has passed the point of forgiveness.

I will say, I actually side with Trump on this. At least the part of the Bill that Musk is at ends with anyway. The Federal Spending part.
Most people have a very elementary understanding of the National Debt, and I think that Musk falls into that. He hasn't really taken a dive into why it matters, he just knows "we can't keep spending like this!!!!!" But the reality is, that YES, we can. Forever. That is a huge part of why the US is above every other nation. We spend, and because of that spending, we create. We create MORE than they do. They should spend more, and grow and grow and grow, like us.
The part of the debt that FED loans out? They aren't looking to collect. If interest becomes too high? We lower rates. If inflation becomes too great? we raise rates, remove cash from the system. It works and has been working.

Disagree.
Look how quickly they forgave Dick Cheney.
The left was about to ready to lick his daughter's c*nt.

The left does love Liz Cheney, but not Dick Cheney. We are capable of understanding those are two different humans.

I was JUST bout to bring up W lol, Trump was literally the greatest thing to happen to that man's reputation. I won't say it's done a complete 180, but he's looked at in a far better light now than he was after he left office.
Re: Trouble in paradise? Musk slams Trump's "big beautiful bill"
it is a shit bill. it's uniparty 101, but it's all on the republicans lets make that much clear. expect nothing less from house republicans and cuckboy mike johnson who's primary goal above all is to grant their donors their tax cuts that they were promised, debt be damned. i don't ever want to hear congressional republicans cry about how dems may end up spending recklessly anytime down the line because they don't give a god damn about the debt, aside from this thomas massie who's apparently the only principled republican that's speaking out against it.

look at that - cuts to ss programs to pad the pockets of the rich, at a time in history where the wealth disparity is at an all time high, we just saw the largest transfer of wealth during covid and the middle class still continues to shrink. it costed one trllion $ last year to service the debt. lol. what a joke our congress is. honestly it doesn't matter anyway - it's far too gone to reverse at this point.

politicians? how about calling this out for what is it - republican politicians. it's not hard.
