Re: Damian Lillard waived
That’s such a weird combination of things. Is Turner supposed to be enough to make Giannis want to stay or do they just figure they have to make a token effort? And what does he gain By leaving Indiana to another relatively small market That probably isn’t paying him any better?
Or maybe Indiana is punting on the next couple seasons I didn’t offer him the money?
Feels like none of the coveted players are going where it makes sense.
I guess dame gets to pick a contender to retire with now
Re: Damian Lillard waived
Definitely didn't see that coming, didn't even think of that as an option.
I'd say he's now the top candidate to take whatever LA can offer with them hoping he's back for the playoffs.

Thats what I read. He wanted to stay in Indy, they wouldnt go in the tax to keep him, especially in light of the Reese injury.
And I agree with you about the trade from Milwaukee's perspective. Turner is a nice player, a good pickup in a vacuum. But this does not get them back in contention. Altho I guess maybe they figure just get him while they can and flip him down the road if need be.

I know back in the day you couldn’t sign a free agent off a crushin certain level and trade them before December I don’t know anymore.
You figure if they trade Giannis, they will have no trouble finding someone to give them two or three first rounders for Turner.
Re: Damian Lillard waived
The Pacers going to tank for 1 year and get a nice rookie for 2026-27 when Haliburton returns.
Re: Damian Lillard waived
From the Athletic:
League sources say Lillard is elated with this decision, as it puts him in the kind of basketball-first position that few All-Star level players, if any, have experienced in league history. In short, he'll be able to join the contending team of his choosing, either sometime soon or perhaps next summer, without the financial aspect of the decision playing a significant part.

Absolutely. I don't know what they were thinking.
Re: Damian Lillard waived
jrue was over the hill when he was playing for MLK
He'd shoot 2-12 in the first half , then 2nd half look like he was going to save the game and went 6-8....
possessions were terrible for him.
His championship defensive year was his max.
Even when he played for Celtics .. he looked like an old dog.

Jrue was a below-average offensive player in Milwaukee. The last chance the Bucks had at doing anything in the POs (Middleton injured but rest of team healthy) Jrue was bricking it up while Giannis was doing everything against Boston and they failed to close it out because Holiday was not good enough to be a #2. They had a chance to go up 3 - 1 at home and Holiday put up a 5/22 shooting performance and was a -23 in an 8-point loss. They had to make a trade to get more offense on that team.
Dame trade would've worked out if they had been healthy. There isn't much you can do when Middleton never recovered from his injuries and Giannis was injured last year and of course it culminated with a Dame injury this season. Just bad luck.
Goodbye giannis
This is a move the Bucks made in order to keep Giannis happy. They took the cap hit on Dame's contract but were able to get Turner on the squad as a result. 2026 is so wide open at least in the EC that they tripled down lol.
