Lakers drop Sun Yue. Repeating might be harder now....
http://www.insidehoops.com/blog/?p=4657
The Los Angeles Lakers have waived guard Sun Yue, it was announced today.
“With the talent level and depth of our roster, the situation simply doesn’t provide an opportunity for Sun Yue to get the chance to play that he deserves,” said General Manager Mitch Kupchak. “We feel it is in Sun’s best interests to be able to go to a team where he can get the minutes to play and showcase his considerable talents. We appreciate Sun’s contributions to last season’s championship team, and wish him the best of luck with the rest of his career.”

Please Suns, get him!
Yue in Run N Gun would be like a healthy Yao Ming in a midgets league.

That was kind of boilerplate.
"Horrible player is cut, joke about how team will miss him greatly....". C'mon, we can do better.

I hope he makes some roster. Then, when people ask which NBA player has the hottest chick (IMO) I can still say Sun Yue does :D

Re: Lakers drop Sun Yue. Repeating might be harder now....

how can you say he's terrible when he only play maybe average 2 mins a game, he has long arms aggressive on defends, just need to get develop by a team. hope he find a new team

Re: Lakers drop Sun Yue. Repeating might be harder now....
I'm pretty sure the Lakers would have kept Sun Yue around but he failed to play in the summer league (instead playing for China) and the Lakers financial situation.

There's a reason he only played 2 minutes a game.

Probably 4th best Chinese player that ever set a foot in the NBA

Re: Lakers drop Sun Yue. Repeating might be harder now....
Miami's interest in Odom was just a head-fake. We made the Lakers overpay for Odom because we knew they'd have to cut Sun! Now, we can sign him for the league minimum, knowing full well that he's going to turn into a new, Asian Earvin Johnson! When we pair him with Wade in the backcourt, it will be just as if back in the 80s, Magic would have came to play with Michael in Chicago or the MJs had run the floor together for LA. Brilliantly played, Pat!

Anyone know if Mbenga is staying?

Hopefully he can find a team that is willing to let him develop.

Re: Lakers drop Sun Yue. Repeating might be harder now....
I saw this coming. Its too much money at this point, but I would have kept him over Josh Powell.

He had an option that got picked up. Hes here for at least 1 more year. He's pretty underrated if you ask me.

Re: Lakers drop Sun Yue. Repeating might be harder now....
Didn't some Lakers fan call him a 6'9 Chinese Magic Johnson.:oldlol:
At 6'9 with ballhandling ability he would thrive back home in China or in Europe for that matter. From what I read about him before the Draft is that he needs work refining his offensive game and utilizing his height better.
You're 6'9, play like you're 6'9.

Re: Lakers drop Sun Yue. Repeating might be harder now....
Atleast he got a ring out of it.

Re: Lakers drop Sun Yue. Repeating might be harder now....

This will make a huge impact on broadcasting LA's game. Too bad.

Re: Lakers drop Sun Yue. Repeating might be harder now....
Houston should sign him. I heard they have an opening in their Asian division.

Powell at least serves a need. Sure he wont see much time, but any FC injury and hes the first big off the bench (as of now).
