i should hope he beat kemp's highest reach by 4"...
kemp was 6 inches shorter than ralph sampson, which translates into a lot of arm length.

If that's true then how do you explain that Shaq is almost 4" taller than Kemp, and has a 7'7" wingspan and 9'8" standing reach(same as Yao Ming), but Kemp's highest touch is 3" more than Shaq?

why does it always have to be about shaq. give it up. :violin:
BTW, here are pre draft measurements of standing reach, standing vertical jump, and highest standing jump touch of various NBA players.

wait... are you just asking me if my opinion ("i should hope so") is true?
or are you asking me if kemp is really 6'10", compared to Sampson's 7'4"?

Because Shaq weighs a lot more than all of these guys :confusedshrug: plus Shawn Kemp had mad hops. Still, Shaq has more career dunks and blocks than any of them, so who cares about his highest touch. He got up there. Stop hating.
Because you hate Shaq.
Lol
Haha I'm really stoned right now, so maybe that's the reason, but I thought it was hilarious when I opened this and was surprised that it wasn't about Shaq only to read down for his true intentions of the post. :oldlol:

No Shaq's standing reach has been measured at 'only' 9,5". I don't want to go through the trouble of going the source I got that from but you can be certain that there is noway his standing reach is the same as Yao's. As for his vertical during his prime, I am not sure but I am definite that it was over 30 inches.
Dwight Howard, in his sleep.

Maybe because Shaq weighed a 100 ****ing lbs more...so didn't jump quite as high.

So what, Lebron James weighs almost 100 lbs more than Reggie Miller did and that didn't hurt his jumping ability. Lebron James' real weight is about 275 lbs.

Reggie miller was skinny and LeBron is buffed up. LeBron has a low body fat percentage. He's all muscle, way stronger than Reggie.
Shaq has always been .. big. He's struggled with his weight a few times during his career. But who cares? Shaq was/is a freak of nature. His size, his weight, his strength, his hops. He got up there....

Shaq's not really that great an athlete overall, just for being over 300 he's a great athlete. Even a guy like Brock Lesnar when he was over 300lbs had a much higher vertical and a MUCH faster 40 time than Shaq for example.
Also, Shaq's amazing 7'7" wingspan and 9'8" wingspan make him more like a 7'4 or 7'5" guy than a 7'1" guy. He has the same standing reach as Yao Ming.
Shaq's vertical is only 6" more than Yao Ming 32 vs 26".
Shaq should have been blocking 5 shots a game if he was really as good an athlete as he was supposed to be with a 9'8" standing reach.
Shaq's highest touch with a standing jump is 12'4", undersized Olajuwon's is 12'6".
Ralph Sampson's 12'11". Wilt Chamberlain's probably was 13'2" or 13'4".
Shaq is probably the WORST SHOT BLOCKER EVER of anyone with a 9'8" standing reach or higher per minute.

So in the first part you admit he's a great athlete. Shaq was fast as hell. No really. I bet Brock Lesnar was faster and could jump higher... but uh who the Fck is that? Some wrestler right? He could probably beat up Shaq too. Why isnt he in the basketball hall of fame than? I dint get that 7'7/9'8 wingspan thing. He's not 7'4?? he's 7'1.. 7'2 at most. Olajuwon, Chamberlain and Sampson were great athletes. The first two might've even been better basketball players than Shaq, but I'm not getting into that conversation.
Shaq is one of the most freakishly gifted athletes ever. His speed, hops, strength were sick. You post a lot facts (standing reach, highest touch etc.) but please link me to something to prove that stuff. Nd who cares anwyway. He's not a bad shotblocker, a career average of 2.3 BPG is sick. He's 7th on the all time block list. Shaq is one of the best centers ever. Let it go you moron.

I didn't say Shaq was 7'4", I said Shaq had the standing reach COMPRABLE TO A 7'4" MAN.
He could hi five a normally proportioned 7'4" man without having to be on his tippy toes.

I can't believe wasting time on this, but: a few facts
Shaq was not 300lbs, he was 330 to 360 during his prime, and a legit 7'1. Most guys anywhere near that size are complete stiffs that can barely run. Shaq had a 30+inch vert, was very coordinated, explosive and freakishly agile. You can certaintly attack Shaq's work ethic and defensive intensity...but physically he was just as big a freak as Lebron James (just scaled up).
And Brock (who I've been a huge fan of since his Minnesota days) is 6'4 285 ( his Vert was in the mid 30's, right around the 36 inches Shaq tested at the predraft combine)...and was never over, or even at, 300lbs.
Sometime the WWE likes to exaggerate things. He is a phenomenal athlete though, just one nowhere near the size of Shaq.

This looks pretty legit. Do you have a source for this by chance? I'm trying to put together some of this data. It's crazy how often vertical jumps are exaggerated, even from Wilt's day to Artis Gilmore to Deandre Ayton all claiming 40+ inch verticals...yet, all are 7'0"-7'2", but yet none of them ever hit their head on the rim nor are there any accounts (reported) or photos of any of them hitting their heads on the rim. So we're looking at 34-36 inches as a max and working our way down.
Here's Deandre's Tweet...
