Anyone Here Hates Suicide?
I mean who Doesnt? But ya know what i mean ,, I hate this shit the most..
Damn old folks (Homer, middle aged guys) in the gym tryna get me back in shape.. they were like hell no *name*
they my homies tho.
they let me run suicide 2 laps , wait no , They Forced me to run 2 laps of suicides... and not just that... they forced me to do 8 laps around the court.
i almost died out there... I used to be buffed and shit then i got lazy and started messin around..
I could run about 10+ of suicides before.
ahh shit I was so close before..
im 16 years old ,... still got time..
Right?
p.s. When i started playin again , Is it normal to get exhausted on a game of 21?
Its my body system its really weak right now... maybe half court sprint is shit for me.

Re: Anyone Here Hates Suicide?
Man, I hate running in general.
I used to run suicides with a ball because that is the only way I'll do it on my own.

Re: Anyone Here Hates Suicide?
Ok tbh i bit giggled irl when i red that u almost died of that amount of work, but you should be fine if you continue working. After u feel that it's helping it will be easier and u will be a lot more motivated. Suicide drills are good for basketball cause in basketball u shouldn't be running at same speed all the time like when u run laps around the court, use laps around the court for warm up.

Re: Anyone Here Hates Suicide?
I had this one coach who made my team do them like crazy I swear he was a tad bit sadistic . Got me into shape though.

Re: Anyone Here Hates Suicide?
all men feel pain, either the pain of losing or the pain of hard work.

wow that brings back memories :facepalm
suicides are annoying too, but it just sounds like you're out of shape. running some hard sprints every day will change that.

i usually lift before i play. the first week or two i couldn't shoot a lick after i lifted, but i've been doing it for a good six months now and my body is used to it. the key is to do form shooting for a while after you lift.

Gotta agree with that...

Re: Anyone Here Hates Suicide?
I don't hate suicides as much as I hate jumping. my coach makes me jump 100 times in 3 rounds. I already die by the 30th one, so it seems as if I'm fainting.

Re: Anyone Here Hates Suicide?
damn , just noticed something that my knee is weak... wow , I can run but my knee gets weak after 5-6 times when i run up and down the court..

Re: Anyone Here Hates Suicide?

i hate them though, but good memories

Re: Anyone Here Hates Suicide?
I never really minded them because I was always in shape during basketball season.. but now that I'm no longer on any teams I would probably hate it. :lol

Re: Anyone Here Hates Suicide?
Depends on why you have to run them. As a means of getting into shape, yes I hate them, as a punishement I like them.
Off course they are never fun to do... that's their point, but you can't argue with how effective they are.

Re: Anyone Here Hates Suicide?
I actually liked them. Especially when you get timed and you give it your all so you finish under the time limit.

Re: Anyone Here Hates Suicide?
I love suicide. It improves my stamina and endurance.

Re: Anyone Here Hates Suicide?
Pain is just weakness leaving the body.

These are two great quotes.

Re: Anyone Here Hates Suicide?
I had a coach that didn't give a shit and ran us like crazy.
One time I declined to do the running drills cause they were excessive and he benched me.
I gave him the 100% silent treatment. The team got blown out while I was on the bench and he put me in the next game and stopped overrunning us.
Felt good, man. I'm all for tough love and hard work, but it was stupid. He wasn't even doing basketball drills in some practices.

Re: Anyone Here Hates Suicide?
What kind of time limits were you guys looking at when you ran suicides? At what point do you think suicides cease being productive?
As a coach, I've been toying with my running philosophy. I've often found if I make a habit of pushing for a long string of what I expect to be sprinting drills, players will pace themselves, thus nullifying the effects I desire. I tend to believe the true value of something like a suicide is to enable a player to build their sprinting speed over a semi-extended period of time.
Another running drill I loved and mostly hated at the same time in high school was something we called a Vegas. I'm sure everyone else here has done a variation, only under a different name. We were required to run the width of the court 15 times in one minute (running to one sideline was 1, to the other was 2, so on...). It was doable enough for most of us that we probably could have extended the number to 16, but it was still quite taxing.

Re: Anyone Here Hates Suicide?
Here if you don't do that drill you got bench by the coach.
