Jackson Agrees with Cuban Criticizes 2006 Finals Officiating
Before the Lakers played in Dallas on Saturday night, Jackson said he believes the outspoken owner’s criticism of referees might have cost the Mavericks the 2006 NBA finals against the Miami Heat.

“I think he’s toned it down a little bit the last few years. That Miami finals really was a tough one to swallow,” Jackson said. “I think (Dwyane) Wade averaged about 25 foul shots a game. You couldn’t even touch him. That was really tough to swallow and I think he understood there’s kind of a pecking order in this league and you keep your mouth shut at times.”
“I’ve already gotten fined for that. I’m not going to touch it again,” Cuban said when asked to respond to what Jackson had just said in another room down the hall. “My opinion hasn’t changed on that series, and it never will.”
Meh wasn't as bad as 2002 WCF Tim Donaughy Lakers.

Re: Jackson Agrees with Cuban Criticizes 2006 Finals Officiating
That Finals series was a travesty. There should be an asterisk next to it in all the record books. Anyone who thinks that Stern isn't a bitter little piece of sh*t obviously never met the guy. What can you expect, though.
-
Re: Jackson Agrees with Cuban Criticizes 2006 Finals Officiating
David Stern must really hate Mark Cuban.

Remember when they had senate hearings on steroid abuse in baseball?
They were after Mark McGuire, Barry Bonds, ect
I always wondered why the senate committee didn`t go after Stern and Donaughy to get to the bottom of the accusations.
I would have liked this to be totally brought out into the open.
In all, I would rather our senate stay out of sports, but if there is dirty going on, I want to know.

Re: Jackson Agrees with Cuban Criticizes 2006 Finals Officiating
miami's 2006 title is probably the least respected championship in nba history
even less than the shortend season title in 1999 for the spurs

Each crying call shown on the video is still called today,, right or wrong.
Especially the 5th on Pollard,, he stepped out to block, feet moving, still a foul today.
nicely done video though,, fades,,, sac players shaking their head, tears,, the whole shaaabang. :lol

Re: Jackson Agrees with Cuban Criticizes 2006 Finals Officiating
By rigging the 2006 Finals Stern sent a loud and clear message to all club owners to not even think about questioning his authority. Simple as that. And of course he hated Cuban's guts.

cause the same crap happend in sacramento... the refs gave the home teams bs calls in that series. and nothings changed since then
every year the home team wins 90% of the time.. why? its not cause the teams just play better because of people cheering... no ... its cause the cheering influinces the calls
so to answer peoples questions. yes that game was gifted to LA... as was the game to the kings in sacramento ... and even in LA in game 6 the kings somehow shot 10 more ft's... so not only were the kings getting home court. they got all the calls in a road game too
notice they dont make a video for game 7... because that was in sacramento and the free throws were actually about even... the lakers just beat them fare and sqaure

What's new? Mavs got robbed and stern was in on it the whole time...
old news~

Re: Jackson Agrees with Cuban Criticizes 2006 Finals Officiating
Why couldn't the Kings win a Game 7 at home??
The "fix" would have been irrelevant if they could have just not choked at home the next game.
-
Re: Jackson Agrees with Cuban Criticizes 2006 Finals Officiating
I remember the Kings missing like 15 freethrows in game 7
but most people like to blame the refs and stern when their teams doesnt win
-
Re: Jackson Agrees with Cuban Criticizes 2006 Finals Officiating
I have an odd feeling that Cuban and Jackson have a secret best buddies that go to bars during Friday nights.

Re: Jackson Agrees with Cuban Criticizes 2006 Finals Officiating
How many FT's did Wade average that series?I know that in game 5, Dwyane Wade made 21-25 FT, and the Heat won by a point.
Funny how that doesn't show up on NBA.com's finals records, for most FT made huh?
-
Re: Jackson Agrees with Cuban Criticizes 2006 Finals Officiating
holy ****, shaq shot 39 free throws in a game?!?!?

It did. It was the only time in playoffs history where one player took more FTs than an entire team combined in a single game

Re: Jackson Agrees with Cuban Criticizes 2006 Finals Officiating
Mavs had ton of chances to win despite the poor officiating. The travesty in that series was that the mavs were so much better than the heat that despite the screw job they still had a chance to win almost every game. They choked at every turn.

Powe 13 FTs. Lakers 10 FTs.
Lakers have been screwed at times too. That game was complete BS and I will never forget it.

yea...no excuses.
in reality though. i can only imagine how frustrating it must be to know you are the better team and feel like you are getting jobbed on call after call. i mean, at some point, it becomes mentally draining and you are constantly trying to not foul rather than stop a player and team.
the nba really lost itself that season. the inflated numbers are just laughable and it culminated in team basketball dying in front of us with wade going 1 on 5 and the rules being so soft that he could do it and do it well.
i blame the nba for the rules changes back in 05 for what happened in 06. they wanted more perimeter scoring...and they got it. they got exactly what they wanted.
the kings/lakers series was just rigged imo. game 6 was just the worst ever. by far. yea...the kings could have won game 7, but you can't overlook how devastated you are after a loss like that. its hard enough to beat shaq/kobe....having to fight the refs at the same time is a little much.
i have no doubt the nba had a hand in that series....nets vs kings in the finals could have set the game back 5 years in popularity.

Re: Jackson Agrees with Cuban Criticizes 2006 Finals Officiating
if you guys are referring to the lakers-pacers series, shaq took that many free throws because that was a part of indiana's game plan.

every kobe/lakers thread you come in with the same shit. :oldlol:
'im not a fan of either team, in fact i probably like the opposing team more than the lakers...'
:oldlol:
ive never understood this. why hide your bias? you look like a retard doing it, though im sure you wouldnt have any problem doing that even if you did name what team you go for. not hard to guess since you come in defending kobe every thread and go into every lebron thread bashing him. :oldlol:
