Sad but true
You are right. He only makes 100% of his open three's. Completely useless. I wouldn't want him.
#Hopethatworks
this has gone better than i possibly could have dreamed. he has sunk his chances of getting a big contract this summer. excellent. now the knicks get to keep him. i don't think the problem is novak, rather, it's the fact that the knicks as a whole have had poor ball movement and inconsistent pick and roll play.
also, these type of shooters are bad match-ups against miami because of their athleticism on the wing. peja went from murdering the lakers to being more or less useless against the heat.
What about Novak > Korver? :lol

You're a poorly educated, low class, illiterate troll who no one likes on this board.

well everyone's acknowledged he's one of the most one-dimensional players in the league, but his one dimension is just
anyhow, I think its more to do w/ the Knicks lack of ball movement and constant focus on iso...
to sum it up: WE NEED A PG!!!
What about Novak > Korver? :lol
3 pt shooting yes
YEah pretty much all he can do is shoot three. But that was pretty obvious the whole season though. And I saw a lot of Knicks games so I know for certain that's all he can do open threes.
What about Novak > Korver? :lol
everyone in that thread acknowledged korver is a better passer and better at moving without the ball, but novak is definitely a better three point shooter than korver.

are you dumb or retarded? your pick.
Its very obvious to any one intelligent that its the coach's fault here that novak is standing in the corner and not getting open.
Because the coach doesn't call any plays for him (screens) at all.
Thibs actually runs play to get Korver open.
Same with Rivers who runs screen play to get Allen open.
Novak is useless because woodson is content on him being useless.

Ah okay. That thread went on for a while, I only caught the beginning.

It's a special language we geekazoids share. You would never understand.
same with JR and Davis
Is davis going to have to retire? dislocated patella is serious stuff, and he was washed up anyway.
honestly, i think handing out j.r. significant money is a foolish decision. he's just not that great. at this point he might opt in to his knicks' contract because i'm not sure other teams will think it worth their money to give him bigger deals. i really don't like him, though. maybe i would if the knicks had a coach who didn't tolerate his isolation plays and forced him to stick to pick and roll.
if there was a way for us to snag OJ Mayo...
JR's a good guy, and he plays hard all the time but the dude is too much of a chuck, and is too dumb...
unfortunately we have no alternatives...

JR Smith will not pick up his option, and Knicks have no way to pay him anyway. So he probably won't be here. i appreciate his talent, but he can be frustrating to watch sometimes.
JR Smith is such a chucker, his poor shot selection just helps the Heat.
I can live with JR as long as he plays defense. The dumb fouls make me want to rip my hair out, but elite teams could always use young, versatile athletic defenders.
And his jumpshot next year can't possibly be worse than what it has been this year. This season just seems like a fluke to me.

is it a given that he won't pick up his contract?
I suppose that he probably will opt out, and he assumed coming into this season that he will opt out, but he might have played himself out of it. he's not a guy worth giving the MLE to at this point in his career, IMO. he just doesn't have the maturity to be a winner. at this point, I think there is a slight chance he's back next year.
The heat are a bad team for Novak to play against. They close out on the perimeter probably quicker than any other team in the league.
Novak is what he is, a 3 point bomber and not a lot else. I'm still happy to have him on the team.

Novak can't run, if he tried to run through screens his defender would get to where he wanted to go first despite the screens.
Novak is being exposed a bit, which is good, since it gives a chance of Knicks keep him.
Mike Bibby gets to be open a lot, why? Heat don't care about him, unlike Novak that is getting a lot of attention from the Heat.

Otis Smith calls your bluff
:coleman:
I think Knicks can offer Novak around $1.4 million next year. So I would just offer Novak a 5 year deal, with that starting salary and max raises. If Novak wants stability, he'll be almost guarantted to be here for 5 years. Knicks would do that give Novak that offer in a heartbeat..............If he becomes useless in year 2, who cares?

dont be mad brah yall nikkas won da game doe:lol
hopefully ur moms is alright:no:
JR Smith has an obligation to leave...an obligation to me.
The Knicks have options but maybe too many...
When team's can play Novak that tight and bring that much pressure on him you kind of have to figure it's because Melo was averaging 31% shooting the first 3 games.
Novak needs Lin to get good looks
they need a penetrating player to give novak open looks.
if lin somehow comes back........
Novak is exceedingly limited, but his advantage over JR is that he isn't an active detriment.
The Heat might as well get JR a jersey.
peja looked even worse against the heat last year.
it's on the coach to get him looks or sit his ass.

ur mom?:basketball
:durantunimpressed:
the Spurs had a choice of keeping either Matt Bonner or Steve Novak during the offseason. They are both the same type of player. thankfully Bonner learned how to pump fake-side step-dribble-take 3 steps-shoot the jumper this year. :lol

Can you change your name to Metta World Durant? Because youre up there with MWP's ability to make yourself look absolutely worse everytime you utter a word.

Agreed. I have been very disappointed in his play.
No wonder he has such a high 3pt shooting %. A lot of guys would shoot 47% if they only shot the ball when they were--------------------------THIS WIDE OPEN!
He has been shockingly bad this series. No heart.
Two weeks ago he was your god..lol dum shyt ny fans

too bad he can't get open
I dont know much about his game but a good 3 point shooter has a place in any team. Just look at Peja last season. The dude had a great prime but when he was in mavericks he was way past that. The only thing that made him an asset was his shooting. In everything else he was relatively below average, especially on defense. Which was the reason why he barely played in the finals. But there is no question about how important he was during that playoff run.
