FACT CHECK: EUROLEAGUE courts are SMALLER than NCAA and WNBA courts?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basketball_court
Looked it up on Wikipedia so to be safe I'm wondering if Euroleague can clear this issue up and deny this to save face for his beloved league... According to Wiki it says like the court size is smaller than American NCAA courts and barely larger than an American High School court (and actually it's Narrower than a High School court :wtf:).
IS THIS TRUE?
If we aren't supposed to believe that Euroleague is a league for tweener talents who weren't athletic or talented enough to play on full size American NBA courts than why the heck do they play on a tweener sized court :confusedshrug: :facepalm
If these facts are wrong please feel free to correct them. If these facts are true than I'm seriously starting to doubt the validity of Euroleague "talent" :facepalm
-
Re: FACT CHECK: EUROLEAGUE courts are SMALLER than NCAA and WNBA courts?
They are talented... not as talented as the NBA of course but they can still ball. If its that easy then why don't you go over there and make some money?
-
Re: FACT CHECK: EUROLEAGUE courts are SMALLER than NCAA and WNBA courts?
No, it is not true. Euroleague courts are now actually the same exact size as NBA courts.
What is true, is that the NBA ball is lighter and smaller than the Euroleague ball.
Also, that the Euroleague uses double rims, while the NBA does not.
Euroleague 3 point line is closer.
Euroleague allows hand checking and a true zone. No defensive 3 seconds in Euroleague.
Games in Euroleague are 40 minutes.
You get 3 steps in NBA, but just 2 in Euroleague.
Other than that, the rules are pretty much the same now.

Did they change the court size of Euroleague to full blown NBA size before, or after Anthony Parker made his impact on the league? Serious question.

That's a double rim.
Eurloleague courts are the same size as NBA now. 3pt lines still short though.

Re: FACT CHECK: EUROLEAGUE courts are SMALLER than NCAA and WNBA courts?
The NBA gets three steps, and the Euros get two? I think you have that backwards (although some might argue that NBA stars get 4 or more.)

Whats the difference between double rim and single rim?

lol it's funny how many people posted pix of puns.
Double rims suck. They bounce way too high off a miss.
Edit: @ Nash, they are way more firm if you ask me.

They're probably stronger..
But no one can dunk in the euroleague anyway:lol Unless some nba scrub gets bored and goes over to play there..
-
Re: FACT CHECK: EUROLEAGUE courts are SMALLER than NCAA and WNBA courts?
I don't even know exactly what "EuroLeague" is.
Who gives a F?
Is that the league Deron Will played in?
Or Josh Childress?
Or Steph Marbury?
There's too many damn leagues over there. All I know is the NBA has all of the world's best players except for 2 or 3 players on a Josh Childress level or older star has- beens like Stephon Marbury.

more bounce to it...so on a single rim when you get those lucky bounces, it sless likely to happen on a double rim because the ball is bouncing a little harder...I've played on both...and believe me, playing on a double rim isnt good for self esteem

and sometimes more. Travelling is rampant in the NBA ever since Stern wanted to be more entertaining in late 80's or so.

Of course, breakaway double rims are not to be confused with the non-breakaway double rims seen on most playgrounds these days. The non-breakaways are the ones that will not welcome many favorable bounces. The ones in Euroleague still appear to provide some solid cushion.
When players see double rims in the USA (again, out on concrete) they associate horrible bounces with them because instead of containing a spring, the entire structure is bolted into the backboard. And, unlike the single non-breakaway rims of the previous generation, they cannot be bent by force and broken in or loosened up.

Basically, they make it harder to score.

Yeah. The ones Euroleague uses are softer than the typical playground ones. They still make it a bit harder to score though. I remember seeing some study test they did, and it lowered shooting percentages by like 4 percentage points. It's not as bad as the ones at the playground though.

Re: FACT CHECK: EUROLEAGUE courts are SMALLER than NCAA and WNBA courts?
Playing on double rims at a playground, then going to an indoor court and playing a game is a blessing.
You become such a better shooter through playing on double rims. Have to really work on the height of your shot. More arc, etc.

It's true. The international ball is slicker, it is a bit bigger, and weighs a bit more than the NBA ball.
Why do you think all NBA players went so nuts a few years ago when Stern switched to the international ball?

Brilliant conclussion... are you trolling yourself?
Even if true, different court sizes demands different skills and that's it. Playing in a smaller court your passing, dribbling and movements with/without the ball will have to be more accurate due to defenders being closer. All of those are great skills to play basketball. If you only want to see athletism why don't you watch the sport that's called like that... athletism.
-
Re: FACT CHECK: EUROLEAGUE courts are SMALLER than NCAA and WNBA courts?
Trolling aside, it's funny how people still can't accept such consensual truths as the fact that the Euroleague (which shouldn't be confused with "any random league in Europe") is a very good professional basketball league (in fact the second best after the NBA) or that genius transcends eras.
I understand Kobe/LeBron debates, because there is something to argue about... but virtually anyone who actually knows the game, be it analysts, GMs, players, coaches, scouts, GMS, commentators or relatively unbiased fans would agree with those simple concepts.

Re: FACT CHECK: EUROLEAGUE courts are SMALLER than NCAA and WNBA courts?
Double rims most influential difference is in FTs in my opinion. NBA players who are average FT shooters e.g. LeBron use the front of the rim to bounce the ball in and make free throws. But if you do it on a double rim the ball will just bounce off.
