How awkward is it that Lin doesn't finish close games?
They gave him a lot of money but they won't even give him a chance to prove himself in the biggest moments. I can't think of any notable FA signing being treated this way not even halfway through a season.
It's almost like they signed him for publicity not basketball. I know Lin got his money but this must be humiliating :(

Re: How awkward is it that Lin doesn't finish close games?
He hit a three, found Asik for an easy bucket, got a steal and a rebound all in about 2 minutes and was benched never to be seen again. I feel for McHale but that was just straight up bad coaching

Re: How awkward is it that Lin doesn't finish close games?
Lin and Asik didnt play at all in the 4th quarter

Re: How awkward is it that Lin doesn't finish close games?
Well, I guess Jeremy Lin is going to be the most clutch player in the NBA now, and will have the ball on every important possession. Rockets fans everywhere rejoice.
-
Re: How awkward is it that Lin doesn't finish close games?
I am NOT a Lin fan, i am unbiased toward both players, but...
Harden played like shit in the 4th quarter, idc what his numbers say.
Lin played well in LIMITED minutes.
Lin and Douglas played VERY well together when Lin was the sg.
The Rockets lost a 10 point lead with like 3 mins left, with Lin in the game, the Rockets would have held on.
McHale is a dumbass, yeah, i understand the dude lost his daughter, but he doesnt have to take that out on the asian.
Get Sampson running the team, Harden didnt iso as much in his offense!
McHale clearly likes sucking Harden's dick
Lin is getting ripped

Re: How awkward is it that Lin doesn't finish close games?
Basically he is liability late in games.i knew it was over for him when he airballed that three againt miami. Missing the shot thats fine but airballing it? Damn!!!!!!!!!
Its time for u lintards to face the facts. Linsanity was all hype. I hated dat linsanity crap anyway cuz it copied vinsanity. The media couldnt even be original. Blame the media for building him up to fail and soon the media should crucify him but i know they not because lin is the tebow of basketball so he get a pass no matter what.
The thing thats bad about lin is that he does nothing great. He does alot of things good but theres nothing that sets him apart.

the biggest weakness for him is that he cannot shoot, his jumpshot is so broken he might have the worst shooting form in the league for a guard.
he was so successful last year becuase team didnt know this and allowed him to drive which is what he is good at. now teams just backoff and dare him to shoot and he struggles.

I have seen Kobe airball shots late in games. It happens

Maybe so but the Rockets bought into the hype enough to give him 30 mil

I actually agree with this. I've just never seen a team sign a FA for significant dollars and have him on such a short leash. Why let Dragic and Lowry go for Lin if you're going to play Douglas (who played behind Lin in NY) over him?
Note: I think Douglas is a better player than Lin but NBA politics has always given players priority by contract status. Especially when it's a new contract!

Re: How awkward is it that Lin doesn't finish close games?
the lineup in Houston for the last 4 - 5 minutes was :facepalm, harden couldn't do anything no one was making shots and people like OJ mayo and collison was just driving inside at will. I know Asik may be an liability at offense sometimes but when you have like a decent lead with less than 6 minutes to go in the 4th you want defense over offense... And i also wonder what it would've been like if Lin had drove to the basket inside of Harden

Yup, read my post in this thread, i agree.
Harden sucked dick

Re: How awkward is it that Lin doesn't finish close games?
Lin's a system PG, he doesn't mesh well with iso star players. He defers to them too much, which makes him useless on the floor. He needs the ball in his hand.
-
Re: How awkward is it that Lin doesn't finish close games?
I didn't catch the game, but if McHale isn't playing Lin and Asik in the 4th, and Harden is stinking it up in the clutch, it really dosn't say much for Morey's much-hyped signings over the summer.

More like it says a lot about the coaching job actually. Harden playing 45 mins on a bum ankle today almost says it all. No good reason to play Delfino, Patterson, and Aldrich for extended minutes today unless it's to shop the players. Much respect for McHale's legacy as a player, but as a coach, frankly he blows.

True, I never thought that McHale was a good coach. He always seems to be getting in squabbles with players, just like George Karl. His disagreements with Lowry really cost Houston.
However, this player rotation makes me wonder what's happening in terms of the coach and the front office. When highly-publicized acquisitions don't play, it raises the possibility that lots of negative stuff is happening behind the scenes.

Imo, McHale's major coaching issues are awareness related, having certain players play long minutes and the cluelessness and inflexibility in rotations. On the other hand, I think the Lowry dispute had a lot to do with Lowry's own preference to voice displeasure. Supposedly players look to him as a close member of the family so I can't comment on player relations.
Asik has been a solid acquisition however. He hasn't been playing great the past few games, and he can't seem to contain D Howard, but he has a broken nose and I'm sure that makes him tentative.

Thats it in a nutshell they signed him to make them $$$, the guys a back up PG and thats where he should be playing.

He is just not good enough. When Toney Douglas is outplaying you, you know you suck.
-
Re: How awkward is it that Lin doesn't finish close games?
Lin's just not that good...
He's not starting material, Douglas isn't either but at least Douglas tries to get involved on offense. Lin is just hiding in the corner..

Re: How awkward is it that Lin doesn't finish close games?
It happened again tonight even though he was playing pretty well. Pretty despicable way to treat a FA you just signed.

Bad coach. Trade Lin to the Lakers so he can learn from Nash. Pnr with D12 be nice like what it was like with Chandler. :lol

Re: How awkward is it that Lin doesn't finish close games?
I think it's safe to say that he's not a distributing PG. He's a scoring PG who plays best when he's the leading scorer; with a bunch role players.
He had his best game as a Rocket when Harden was out. He had his best games in New York when Melo and/or Amare was injured.
The problem is, no team would ever build around him. So his best bet would be becoming a 6th Man and run the second unit.

He does a fine job at distributing from the games that I've watched. He'd also have more assist if Asik would stuff it.

Can you please stop proposing trades in which we get butchered? Thanks.

Re: How awkward is it that Lin doesn't finish close games?
The coaching staff has absolutely no faith in Lin at all. It is so blatantly obvious. Sampson is the chief culprit.
Not even a monster game against the spurs: 38 pts, 7 assists, 4-5 3's, and 12/12 from the line is enough to sway them. Lin destroyed the spurs' defense singlehandedly. And it's no surprise that Asik had a career high in points, or that TD scored effortlessly, either.
When Harden's on the floor, the ball just stops. He's just as bad for an offense as Carmelo, if not worse. All of the other players just stand around and watch. They're afraid to shoot, lest they piss off the coaching staff, especially sampson, who has poisoned mchale's weak mind.
I suspect this situation is going to get very ugly over the next few months.

Your completely right trade Harden away or bench him like the Knicks should have done to Melo and the Warriors should have done to Curry, don't NBA teams learn that Lin is the GOAT?
If Lin was a starter the Rockets would be 22-0 not battling at 500., what is the coaching staff thinking seriously? You have a potential All Star starter and sure shot Hall of Famer on the bench in the 4th come on. (yes this was a troll)

These guys are idiots, seriously.
The Lin fans must be the most stupid fans ever, they whine all the time. I've been a Rocket fan for years and these delusional Lin fans even called me out for being a fake Rocket fan because I wasn't a huge fan of Lin.
When Harden killed teams in the beginning of the season they called Harden a ball-hog, when Lin didn't get much playing time they called both McHale and Sampson racists, when Lin doesn't put up many assists they blame Asik..
You got to understand one thing with these annoying Lin-fans, it's never Lin's fault and if something doesn't go very well for Lin it's either Harden's fault, the racist coaches fault or Asik's fault that he can't finish...

It's not racist at all tho that Lin is pretty much getting voted into the All-star game strictly based on his stunning play this year in which hes torching every other PG tho and not which race he is.

Re: How awkward is it that Lin doesn't finish close games?
Lin is such an obvious sixth man it's amazing. His energy and court vision are great, and he's at his best when he's taking you by surprise.
And, if you've got injuries, or your offense isn't going, you can put him in and jump-start the thing. Just give him the ball.
There is nothing about the guy to suggest a starter. To start him is to set him up to fail.
That said, he is *awesome* for what he is. His head is always up. Very good court vision, very clever scorer. You never really know what he's gonna hit you with. Plays defense really hard, can get a team going on either end.
He could be your Steve Nash, but that's not ideal. Not if you're thinking championship.
