Is this regular season and playoffs combined ?
Either way, it was inevitable if he kept playing longer too.

Career missed FG's. He surpassed Hondo last night.
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
Its true we'll make a better day
Just you and me.
9erempire: how great is our gawd?
When did he do this? I assume there would have been a countdown, at least on ish.
well there ya go......
breaking records left and right

Hmmm... I thought he was close. Oh well, that is downside of longevity, but given Kobe is a volume scorer it was going to happen.
Karl Malone for example is second all-time in scoring but also first in turnovers all-time. I am pretty sure it well get looked over, but it is there now.

thats why the mailman didn't win....it will get looked over cuz he is looked over....
By the time Kobe retires his "missed shots" record will be more untouchable than Wilt's 50ppg/100 point records

Not surprising.
He is a shooting guard playing in his 17th season who is always near the top in field goal attempts.

Well, that and Malone's play dropping in the playoffs altogether.
if you think he wont have a chance to make history again in the playoffs seeing as his lakers are out of the race now... think again
Also, keep in mind that Kobe already holds the “record” for most missed FGA in NBA playoff history, having passed Jordan during the 2011 postseason. The list here contains all the same names as above except Elvin Hayes.
FROM THE ELIAS SPORTS BUREAU (FG Pct, eFG pct from Basketball Reference):
Most FG Missed
NBA Postseason History
FG Pct eFG Pct
Kobe Bryant 2,485 44.8 48.0
Michael Jordan 2,309 48.7 50.3
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar 2,066 53.3 53.3
Karl Malone 2,025 46.3 46.3
John Havlicek 1,878 43.6 43.6

And Hondo gots dem 8 RINGS!!!
One of the coolest things about Bryant doubles as his biggest problem: He does what he wants to do and doesn't let the negative opinions of others effect that. I'm incapable of being a fan of a Laker player but I respect a man that has achieved that level of freedom. And unless you're talking about MJ, Magic or one of the old school Celtics I bet any player would happily accept this record if it came along with 5 rings. I'm not saying he's the prime reason they won all those Championships but they don't get any without it. Bottom line, he's got away with all of that chucking because he's worth it.
lmao @ the hater gathering inside this thread  , we should lock it w/them inside and set it on fire!

You miss 100% of the shots you don't take.
The legendary chucker.

Prolly trying to teach teammates something. Always a blessing in disguise.

You also miss 100% of the shots you miss.
Only a true legend could hold a record such as this. Kind of like Brett Favre's interception record.

actually, it's more like tracking all the girls that you asked out that told you "no" right to your face. It's not a stat of not having the cajones to ask, it's stat of making the attempt but straight up failing.

are you saying it's good to keep track of...... or that kobe is a failure for bricking that amount of shots??? :lol

Kobe has failed to make more baskets than any NBA player in history - it's a blemish to his offensive abilities but it's also a testimate to his longevity - it's kind of a moot record IMO, nothing to be proud of at all, but then again he shouldn't be too ashamed either cause you have to have pretty elite longevity to get such a record
