Disgusting anonymous letter to the mother of an autistic kid
This made the news here in Canada. I know its not the only person that probably feels that way but i just cant believe how heartless some people can be. :banghead:
I hope she will get what she deserves. Im sure its already hard enough for the mother to have to take care and deal with the needs of her child.

anonymity is becoming more and more disgusting every day. judging from everything you read on the internet lately, youd think anonymity and respect were mutually exclusive
I hope she will get what she deserves
So this isn't some fake? Damn. I've got mild autism myself, and it pretty much sucks. So I can imagine how hard it must be for the parents if you've got a child with the full blown version. The truth is, it's perfectly acceptable to put your f*cking dog into human clothes and carry it around like it's your baby, but a disabled child that doesn't give other people a warm fuzzy feeling because it's not all "cute" and sh*t, well forget about it.
And even though I should feel kinda offended by this letter maybe, I can even understand why the woman feels that way. For most of human history, we were living in small tribes, even a few hundred years ago people knew basically their home village and a few miles around it. That's all there was. So it makes sense if people felt hostile towards others that won't contribute to survival and reproduction. So in some sense, using "modern" standards, the letter is just sad. But on the other hand, it's not something unusual. It's human history in a nutshell.

Re: Disgusting anonymous letter to the mother of an autistic kid
I have a feeling some immature kids wrote this. I have a hard time thinking that a mature grown up was actually insensitive enough and took this much of her time to actually do this.

Re: Disgusting anonymous letter to the mother of an autistic kid
What does the lady expect the mother to do? Kill him when he was born? That is some disgusting letter she wrote in the computer.

Never doubt the hideous underbelly of society man. Adults are foul. Age doesn't equal ANY type of compassion or maturity.

There is plenty of worse things going on in this world. Mothers killing their babies or abandoning them in trash cans, killing people over shoes or out of boredom, etc.
Being grown doesnt mean you are mature enough or accepting of differences

Look, I'm not being insensitive, but these are things we think about in our head without saying it outloud. Imagine frankenstein coming outside yelling in a Yette voice and there's kids outside trying to play but their afraid? I'm not saying put this mentally handicapped kid to sleep, I'm just saying the parent of that kid needs to isolate him/her. Let it play in the backyard and watch TV or go to the park.

Why because it makes you unconfortable to be around people with handicaps? Because they "scare" you? Send them to the park so they're somebody else's problem?
This is a you problem Dionysus, strictly a you problem.

This isn't just a ME problem, It's a problem for children trying to play outside. Mentally I'll kids are like old drunks or Schizophrenia patients. Imagine a old drunk standing outside while your're cooking out with family and friends and he's yelling explicitives at the top of his lungs acting like an ape? Everyone will be looking at him, no one would want to approach him or hang out with him, and everyone would talk about him being crazy within their group.
He'll be that guy that 2 people walk by and 1 of them whispers "don't walk to close, that guys a nut job". THIS is how normal children would look at a mentally ill kid. I'am not condemning the mentally impaired kid, I'm just merely stating truth as it pertain's to society.

Re: Disgusting anonymous letter to the mother of an autistic kid
Autism is over diagnosed and a product of an overbearing liberal mindset when it comes to parents governing their children's lives. To boot, there are others (ADD, ADHD) which are equally overblown and they provide wonderful profits for pharmaceutical companies to pump kids full of drugs so they can breeze through school in a zombified haze.
Morons like Jenny McCarthy who blame Autism on flu shots and the like, influencing people to turn away from them. Then they claim that their children are "cured". Modern psychiatry is one big joke. Our modern neurotic culture obsessed with self worth will only make this problem worse in the coming years.
This is a blatant troll letter, nothing more. Is there a legitimate gripe if a parent is allowing their child, not matter what problems they have, to disrupt the neighbourhood? Yes. Bury your self-righteousness and political correctness for once, parents need to learn to control their children regardless of what conditions they have.

Re: Disgusting anonymous letter to the mother of an autistic kid
Why do you think the school systems give these kind of kids special classes? Because they aren't normal.
Gays have their own bars.
Animals have a zoo.
Special need kids should have their own play ward.

Gays have their own bars, but that doesn't mean they can't/won't/shouldn't go to a straight bar.
Animals have a zoo, but A) They don't have a choice to be there and B) that doesn't mean they can't/won't/shouldn't live in the wild.
So why can't special needs children go to a park with other children?

Gays shouldn't go to straight bars, and when they do, they are unwanted there.
An animal in the zoo or in the wild is all the same, as long as their seperated from cats and dogs and normal society.
Would you take a Lion from the zoo or even the Jungle to a neighborhood dog park? No.
Again, if mentally ill kids were normal they wouldn't have classes in school dedicated to them.
-
Re: Disgusting anonymous letter to the mother of an autistic kid
The lack of empathy and respect from some people is astounding. I would go door to door and smoke out the person who wrote that letter. The person probably thinks she shield herself through anonymity but it is easy to identifier the ignorant pricks who live in your neighborhood.

I wouldnt take a lion from the jungle or zoo to the neighborhood park because its a danger to everyone there. Your analogy doesnt make any sense
They also have private classes because they need more attention from the teachers and dont learn at the same pace as ''regular'' students.

Re: Disgusting anonymous letter to the mother of an autistic kid

Maybe by homophobes. You wouldn't even know if a gay person was at a bar unless he was really flamboyant and up front about it. If a gay guy is at a bar, drinking with some friends, who are you to say he's not allowed?
An animal in the zoo or in the wild is all the same, as long as their seperated from cats and dogs and normal society.

What a terrible comparison. Obviously I wouldn't. Because that's extremely dangerous. What about an autistic child is dangerous? Absolutely nothing.
Again, if mentally ill kids were normal they wouldn't have classes in school dedicated to them.
So what's wrong with not being normal? "Normal" people like you are annoyed? Here's some advice: Grow up and realize that the world doesn't revolve around you.
I sincerely hope (that if you ever do manage somehow to convince a woman to have sex with you) that you have an autistic child. See how you feel about isolating him/her then.

Re: Disgusting anonymous letter to the mother of an autistic kid
You posters just don't get it. Your're taking those comparisons I made too literal instead of focusing on the similar points at hand. Mentally ill kids are a danger to our normal kids ability to freely have fun. Also there's lots of mentally ill children who are also not only a harm too themselves but others.
If mentally retarded kids should be treated equal then wouldn't they be in the same classes with the normal kids? Well they're not, because they are not normal and should only be around their own.

The problem is not that your posts are offending anyone...they just don't make any sense at all. Mental illness and mental retardation are not the same thing, you can't interchange them. You simply have no clue at all what you're talking about.
For example, mental disorders as defined by the American Psychiatric Association include hundreds of different conditions, such as various depressive forms, autism, schizophrenia, OCD, anxiety disorders and so on. By putting "mentally ill kids" into one big category, claiming they are a "danger to normal kids", you just show a lack of any knowledge of the topic whatsoever. I'm "mentally ill" by the way, diagnosed with a high functioning form of autism. Went to a "normal" school, will start with university this fall.
Now you're essentially putting me into a category where I'm a "danger" to normal people and should be isolated. And it's not that I'm offended, not at all. It's just shocking that, well, you have a brain...kind of. And you really believe the stuff you write make any sense? That's what annoys me, people like you have the right to vote...
Then you go on and start to talk about "mentally retarded" kids. Guess what, not all kids being diagnosed with a mental disorder are also suffering from retardation. Yet, you mix up everything into a big bunch of incoherent nonsense.
So yeah, I really think you posts are harmless and shouldn't offend anybody. But they simply don't make any sense at all. I mean if some mentally retarded kid would've written this, we could say "Yeah, he's got brain damage, put him away". But what is your excuse?

everyone should have some empathy for people with problems like this .. but if the kid is walking around yelling profanities around the neighborhood then that needs to be stopped .. the first part of her letter was ok(minus the namecalling and such) .. she just took it to some other place

Yes, because parks need to be quiet and calm places. Because non special needs kids are calm and quiet in the park.
Are you actually aware that children aren't quiet nor calm?

It's a difference between children playing, and one kid yelling out curse words spinning in a circle banging his head on a park bench.
And to the bloke Dr dre, I realized that a posted a typo just now with the use of the word "retarded". I was more discussing kids that are like the one in the letter posted in this thread. And I am informed.

:lol
To summarize the most important parts of this paragraph...
Old Drunks
Schizophrenia patients
Mentally ill kids
Yelling out expletives
Acting like an ape
Good job! You're quite informed for sure.
Oh, and btw...the only thing the woman was complaining about in the letter was some sound she doesn't like because it's not "normal" and her kids are afraid of it. Well big deal, dogs scared the sh*t out of me when I was a kid. So what? I mean if the mentioned kid was outside beating up other children or raping the neighbor's dog or stuff, the yeah, he shouldn't be allowed to go outside. But this is not mentioned in the letter. So what exactly are you talking about? She wasn't even implying the kid is louder than other sounds in the neighborhood or does it all the time. She's simply not used to it and wants it to stop, without any good arguments at all.
Look, if you want to play devil's advocate, then do it right. Write some semi decent stuff about lack of empathy in autistic persons, throw in some stuff about how there's money spent on the disabled that could be used otherwise. This way, there's at least something to talk about and you'd give us some reason to believe that you aren't actually brain damaged yourself. I mean if you're in to have fun looking at outraged responses and stuff I'd at least understand why you're writing that way. But if you seriously believe your posts make sense, I don't know...
