Current Durant or 03 T-Mac? Who is the better player?
T-Mac.
Durant is overrated.
Ill respectfully go with Kevin Durant.
Pre back injury T-Mac for me please. KD's padded production with soft foul calls is annoying.
mcgrady
T-Mac
Good question.
Tmac for that one year was better than Durant has ever been. However, Durant's other seasons have been much better.

I don't even believe that.
T-Mac = 32/6.5/5.5 on 46%
Durant = 28/8/3.5 on 51% or 30/7.6/3 on 48%
Was he really better?

T-Mac didn't play with a Westbrook distracting defenses with elite penetration and finishing abilities. Mac also played in a more difficult defensive era, where touch calls didn't get him on the line for a gifted 4 - 8 ppg on free throws, yet still averaged 4 more ppg. That's kind of significant difference. So yes, it is more impressive when Darrell Armstrong is your second best player as opposed to Russell Westbrook.

Plus, Tmac has always taken care of the ball very well.
He only had 2.6 TO/gm which is ridiculous considering how often he had the ball.

mcgrady averaged 8 free throws per game in his orlando prime (01-04). durant has averaged 8.7 in okc. that doesn't account for an extra 4-8 ppg
durant has, however, averaged just as many points (28) while taking 3.5 fewer fgs per game
personally, on an aesthetic level, i like kd's game way more. t-mac always seemed like a borderline chucker.....not iverson level, but he definitely had those tendencies. playing on shitty teams might have brought that out in him, i suppose

Watching them tells the difference in context of the foul calls. Watch the games, don't just compare the numbers. McGrady was more prone to create off the dribble (seeing as how his handle is way better) and attack the rim than Durant.
KD will literally get soft, rip through foul calls where he initiates the contact in the friggin TRIPLE THREAT position.
It isn't just a comparison of the amount of free throws they get, it's the type of calls they get. You breathe on KD and his small, feminine shoulder frame amplifies any kind of contact making it seem worse.
T-Mac, he played right before hand-checking was completely removed in 2004.
Give me T-Mac
I'll go with T-Mac. What were Durant's numbers when Westbrook was out last year? Not sure if that helps or hurts Durant's case.
I dislike watching Durant and the type of calls he gets, but to me, hes simply a better and more productive player.
If we're going to look at their main strengths, its scoring, and Durant does it better.
Both are average defenders, while T-Mac was slightly better early on in his career, he simply stopped trying in Orlando due to the offensive load.
Durant is the better rebounder, and T-Mac the better playmaker/creator. Once again, Durant the better scorer and bigger mismatch.
KD is probably the better player.
This is damn tough... wont even get into it, the only reason i went with KD is because of my acquired taste for pure shooting.
T-Mac
future hall of famer

And Durant isn't? :confusedshrug:
Coming from a huge fan of both players, i'd say that Durant is the better all-around player. It's close tho. The only edge, imo, that T-Mac has over Durant, and probably most perimeter players aside from LeBron, is his playmaking ability.

Hrmm, Tmac was an excellent shooter. He took 6 3's per game during the 03' season which is more than KD has ever taken. He also hit on 39% of them.

In the playoffs you mean? Something like 32-10-6 on 46% FG and 58% TS in the games without Westbrook.
T-Mac
Dat wet jump shot
Dat wet fade away
The swag :pimp:

Crazy, T-Mac had everything going on for him :facepalm
Durant.
He hasn't even hit his prime yet.

It's pretty standard that a Lakers fan would say something so ignorant.
McGrady is in serious contention for most aesthetically pleasing game of all time.
Durant, despite his jumper being absolutely beautiful, is not.
McGrady was so damn smooth that it tricked you into thinking that he was only giving about half effort MOST of the time.
As for the topic at hand, give me McGrady. It's not by a whole lot but enough to make a choice. Both great players.
McGrady was always just on straight up bad teams with mediocre supporting casts AT BEST during his prime in Orlando.
Durant. Dude had a 28 ppg, 50/40/90 season... Pretty close to those numbers again.
But the guy who said Durant has a more aesthetically pleasing game than McGrady needs to be taken out in the back and shot. Sure it's an opinion. So is that Adolf Hitler would have made a great United States President. Doesn't mean it's not a ****ing stupid opinion. Both are equally moronic. Yep.
because a guy shooting 41.7% from the field is soooo fun to watch
there's a reason the nba had it's lowest tv ratings numbers since the 70's during t-macs 'reign'

03 T Mac put 32.7 on 45% FG.

2003 McGrady shot .457 from the field...
And you going to tell me Iverson wasn't fun to watch? Career .425 shooter. .420 shooter in his MVP season.

Knowing he's a Lakers fan, it had to be boring for him to watch Kobe play, Kobe never had an above 47% FG season

Would rep again but can't, lol.
03 T Mac put 32.7 on 45% FG.
he had three years where he played great ball. all-star level, top 5 in the league type stuff. but that's it. and he did it for some very mediocre teams. he also shot 41.7% from the floor in 04, while jacking up 7.7 three's per game. even his prime was mixed
that whole early 2000s era of guys trying to be jordan was ugly basketball, at least to me. kobe included. there were some great highlights, but vince, t-mac, stackhouse for that one year....they never went anywhere. it was all fluff. kobe would be in the same boat if he didn't have shaq carrying his ass

iverson was a classic underdog, he was scrappy and had a ton of heart, which made his atrocious shot selection something you could ignore
T-Mac all day everyday.
He's only good cause he gets da calls doe

This level of double standard is truly something to behold.

Somebody needs to make one of these that is empty except the free throw line being flooded.
This level of double standard is truly something to behold.
so fcking what? the argument shifted to watchability, not "who's better." at that point it's all subjective
