Derrick Rose out for the season
:facepalm
Earlier this morning, Rose underwent successful surgery to repair his previously torn medial meniscus in his right knee. The surgery was performed at Rush University Medical Center by Chicago Bulls head team physician Dr. Brian Cole and team physician Dr. Chuck Bush Joseph.
Rose is out for the remainder of the season. He suffered his injury in the third quarter of Chicago’s loss at Portland on Friday night.

[QUOTE]Derrick Rose's season is over. The former MVP who missed all of last season is done for 2013-14 after surgery to repair a torn medial meniscus.

So Pacers vs Heat, best of 21 series?

Re: Derrick Rose out for the season
I think we've seen the best of Rose, which is a shame considering he was so young. At least the organization made it clear from the start.

Re: Derrick Rose out for the season
My god that sucks... now he'll never be able to recover mentally, feel really bad for him

[QUOTE]LATEST NEWS
RECENT NEWS
Derrick Rose will miss the rest of the 2013-14 season after having his torn medial meniscus repaired on Monday.
Rose's decision to repair the meniscus, rather than remove it, should help prolong his career. Dwyane Wade had his meniscus removed, for instance, and he said earlier this month, "My knee problems and the things I've dealt with started from that. That was [11] years ago and technology was different and the way you approach things was different." For the duration of this season Chicago will ask Kirk Hinrich to play heavy minutes at PG, making him a likely source of fantasy value, with Marquis Teague serving as his primary backup. Re: Derrick Rose out for the season
ESPN says out for season, but 4-6 months. That would mean end of March to end of May. Technically that means he could come back for the playoffs. Obviously, given his track record, most would assume he'd just take the season off, but I don't know. Maybe not coming back last year, and taking almost a year and a half off and STILL getting hurt will make him think that taking that extra time off won't make a difference cause he could still get hurt regardless, and he would just be wasting another opportunity at playing basketball and competing for a title. If he shuts it down completely, this would make 3 postseasons in a row and championship opportunities he missed out on.

Re: Derrick Rose out for the season
Officially time to blow the team up. When Rose comes back next time this has to look like a completely new team with a new leader. Rose needs to take a back seat now.

Re: Derrick Rose out for the season
If the Bulls still care about trying to salvage something out of this season, there's always Kyle Lowry. That's assuming that the Raptors smarten up and tank though.

Bulls should smarten up and tank. This team needs to look completely different when Rose comes back.

Even if it means 2 losses, OKC might be better off just giving Westbrook the night off when they play at Portland. That place is cursed.

Re: Derrick Rose out for the season
i think the news sources are assuming that hes out for the season because it was a repair. he still has a small window to come back this season. even if the official word from the front office is that rose is sitting the rest of the season, 4 months from now rose could be ready.
-
Re: Derrick Rose out for the season
Got to feel for Rose, you have to wonder if he'll ever be the same player after all this. We already know he's not a quick healer.
In any case this is a good time to tank, only problem is I don't know that Thibodeau feels the same way.

This is Derrick Rose we're talking about, not Adrian Peterson.

Re: Derrick Rose out for the season
He is done. Miss the whole season then last barely 10 games in the next season.

He was cleared to play back last March and sat out the whole season. He's going to lose his muscle memory in this knee now and probably sit out until 2015/2016.

Re: Derrick Rose out for the season
It's pretty absurd to think he was the 2010-11 MVP and that he will not return before the 2014-15 season. :biggums:
His MVP seems so long ago, and his return also seems so far away

Re: Derrick Rose out for the season
Just like I said, it was a stupidly pathetic move for him to sit out the playoffs last season, assuming he had more in the future to look forward too. In retrospect that may have been the one shot in his entire career to contend for a ring in any meaningful way.
BTW, eerily enough the Onion predicted it!

Re: Derrick Rose out for the season
His skillset, much like the skillset of all pro athletes, is finite, and there is a fast ticking clock. Gotta be frustrating beyond belief to not be able to use his God given gifts.

it's bad for the entire NBA in general when star players go out...

Re: Derrick Rose out for the season
no one is going to miss 14 points a game on terrible percentages
also the way he gets constantly trapped on double teams is sickening
