Why do Laker Fans Hate The Clippers? One Clipper Fans Take

Active hatred for the Clippers from Lakers fans appears to have reached an all-time high this season as the Clippers became widely regarded title contenders while the Lakers recorded the most losses in franchise history.

Why does such a significant portion of Lakers fan base feel so much vindication and ecstasy over the Clippers loss to the Thunder? The explanations by Lakers fans for their passionate vitriol says more about the state of the Laker fan psyche than it does about Clippers fans. Let

In all my life, I've never met a Lakers fan that hated the Clippers.

it's simply something new because the Clippers are the best team in L.A. and even then, I doubt that it's real hate. Simply put.. it's ENVY.

And even then.... Laker fans are such posers that they cheer for Clippers.

Roam through the streets in L.A. and you would've thought you were in Chicago back in the 90s, or Miami lately.

You haven't been paying attention and it's not something new that popped up once the Clippers started winning games...

I'm only a Laker fan when Kobe is playing since he is alpha. However, I think it may have to do with Chris Paul more than anything. Paul is a hypocritical racist choker and his attitude is off putting. If he plays for your team, you love him until the final minutes of games, though.

CF86 and Donald Sterling are why I never liked the Clippers. I also think the team colors, logo, and name are boring. I'm also territorial, get the **** out of my city. CP3 veto was bullshit, but I can get over that seeing as he's not as likeminded to Kobe as I thought. CP3 has no killer instinct. We know Dwight is fragile. We would have been disappointed in a CP3/Dwight duo after Kobe.

If Magic Johnson buys the Clippers, I guess I have no more excuses to not like them. I hope this doesn't happen. It's fun to have a historically bad team to keep your spirits up. Magic don't count, they got to the finals.

Noticed a cpl big lakers fans that don't hate on them really like fplii and duece but most seem to, only since the clipps became relevant

the clippers had mostly sucked ass for such a long time that if you ever had any feelings for them, it was probably just pity.

if there are laker fans who hate the clips, they probably only started watching basketball a couple years ago. there was never a legit rivalry. what rivalry??? for the longest time, clips were playing for ping pong balls in the lottery every season.

It's only been 4 years since their last title, it's not like they are living from championships from the 70's.

As a Laker fan, I don't hate the Clippers and actually wanted them to succeed when I was younger. I wouldn't care if they won a title but never liked the owner.

When some people are dragged down by others in their attempt to reach for the star. Maybe it's common for people to react the ways to those who had been forced to let go, to just fall.

So they understand what down to earth means.

Another thing I want to add: Clippers fans I know have a habit to want to see the Lakers fail. So in a way its Laker fans getting back at them, whether in a trolly or truly hateful way. :lol

I'm a Celtics fan.

Were there another NBA franchise in Boston, chances are I'd hate it.

I honestly have never met a long time Clippers fan. A Chris Paul fan? A Blake Griffin fan? Sure, even my cousin jumped ship to the Clips because CP3 was his favorite player. The last time the Clippers even interested me was when they had Lamar Odom whom I thought would turn out to be a star-caliber player and he was with my Lakers. Imagine CP3, BG, and motivated Odom together. They wouldn't have let the series get away this year.

But I've never really met a Laker fan who really hated the Clippers either. We just always felt sorry for them. We even joked about hoping to someday get drafted by the Clippers because that would be our best shot at making any NBA team (we were 10)

Well the Clippers are the Lakers local derby rivals, what else do you expect from Lakers fans? Just like how the Knicks fans hate the Nets.
