Never trust a person that doesn't drink....
Don't know if you guys have heard this saying......
No offense to those that like to be sober but in the business and corporate world, you are the least to get promoted or trusted if you don't drink alcohol. I've seen it too many times in company parties to know that you will be labelled that dude.
I understand you want to be sober but if you can't even have one drink with a boss or co-worker then there is no telling what your limits may be in the company.
If you don't want to drink then it is best to say you are a recovering alcoholic.

Re: Never trust a person that doesn't drink....
it's somewhat true IMO. Guys bond over getting drunk all the time and have throughout history.
-
Re: Never trust a person that doesn't drink....
Much of adult social interaction revolves around alcohol, whether that amount be an excess of, or "just grabbing a drink." To be completely sober, I think one would have to be extra creative to find their social outlets. I mean, yeah, you can go to a bar and not drink, but it's annoying being sober around people who are buzzed/drunk.

Re: Never trust a person that doesn't drink....
Nobody gives a shit if you drink or not as long as you're social.

I drink. I just don't expect everyone else to need to because I do. Have you watched the Giants lately? Exactly how does one do that without beer?

Getting drunk with coworkers in the corporate scene is actually a HORRIBLE idea.
That has led to many lost jobs...

Yet I've had a few jobs that almost require you to go do so.

Re: Never trust a person that doesn't drink....
Drunk people let opinions fly, and once you let those opinions out to other coworkers you can't take them back.
IMO its much better to be seen as the perfect little hard working angel than it is to be seen as the drinking buddy.

Don't know man. That hard working angel is gonna distance himself from any future promotions in a lot of situations if he can't relax. It's never a good look to drink and get demolished, but a stiff personality doesn't work too good either.

meh, maybe in a smaller office setting...
At large corporations your boss likely doesn't give a shit about bonding with you and getting buddy-buddy, he just wants you to do your job well.
I don't think I have seen a situation where the better worker lost out because he didn't get drunk with someone...

Re: Never trust a person that doesn't drink....
The world isn't like Mad Men anymore...the majority of higher ups at large corporations are generally very sober people...
-
Re: Never trust a person that doesn't drink....
yeah...never drink around coworkers/bosses...
when I was 19, I attended my first work "Christmas Party"....( now they are called Holiday Party)
I prolly had 1,2,3 too many.....
I ended up telling one of my managers that he was B###H....then was kissin up on this married chick...
Just the first of many Holiday party's that ended bad...
- Now I don't drink during work sponsored events.....I only drink when I'm out on Vacation or with friends.....maybe down a few on the weekends.
- But I agree.....never trust a friend or person who never drinks....It means they don't trust themselves and are weak minded.
Bro psychology 101....:confusedshrug:

Oh wow, haven't seen you on here in ages :applause:

Re: Never trust a person that doesn't drink....
I don't trust most people who refuse to drink.
-
Re: Never trust a person that doesn't drink....
If someone doesnt trust you because you dont drink its because deep inside they feel envious and fear you.
-
Re: Never trust a person that doesn't drink....
A person who refuses a single drink is a person who doesn't even trust themselves so I surely won't.
-
Re: Never trust a person that doesn't drink....
So a person looking to be healthier and improve their body, mind and will power is someone not to be trusted? Thats the kind of thing you hear deadbeat drug addict prostitute transexuals say... oh wait.
-
Re: Never trust a person that doesn't drink....
@deuce You agree with 9er? :facepalm
There are plenty of trust worthy sober people, lol obviously. Guess what, some people just don't like to drink! Has nothing to do with trusting themselves.
So if you met Neil deGrasse Tyson at some science convention and you found out he doesn't drink you would deem him as someone you can't trust?
-
Re: Never trust a person that doesn't drink....
I don't trust any human who refuses a heroin syringe.
If they don't trust themselves with that then obviously I can't trust them...:lol
-
Re: Never trust a person that doesn't drink....
Heroine is an uncontrollable drug; obviously an asinine analogy.
-
Re: Never trust a person that doesn't drink....
if you cant trust someone who doesnt drink then you take alcohol too seriously.
you probably aint that fun to be around when drinking anyways...
-
Re: Never trust a person that doesn't drink....

? heroin/opiates CAN be controlled and done responsibly
but anyway...lettuce b reality...basing your trust in another human around their drinking habits is stupidity

Re: Never trust a person that doesn't drink....
All kidding and film noir jokes aside, I am weary in my professional and personal life of people who absolutely refuse to have a beer or glass of wine. Typically some very poor judgement is in their past.
-
Re: Never trust a person that doesn't drink....
Haha why would it even get to the point where they absolutely refuse
"Want a beer?"
"No thanks"
"Cmonnn"
"Nah I'm good"
"Have a fvking drink"
Have you ever been in a social situation?
"You want me to grab you something?
"No, I don't drink.
That happens quite a bit and that guy is typically either very religious or some bad history. I am weary of that.
