lebron has become old, low-flyer... takes extra time to set up Jordan Lean-In.. mechanical, no fluidity.. :facepalm

Re: So Lebron tried to do the Jordan lean-in tonight..
I am going to disagree with the OP. Jordan didn't invent the "jordan lean-in" as you like to call it.
Just like there is no such thing as Jordan fade away, Jordan hook shot, Jordan chewing gum and Jordan is the only black player.

they're pretty equal off one leg - jordan cocks it back from the FT line with ease - lebron isn't doing any better than that.
certainly, they are closer off one leg than they are off two - Lebron has almost no chest-to-chest posters over defenders off two legs (in b4 damon jones), while jordan has tons off one or two legs.
also, by the age of 29, jordan jumped higher either way.

nah... lebron's peak vs jordan's peak off one leg is about the same.
and now at age 29, jordan is easily > of one leg than lebron.
of course, off two legs, a lot of guys jump higher than lebron, let alone jordan.

Nah jordan is much worse off one leg compared to lebron at his peak

Jordan had a documented 48" vertical:

Here's an article by Tim Grover where he documented Jordan's vertical at his sports academy... http://www.si.com/edge/2014/10/16/tim-grover-talent-isnt-enough
Here is a study done by researchers at UNC on Jordan's vertical... http://www.jospt.org/doi/pdf/10.2519/jospt.1999.29.1.A1
Also, in the first GIF from the OP, Jordan's head looks like it gets above the rim - i could probably pause it at the right time and jordan's head would be at the rim vs Nance...
here are photos of Jordan with his head over the rim:

Re: So Lebron tried to do the Jordan lean-in tonight..
Yes Jordan's dunks are nicer than LeBron's.
OP needs therapy.
-
Re: So Lebron tried to do the Jordan lean-in tonight..
Nobody has ever argued LeBron's anywhere close to being the 2 footed leaper MJ was. And why post gifs of a 24, 25 and 28 year old MJ when LeBron's 2 weeks short of his 30th birthday? MJ's leaping ability by 30(1993) had seen a noticeable dip too.

you're talking out of your ass if you think mike was an inferior one-legged jumper.
dude dunked from the friggin foul line. that's planting on one foot and then flying.
-
Re: So Lebron tried to do the Jordan lean-in tonight..
Looks like a regular two foot dunk to me. :confusedshrug:
What's next, LeBron shoots a turnaround and you post six gifs of better looking MJ turnarounds? Who the fuck cares? 2 points is 2 points.
EDIT: Two foot, not two handed

So what? LeBron did that in game, essentially.
-
Re: So Lebron tried to do the Jordan lean-in tonight..
Not to be disrespectful, but why are we comparing MJ when he's basically in top athletic shape to the version of LBJ that's declined athletically? I mean LBJ will probably surpass the total minutes MJ played as a Bull by the end of this year (depending on his MPG and the extent of their assumed playoff run). He's got a ton of wear/tear on his legs, especially since he's carried so much more weight for so long.
MJ was a hecka of leaper off one or both feet, and LBJ's no slouch.
-
Re: So Lebron tried to do the Jordan lean-in tonight..
Why is OP so obsessed with LeBron and Jordan comparisons? I feel like I can't open a thread without some 3ball comparisons popping up.
Actually thinking about pulling a Droid101 and using the IL.
Can't he post this shit all in one thread maybe in the Chicago Bulls fan forum?

Despite the fact that LeBron outweighs Jordan's playing weight by nearly 50 pounds.

Re: So Lebron tried to do the Jordan lean-in tonight..
3Ball, why are you trying to tear down a nice dunk, and a great game from Lebron? I certainly agree that Jordan is a generally better leaper off two feet than Lebron, and an equivalent leaper off one foot, particularly when given the differences in their height. However, Lebron's had some nice dunks off two feet, it's not like he's a pathetic two foot jumper. In fact I'd say his two foot jump is at least 36-37 inches based on sometimes I've seen him a few inches below rim level when jumping off two feet. But generally, I agree he doesn't show a huge amount of explosiveness off two feet.
I like a lot of your arguments and insights, and firmly believe Jordan is the GOAT, (with the caveat that we can't watch nearly as many of the older greats to fully compare). However, when you're constantly trying to tear down Lebron in comparison to Jordan, it doesn't help your points, it only makes you look insecure. This is friendly advice, please take it as such.
:lol

Then maybe Lebron would be as quick as Jordan with as lethal of a first step. But he's not 50 pounds lighter and he's not nearly as quick as Jordan, especially now. It's simply a trade off. If you are genetically designed to be built like a tank, you're going to have the advantages - and disadvantages - of being that big.

Yes, if he was in a test environment and not in a game or trying to contort his body for a dunk contest - indeed, Jordan had a documented 48" vertical:
