Wide receiver is more athletic than running back imo.
Running backs, linebackers and safeties are probably all more athletic, you could also argue wide receivers and cornerbacks
Wide receiver or cornerback.
wide receivers and cornerbacks
not even close
maybe if LBJ and Iggy were still in their athletic primes...
1st baseman. Some of them can do the splits.
No
Players at positions such as WR, LB, RB and S in the NFl generally rely more on elite athleticism, whereas in the NBA it's more on size and skill.
Not to say that there aren't elite athletes in the NBA though, because there obviously are.
What about boxing? It's probably the most fatiguing sport out there, and you have to be explosive, quick, strong and sturdy if you want to be elite.
Or does it have to be a team sport with actual positions? If so I'll agree with the small forward position. I have a hard time imagining Megatron is more athletic than 09 Lebron.
edit: Don't know much about futbol/soccer, but it's the most popular sport in the world so I'd imagine they'd have a good argument for most athletic position in sports. The pool of talent for futbol around the world is ridiculously huge.

It is up there, but several football positions are higher.

Is that you determine top athletes?
Defensive lineman are so freakishly athletic, especially considering how big they need to be to fight in the trenches. Them and CBs.
Yes, you are right.
There is another position in any sport with players that have the mix of size, strength, speed, vertical, coordination and agility.
Bron
Pippen
Julius
Tmac
Durant
Name me a better top 5 than that.
NFL Wife Receivers are absolute freaks and no NBA position can compare. These guys devote 90% of their training to their athleticism and 10% on skills and fundamentals. People like LeBron spend more than 50% of their time working on skills such as shooting and dribbling.

Dwight

LeBron in his athletic prime could compete with any WR

No.
The NBA relies as much on skill as it does on athleticism, so if you're comparing the entire SF position to positions in other sports, other sports should come out on top. The NFL relies much more on pure athleticism than the NBA does and there are multiple positions which I'm sure would have prove more athletic as a whole when compared to the SF position.
LeBron in his athletic prime could compete with any WR
That's one player.
How would Luke Walton, Larry Bird, Jared Dudley, Jason Cook, Gallinari, Paul Pierce, etc... fare in tests of athleticism?
How tall and heavy is the average wide receiver? Give or take

Even the worst ones are athletic.

The NFL easily has 5-6 positions way more athletic.....LeBron is talked about as a freak athlete but the NFL has players like Adrian Peterson, Calvin Johnson, JJ Watt, etc....that just blow him away. You find me a player in the NFL that can run the 40 in 4.35 seconds like Calvin did at 6'5 240 lbs or a player than can box jump 61 inches at 295 pounds like JJ Watt and maybe there's an argument but it's not even close.

No NFL player "blows away" lebron.
No NFL player "blows away" lebron.
Actually they do, in terms of speed, strength, and mental fortitude. It ain't close brother.
OP probably can't even define athleticism.
What makes a SF more athletic than a center, or a PF, or a guard?
What makes an NBA SF more athletic than an Olympic decathlete, or a gymnast?
This dude is a punter in the NFL

I highly doubt there is anyone in the NFL that is Bron's height, weight with a 40 inch vertical and a 4.4 40 yard dash. Its pretty much fact Bron in the greatest all round athlete the world has ever seen.

You mean 4.6
And no. It isn't.

But he's probably more athletic than most small forwards in the NBA.
Not even considering wide receivers and DBs.
athletic [ath-let-ik]
adjective
of or relating to athletes; involving the use of physical skills or capabilities, as strength, agility, or stamina.
he's more agile than any SF (and most likely way stronger even without pound for pound). And please don't link me to some PEDs ripped body, that's irrelevant, bar gymnasts can lift their own weight with one arm multiple times in a same combo.

he has more stamina than any sf

Never mind fighting sports, where they are not only stronger, and more durable, but most likely much more agile and fast.
Sure, SFs can jump higher... but jumping is irrelevant because it only applies to certain few disciplines.
When you bring actual sports into the equation, those where you don't have a 3 minute stop every other minute, I'd say there's a bunch of sports where they have much more stamina than SFs, and due to the average height of SFs, I'd say plenty of sports where they are faster too. I'm pretty sure SFs compare pretty good in strenght, at least compared to other team sports, but that's about it. A soccer player is a much better athlete because chances are, he has more stamina and runs faster, and those are universal athletic attributes.
