i like the move, they need more scoring and shooting. its a high risk move, but lance is talented, and worth the gamble
That would be a great move. He would thrive as a 3rd or 4th option again
I'm torn between thinking it's stupid based on his recent season and thinking it could be awesome if it pans out. At least you have to give them credit for trying, too many teams don't swing for the fences and settle for being mediocre.

LAC needs to try something. Even if it doesn't turn out to be great, it's still isn't exactly a failure. Considering the fact that Barnes is horrible and Hawes couldn't make the rotation.
They are trading virtually nothing to get him. But Lance is a team chemistry killer. He has done it now with two different teams.
I wouldn't want to take that risk.
Lance is cancer. Even in his good seasons he wasnt good.
They got JJ and Jamal. Why not try to get a sf?

Absolutely need to make this trade. Hawes was worthless and Barnes had some good stretches for us but he is 35 and way past his prime. There is no other team that desparately needs a young, athletic wing player than the Clips. Right now, we aren't good enough to win a title. Lance is a gamble but one worth taking imo because we don't lose much.

We have enough shooters. We need D on the perimeter, a slasher and someone who can run the floor.
doc would get him to play above average basketball again.

Unless the Clippers improve their god awful bench, defense or get rid of Crawford they're not doing shit. It's just gonna be another disappointing playoff exit.
I guess Stephenson will provide better defense in the playoffs but I don't see how this will help take them to championship level. Their core problems are still there and Jamal Crawford is still there.
More stable players that CP3 can count on.
They desperately need a defensive wing. Barnes is so washed and he can't even ht 3s anymore

Hes a dope for sure, but his game is EXACTLY what the Clippers need along with a quality third big, and obviously there arent that many other options out there as far as difference makers.
I frequently criticize teams for taking dumb chances on knuckleheads, but in this circumstance I think its a reasonable calculated risk. I bet theyre prob encouraged by the way Smoove payed off for Houston, too.
They need to find someone else not named Stephenson. I'd prefer a 35 year old Barnes on my team tbh.

Josh Smith is actually good in my opinion. Lance is not.

He's borderline but mostly beta. Stephenson is an energy alpha, he knows how to get emotions out of players.

Lance is horrible. Pretty much useless when his jump shot isn't falling, which is most of the time.

it's more like he realizes his mistakes and tries to fix them. which is good it would just be more helpful if he didn't make the bad moves in the first place.
I dont understand yall sayin Stephenson sucks. You must be judging him by Charlotte's ill-conceived idea to give him a leadership role and expext him to carry a significant load.
He clearly thrived as a freelancing (no pun intended) swing player running the wing on fastbreaks or spotting up for open shots in Indy. Basically a support player adding a dynamic/athletic punch to the core options of the team. Sure his lack of maturity still frustrated Indy at times and thats the risk the Clippers are taking. But to say he cant play?? We clearly have seen that he can, in the role the Clippers have lined up for him. He was very nearly an allstar doing it in Indy.
I presume this opens the door for Charlotte to draft Devin Booker. Dammit.

- 2013-14 w/ Pacers: 13.8 PPG, 7.2 RPG & 4.6 APG
- 2014-15 w/ Hornets: 8.2 PPG, 4.5 RPG & 3.9 APG

They are capped out with very limited trade chips. It might not work out but they aren't getting over the top with this squad as it stands now.
Im shocked for anyone who thinks this is a bad deal for the Clippers. They unloaded Hawes who they clearly have no confidence in and was beat out of the rotation by Big Baby. Unreal they could actually get value back for his crap season.
He had a off year last season, but played well on the Pacers where there were more talent and leadership. I think with Doc and CP3, he will be in check. And they can just not pick up his option next year if he is a cancer.
Lance is a playmaker and will help the bench in a big way. He is a solid defender and can create his shot and distribute. They need a guy like him. I think the gamble is completely worth it.

Barnes is obviously a better player, but like an above poster said, he's old and he'll be done soon. Hawes is terrible.
I think Lance will perform better in a situation like this. He's best suited as the 4th option, and the Clippers seem to be structured - something he desperately needs.
