Chris Paul challenges Michael Jordan to shooting contest, Jordan doesn't miss once
.@CP3 bet MJ that if he missed three shots, the whole camp would get free shoes (via coachspoon2/Instagram)https://t.co/QkP1BCnZRw

Re: Chris Paul challenges Michael Jordan to shooting contest, Jordan doesn't miss once
Out of curiosity, did he truly make every single shot, or did the video edit out a miss or two? Not asking as a skeptic, just honestly wondering. The kids seemed to lose a bit of their enthusiasm down the stretch so I'm assuming he was never at risk of missing a third.

Re: Chris Paul challenges Michael Jordan to shooting contest, Jordan doesn't miss once
Those aren't underprivileged kids, i'm sure the vast majority has their parents pay, i'm sure they're well off.
Camp participants normally get free Js at the end either way.

What a asshole
Kobe would have made all shots as well and still give out free shoes.

Re: Chris Paul challenges Michael Jordan to shooting contest, Jordan doesn't miss once
MJ has somehow managed to slow the aging process. It feels like his whole Wizards experiment wasn't that long ago, but it has been almost 15 years now. And, I'll forever say that he was underrated as a player in those two years. He was far and away the best player on the team (partly because he stupidly traded Rip Hamilton for Stackhouse, but that's a different conversation) and, had he been able to play that full season (he missed around 20 games both seasons iirc) they probably would have made the playoffs in one or both years.
He was still putting up 20+/6/5 on 45% shooting. If he could have gotten into a situation where there wasn't so much focus on him and he could pick and choose his spots, miss a few games without the team folding, etc., who knows how good his teams could have been in those last couple years.
Here we are, a decade-plus later, the guy doesn't look much different at all and he still looks like he could go out and get you 15-20 points a night if he really put his mind to it. :oldlol:

I remember talking to Quentin Richardson at a Clippers event, and he said MJ was killing it before he got hurt.
And Artest agrees MJ would've been killing it if it wasn't for the injury.

Did Q say if MJ told him why he quit on his team while in the middle of his contract right before the 1994 season?

He had already mastered basketball, and wanted to give baseball a try, since it was his favorite childhood sport.

Yup, keeping believing that ESPN manufactured BS. :yaohappy:
"NBA Superstar gives up prolific basketball career and $100M of endorsements to go fulfill his passion of playing d-league baseball" :oldlol:
Yup, totally believable.
The truth was Jordan was quietly racking up gambling debts in Atlantic City, got caught by both the mob and the NBA and thus had to cut a deal to escape successfully.
If the mob is after you, the LAST thing you want is to stay in the spotlight as a NBA superstar, so Jordan cut a deal with Stern to leave the spotlight for a few years in exchange for witness protection from the Mob and debt protection.
The more you know :confusedshrug:

Yeah Jordan wasn't earning enough to pay his "debts" if he stayed in the spotlight. Genius.

He didn't quit on his team. He was suspended by the NBA, and they masked it to look like a retirement. He was gambling on games, and they didn't want a Pete Rose situation.
He got an 18 month suspension. And he wasn't in the middle of his contract, he was in the last two years of his contract.
At least get your facts straight if you're going to trash the guy. SMH.

Its like people absolutely cannot wait to come in and bash MJ. They are the reasons 3ball exists, not the other way around..
Anyway, its just a topic about him being challenged to a shooting contest, somehow turns into the same hold hating bs.

He got suspended for gambling is FACT??
got the link?
If he was suspended for 18mos. Then why why he allowed to comeback a month early? Announced he was quitting October of 93' and came back March of 95'
He was NOT in the last 2yrs of his contract. He signed a 8yr deal in 1988 for 25mil per. It would have expired in the summer of 96'
Maybe you should get your facts straight first before telling others to do so, Chico.
