The fact that Black Panther got nominated over Infinity war is a disgrace

For whomever saw both and has seen all Marvel movies leading up to Infinity War

1. Infinity War had better acting
2. Infinity War had a better story
3. Infinity War had better special effects
4. Infinity War is the 3 levels above Black Panther in every aspect

Infinity war was good. Definitely better than Black Panther, which I felt was extremely overrated. I tried hard to enjoy it but just didn't feel it. It was bit above average at best, but nothing to gush about. Infinity War I never felt was overrated for a moment. Yeah, it was no Shawshank Redemption or Godfather level acting, but still good overall.

Neither were great movies to the point of deserving a nomination. We all know by BP got (most of the nominations)

A lot of the critiques pushing down these DC movies can apply to the Marvel ones too.

Not sure how anything I said is exactly outlandish. I think even if you ask the biggest comic books fans, they will say that the Batman movies and first Iron Man ones are amongst the best.

People praised Civil War as an amazing movie, yet it didn't tackle the main theme in its story arch at all and was a complete clusterfk. Just an example, but plenty of the Marvel movies do this, yet people eat up all the drivel they spit out.

Apologies for watching a movie and actually trying to connect the pieces instead of being impressed by superheroes on screen.

When you talk about the "critiques pushing down the DC movies", I assume you are referring to the Snyder films and not the Christopher Nolan trilogy? Those Snyder films deserve their harsh critiques, even the worst marvel movie is better than BvS and Justice League.

Anyway, I would bet the farm that 99% of marvel fans would rate The Dark Knight as the best comic book movie of all time... and I bet most marvel fans would also rate the original Iron Man as one of the greatest marvel films.... so what exactly are you bitching about?

Considering you have to watch probably at least 10 different MCU movies to have a good understanding of the events in Infinity War, it makes sense that Black Panther would get a nomination over it as a standalone title.

The Return Of the King even won it all including 10 other Oscars. You could argue the same about RoTK yet it won it.

Critics and fan ratings are always disparate . They are never the same in almost any discipline. Heck, even the Titanic had a bigger disparity than Black Panther. And Black Panther gets an absurd number of irrational haters even in this thread.

While this is totally subjective no journalist is going to embarrass themselves and say Brolin, Downing or Holland deserved awards for their acting. While I liked them (Zoe and Hemsworth too) I didn't say let me watch it again for the acting. All of the acting was good. With that said: Boseman was more convincing as a leader. B. Jordan and Serikis were better as villains.

Four actors or actresses (Idi Amin, Tina Turner, James Brown or Jackie Robinson, Adonis) have iconic roles from Panther. Lupita will be the fifth to make it next year with her role as Adelaid in the upcoming horror flick "Us". Like Avengers there were no bad acting on the set and several stand out performances. In general the human story is much better in Black Panther. I felt some for Gamora.

It wasn't a very good movie though.. Definitely not as good as rottentomatoes critics reviews. It's not worth watching in theater -- worth watching once but zero re-watch value and not Oscar-worthy.. Maybe for CGI, cinematography, etc I would nominate for. Still, it's not in the same universe as Infinity War.

If I'm comparing Black Panther directly to Infinity War, then it's a slap in the face to nominate Black Panther for anything and not nominate Infinity War for same stuff - Infinity War should win over Black Panther for almost all of those awards. I understand the social value of it being the first movie with full black cast/crew/production/etc and it's inspirational in that manner, but I can't judge a movie and nominations on that alone. That's not reasonable and going way too far. What do you tell the cast/crew of Infinity War? "You are not all black so you don't deserve this nomination"??
