LeBron's SPECTACULAR fall from grace
Just think back to the common perception of LeBron James after the 2016 Finals. And then compare it to now.
After getting DESTROYED by KD two years in a row and now this absolute disaster of a season in LA...
Has anyone ever gone from ruler of all the earth to a total laughingstock in just two and a half years? It's honestly hilarious.
Kobe must be laughing SO. F*CKING. HARD. at all of it. The difference in how those two are viewed in socal has gotten even bigger! hahahahaha!

Re: LeBron's SPECTACULAR fall from grace
Kyrie is widely regarded as the biggest idiot in the NBA. He said the Earth is flat ffs.
My argument is only strengthened by him saying that.
Anything else?

Re: LeBron's SPECTACULAR fall from grace
Happens to every player, not sure why it's a big deal.
Lebron at 34 is better than most other superstars at that age :confusedshrug:

Why, because one last nba player is stuck in Lebrons ass while half the league publicly disrespects bran?

Re: LeBron's SPECTACULAR fall from grace
Nah, you can't just toss in the last two years and place them on equal footing with this season. LeBron played like a god (offensively) the last two years in the playoffs, even sparking massive GOAT debates last year. He simply ran into an ATG Warriors team, still playing extremely well (offensively) in defeat.
This season though, especially the last 2 weeks has been an unmitigated disaster

I agree, but this thread isn't about the quality of his play - it's about his image, reputation, legacy, etc. Perception shifts a LOT when you get absolutely wrecked two years in a row with your #1 rival hitting daggers in your face in both series and winning FMVP. Even if he was actually playing well, that is all just a massively bad look.
This season is transforming the whole thing in a nightmarish way. Going to the Lakers might have actually been the biggest miscalculation of LeBron's whole career - even worse than "The Decision".
-
Re: LeBron's SPECTACULAR fall from grace
wait for next year at least, come on. 2018 was fine perception wise because of the talent disparity so its only been a year of a negative reputation

All it says is he's impatient. If anything, the way current younger stars handle media press stress speaks to how much more polished he is than them. Still has a lot of players who love him off the court.
He's the bench mark for off and on court success. Players are animalistic. The lion is getting older so of course they all want to shine by taking him out. I think an analyst on Fox said that teams play the lakers much harder because they want to be beat Lebron now that he's not as invincible. It happens.

Re: LeBron's SPECTACULAR fall from grace
Should've never went West. Let's be honest. He feasted on the East's weak competition. That's how he's so productive in the playoffs. Could've went to the Sixers.
Made ya bed. Now sleep in it.

He's hardley a laughing stock but he's definitely getting worse. He's not good enough to carry a team anymore without help but what 34 year old can? If you put a couple all stars around him and some good defenders that can pick up his slack on defence he can still win a chip. Not sure if he'll ever get that though

If you replaced Kuzma, Ingram, Hart, Rondo & McGee with guys that were the same exact level of player as they currently are, and instead, the replacements were better at shooting and defending while being worse at iso scoring, all of this LeBron can't play in the West talk would evaporate over night and they would be pushing for homecourt in the West.
But... none of those guys can shoot or defend particularly well other than for brief stretches.
LeBron didn't fall off a cliff from last year to this year and it's not a result of playing in the West.
LeBron is barely two dimensional offensively and he always has been... he either shoots a three, or, you set a pick for him and he bullies his way to the basket and scores or kicks it out for three. That is his game. But this year, he has nobody to kick it to. And his defense is worse than ever.
But yeah... give him some shooters and some halfway decent defenders and the Lakers would be above 40 wins right now.
My gut tells me that this is the weakest supporting cast he's ever had in terms of shooting ability save maybe his first year or two in Cleveland as a rookie.
He was never good enough to carry a team without help from multiple all star calibre players....
well technically no but those early cavs teams weren't great and he got 2 wins against the warriors team in 2015 with nobody.

1 year he's back on top of the nba ladder. No. 1 in the West, and a top 2 mvp candidate.

Sixers are sucking this year. They are the 6th seed in the East. LeBron signing with the Lakers was always the right choice. Traded ingram, ball and hart for Anthony Davis in the off season.
