Hakeem won MVP, finals MVP, and DPOY in 93-94. How many others did it?
Anyone know of any others?
Simply an amazing accomplishment.

Re: Hakeem won MVP, finals MVP, and DPOY in 93-94. How many others did it?
Off the top of my head no
If they had the dpoy award back on the day I think Russell would have a few, Kareem and Wilt could get one. KG could have probably done it with a better squad in his youth. A guy like Leonard could still do it today.

He did all that AND carried arguably the worst championship roster of all time

Lebron was close, 2nd in DPOY 2013

Re: Hakeem won MVP, finals MVP, and DPOY in 93-94. How many others did it?
Peak Hakeem and Shaq are the only 2 who can compete with peak MJ for GOAT and Shaq has clear weaknesses on defense and with his FT shooting compared to those too. He was more dominant and automatic offensively but he wasnt as complete and u couldnt take advantage of any part of MJ or Hakeems game on either end
-
Re: Hakeem won MVP, finals MVP, and DPOY in 93-94. How many others did it?
cos MJ wasnt around. If MJ was there, then it's just DPOY for hakeem.

LeBron & Hakeem that's it

I just wish I could peek into an alternate universe where Houston agreed to the offer of Drexler and the #2 pick for Sampson which gives the Rockets and big 3 of Hakeem, Jordan, and Drexler.
They legit may have approached the 60s Celtics.
What the hell do you do with Hakeem down low and Jordan and Drexler on the wings?

Re: Hakeem won MVP, finals MVP, and DPOY in 93-94. How many others did it?
I don't think its been done. MJ has done DPOY, MVP and scoring title, but that combination (DPOY and both mvps) hasn't been done if I'm not mistaken.
In any other era,Hakeem would have been the player of his generation. Running into the greatest player ever is unfortunate sometimes because your legacy would be a lot greater than it already is if he weren't around.

Re: Hakeem won MVP, finals MVP, and DPOY in 93-94. How many others did it?
If the FMVP and DPOY existed in the 60's Bill Russell would have easily accomplished this in...
1962- Won MVP, was recognized as the best defensive player, and led his team in scoring, rebounding, and fg% in the finals.
1963- Won MVP, was recognized as the best defensive player, avg. 20ppg in the finals with dominant rebounding and defense in the finals
1965- Won MVP, was recognized as the best defensive player, avg. 17.8ppg on a still standing record for a 5 game series 70.2 fg% with dominant rebounding and defense in the finals
Wilt would have accomplished this is 1967. His '67 season is arguably the peak all around season in league history. He won the MVP, had a GOAT level defensive performance, and did the same in the finals. That season, Russell stated that Wilt had figured out how to play like him but better.

That's insane
Porter at point, MJ at SG, Drexler at SF, Buck at PF and imagine in that universe, Sabonis coming over from Europe to play center.
As a Bulls fan, thank goodness that didn't materialize :lol

Re: Hakeem won MVP, finals MVP, and DPOY in 93-94. How many others did it?
Giannis can do it. So can Embiid especially with Philly looking to be a nightmare defensively this season
@The above post. LeBron was closer to 3rd in DPOY voting than he was to beating Gasol in 2013. Or put a different way, LeBron was as “close” to beating Gasol as the 7th place finisher was to finishing ahead of LeBron
Gasol kinda ran away with it and was the favorite the whole year. So that “everyone knows” narrative is pretty hilarious
Hakeem is kind of overrated. 90’s was an absolute shit era and he didn’t get it done the majority of the time
Overrated? He didn't have all-time great teammates for most of his career. He finally got some when he was in his mid-30s and so were others.
When he won 58 games and MVP/DPOY/FMVP, Otis Thorpe was his 2nd option at 14 points per game. He absolutely carried an average roster to a title. He led the team in points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks for the entire title run in 1994.
90's is absolute shit to you because you weren't alive for most of it and don't know what you're talking about.

We really bragging about 2nd place now?
I guess it makes sense a Lebronsexual would brag about 2nd place, seeing as his idol has lost 6 times in the Finals.
and MJ finished 2nd in 1993 so nice try.

MJ didn't win MVP that year
So only LeBron can MVP and Finals MVP whilst finishing top 2 in DPOY :applause:
MJ simply didn't have what it takes to accomplish such a feat

Re: Hakeem won MVP, finals MVP, and DPOY in 93-94. How many others did it?

It's arbitrary. Jordan has done DPOY and scoring title and MVP in the same season. We are talking about a random arbitrary combination that has only been done by Hakeem.
And Lebron certainly wasn't close to winning it in 2013 because the gap between Gasol and him was huge.
We have a few players who have won FMVp, MVP and dPOY in different years. But they've checked all boxes and won all of them. Lebron never won DPOY so this is a moot point.

He was by far the best player in the league that year. MJ suffered because the voters/league didn't want to give him the award every single year but he still led the league in scoring, steals, PER, winshares, +/-, VORP.
Jordan's won MVP and DPOY in the same season so I don't think it matters either way. Lebron has never won DPOY or played well enough on that end to be considered one.

Olajuwon's rookie year he had Ralph Sampson who was All-NBA that year, reigning rookie of the year and avg. 19-11 his 2nd season. Robert Reid and Lewis Lloyd we also very serviceable players on that team.

Yeah, and he made the Finals his 2nd season, beating the Showtime Lakers 4 - 1 with Ralph Sampson as his 2nd option and losing to a 67-win Celtics squad in 6 games.
But much like Kobe, he didn't have any great players around him during his absolute prime so he lost out on a lot of potential championships. Maybe if Sampson doesn't play on his injured knee and the two stayed together for a long time. Imagine if he played with a guy like Stockton or Zeke or Kevin Johnson ins his prime though.

Yeah of course no one else has done that, there is a reason why Hakeem is top 10 all time.
-
Re: Hakeem won MVP, finals MVP, and DPOY in 93-94. How many others did it?
The year before is actually his best season. He was 2nd in MVP voting (more votes than Jordan) and won DPOY over Jordan. He won more in 1994 because the Sonics choked against the Nuggets (Rockets avoided them) and Barkley and the Suns got worse. Plus even if they had gotten past those two teams I don't think they would've beaten the Bulls. Everything worked out perfectly for him in 1994.

Since on alot of AT lists Hakeem is considered #10, that would make Lebron #11.

Hakeem had a winning record against MJ and up to 93 was 11-4 against him
Rockets frontcourt always bullied the Bulls on the glass and MJ was far less efficient against them with Hakeems perimeter and paint coverage, from his scoring efficiency (53.8 TS) to turnovers (3 a game, 14.3 tov % for a guy who was single digit turnover rate for his career).
It was a bad matchup for them and well known at the time too. With MJs struggles against them they didnt have the offense around him and their frontcourt was food for Hakeem and even guys like Thorpe and Horry gave the Bulls issues

It would have been interesting to see what the Rockets would have done if that team didn
