Deshaun Watson
Texans QB Deshaun Watson has requested to be traded
https://www.nfl.com/news/texans-qb-deshaun-watson-has-requested-to-be-traded
Deshaun Watson officially wants out of Houston.
The Pro Bowl quarterback has requested to be traded by the Texans, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported. Watson negotiated a no-trade clause in the extension he signed last summer and, by virtue of his contract, would decide what places would be acceptable, Rapoport added.
The trade request transpired a few weeks ago and teams have already been calling the Texans in attempts to acquire Watson, per Rapoport and NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. The organization, though, has said privately it's not trading the face of its franchise, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported.
Don't really see this trade happening... Houston would probably want more than two 1st round picks. Who would give that much up?
-
Re: Deshaun Watson
You obviously don't understand the value that teams place on a 25 year old, top 5 QB who is signed through 2025.
Khalil Mack got two firsts. Enough said.

I understand the value... And like I said... Houston would want more than two firsts.
The problem is, when you draft a player in the first round... their rookie contract isn't over $100 million.
High first round draft picks are talented players that don't kill your salary cap space.
CeeDee Lamb cost $14 million over 4 years at the 17th pick. That's a bargain. $3.5 million per year.
Watson costs $30 million per year over 3 years. No bargain.
-
Re: Deshaun Watson
Khalil Mack got two firsts.
So Raiders ended up with
(24th) RB Josh Jacobs: 4 years @ $12 million
(19th) CB Damon Arnette: 4 years @ $13.5 million
vs
Khalil Mack who averages $23 million per year.
Jacobs and Arnette will combine for an average of $6.5 million per year.
see the price difference?
Obviously I'd rather have Khalil Mack over Jacobs & Arnette but I'm paying 4x the cost.

Re: Deshaun Watson
Every single Houston sports team absolutely imploding.
Astros karma'd their entire city. Never cheat the game.
-
Re: Deshaun Watson
Draft picks are unknown. It's illogical to use draft hits as evidence why teams won't do it. Half of first round picks are busts or just replaceable players.
Watson is known. No guessing involved.
Jets #2 + Seattle pick they got from Adams trade could easily get it done. Maybe Darnold + #2 could even do it.
#2 has a tremendous value. It's not a normal first rounder that is typically involved in trades for established players.
-
Re: Deshaun Watson
Jets do have some fire power in this year's draft... but Watson is not gonna want to play for that organization.

Re: Deshaun Watson
https://www.nfl.com/news/carolina-panthers-to-be-aggressive-in-pursuit-of-potential-deshaun-watson-trade
NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Thursday on NFL NOW that the Panthers will be "aggressive" in pursuit of the 25-year-old QB.
"Don't sleep on the Carolina Panthers," Rapoport said. "They are a team that I'm told is going to be aggressive in potentially acquiring Deshaun Watson."
The Panthers have a lot to like. It's a relatively young roster with room to grow. There are young studs on defense (Brian Burns, Jeremy Chinn) . The offense has high-caliber weapons (Christian McCaffrey, D.J. Moore , Robby Anderson).
He literally listed them (The Jets) as his #1 destination.
He literally listed them (The Jets) as his #1 destination.
Well $hit...
looks like that's the most likely scenario then.
Wonder if the Texans would be interested in Darnold...
one proposal I just read suggested it would cost the Jets #2, #23 and a future 1st
Jets need to avoid giving up that 2022 first round pick imo.
Darnold, #2 and #23 seems like a good deal for both teams.... Texans don't have a first or second in this year's draft.

Re: Deshaun Watson
We need to get Stafford. The AFC east bout to become the home of good QBs
-
Re: Deshaun Watson
Since I can’t start a thread-
JJ Watt released from the Texans

Re: Deshaun Watson
He literally listed them (The Jets) as his #1 destination.
If I was the Jets GM, this would be a red flag for me. Why on earth would any good QB ever want to join the Jets... especially when that QB is citing franchise incompetence as the reason he wants to leave his current team in the first place?
-
Re: Deshaun Watson
He thinks highly of the new head coach there.
Jets could turn this around fairly quickly. They will have to give up a lot of draft capital for Watson but they have a lot of it due to the Adams trade and Darnold could bring back at least a second rounder.
They have a lot of money to spend. New York is a nice free agent destination.
-
Re: Deshaun Watson
IMHO a nice destination for a higher end QB like Deshaun would be somewhere like Chicago, Minnesota, Tennessee... A team that would become an elite team if they had an elite QB.
The jets are somehow even weaker on skill players than the Texans, and somehow the Jets owner seems just as incompetent as the texans owner

I wouldn't have the Bears on that list. Nagy has scapegoated a kicker, two different qb's, and his coordinators to keep the target off his back. I wouldn't choose to play for him if I had the power to pick where I wanted to go.

I tend to agree about nagy, all I am saying is that (unlike the Jets) the Bears already have a solid roster and could potentially go from mediocre to great overnight with a QB upgrade like Watson...
-
Re: Deshaun Watson
I don't think Minnesota would jump as much as you'd think. Cousins is a good QB. Their defense isn't that good anymore.
The problem with the Texans wasn't the offense it was the defense. They'd obviously be better off because Watson is better than Cousins but considering what they'd have to cough up, the talent level would hard to improve upon what they have now. Which isn't great.
They have great name brand weapons, but Minnesota has a pretty flawed roster themselves.

Bears have two problems. OK but not special offensive talent, and too much money tied up in Mack.
Truthfully, Watson might be a great Raider.
-
Re: Deshaun Watson
Watson should be asking for a trade to Washington if he wants to win a ring and get credit for making a team better. You got already got Chase Young and Ron Riviera in a weak division.
-
Re: Deshaun Watson
What the **** is Houston waiting for?? The draft is less than two months away. Stack some picks and trade Deshaun. To the Jets. Please.
-
Re: Deshaun Watson
Well.. That's a lot of lawsuits with apparently 10 more women considering coming forward - could hit 22-23 different women if they all sue.. What happens next? These cases could go on for a year or probably multiple years. I bet every team, including Jets, just pulled their offers. He is a PR-nightmare until further notice. I don't even know if the nfl will let him play anytime soon.
Texans must be losing their minds for not doing the trade because now they might be stuck with him & get absolutely nothing in return.

These are Cosby/Trump/Weinstein/etc number of allegations. I have not read what the specifics are of each allegation & how many are actual rape vs flirting/advances. Still, the sheer number of them is nuts.

13 total, 6 of them massage therapists...wow
wouldn't be surprised if a few of them are women looking to cash in, but there is no way ALL of them are.
We may not ever see him play again...which is a real shame :(

Yea that's a money grab. Those massage therapists do that shit with plenty of clients, but if they can stick the guy for his money they will.

It’s $300 not 300$. That’s the real tragedy here.

If you don’t know the specifics of the case why are you so comfortable posting a photo of Cosby face on his body? That’s weird. So he’s guilty on all accounts to you. Even tho you don’t know the specifics behind any of it. Imagine if you were a judge. Yikes.

Not that it isn’t gross, but there has to be some sort of accounting system to determine if they were paid more by him specifically.
But I don’t feel like Deshaun Watson would struggle to have pretty much any girl that he wants. So this is really really weird.

Not reading through documents for 14 separate court cases. Anyways, I saw that photoshopped photo posted in a Colts reddit thread and found it funny (for all the wrong reasons, yes yes). Texans, Titans, and Jaguars get clowned there a lot due to inter-divisional rivalries.
Is he guilty? I have no idea but that's for the courts to decide. Regardless, that is a lot of court cases and still 7-8 more women have yet to decide whether to file or not. It doesn't look good at all for Watson.
If I was the judge or jury, I would read every case involved and be there in real-time to see the case unfold. I'm not in that position so I can freely sit here speculating & posting memes.

The owner of the patriots literally got caught with this exact thing. We have to wait and see what this situation is. Is this a Darren Sharper situation where he was flying all over the countries drugging and raping blatantly? I read the Sharper case that guy was a true predator. In this case? Off the bat if I'm just eyeballing it? This is just a "massage" therapist aka happy ending thing that these women have engaged with tons of clients to perform, but right when the fella gets that big money coming, a bunch of them come spilling out the closet looking for their slice of the cake. If that's the case, these ho's should not only be ashamed of themselves, they're some of the most vile life forms to exist on this planet. If it's not and it's a Sharper case? Then I'd gladly admit I was wrong and so was this guy. I don't think it was though.

16 now...one of them looks to have decent evidence in the form of Insta messages and text messages and calling friends and family after.
It is clear that Watson was seeking out lots of massage therapists on his own to come to his home...that in itself is suspicious IMO.
Also suspicious that all the stories mirror each other IMO...all of them basically saying the same thing

Dude signed a 14 mil contract with another $8 as a signing bonus his rookie year. Do the happy ending ho’s only come out once we get into the 100 mil range? It’s fishy.
Compared to every client they’ve ever had, he’s already HUGE money.

There's a huge difference between that initial rookie contract and a 100 million dollar contract. Far, far, far more to milk, and notice these are all "civil" cases, not criminal, meaning right off the bat these women don't even want him prosecuted. They're just sticking him for his paper in the words of Christopher Wallace.

Re: Deshaun Watson
So now it's at 24 accusers...16 lawsuits
While I don't doubt there are a some liars in there...I find it almost impossible that all 24 are lying.
First off some of these women are licensed muscle therapists... which is different than some asian massage therapist. They work with athletes and we're trained for it. They are also different than some hood rat with 20 kids looking for money any way she can.
He's also contacting all these women himself... one of them he just hand picked on Insta.
And they all have the same story and details.
His lawyer definitely has his work cut out...Im betting some kind of settlement will be offered to all of them. And then what the NFL does? He might be done.

And are they coming to him? Or accepting his invitation? Contacting women on insta to come over for sex? Every athlete is doing that nowadays. Now they regret it years later just as he's about to cash in?

Can you imagine what would happen to your 90's Cowboys if they scrutinized this stuff? They used to throw cocaine yacht parties full of these hookers. Michael Irvin would be doing life under this microscope.
All civil cases... where's the criminal accusations? Civil right off the bat? That's money. Simple and plain.

A professional athlete..who is a Quarterback...who was drafted in the top 5 has already cashed in. Yes, 100 million is way different than 20 million. But 20 million is way different than 1 million, which is probably already way more than what these women see regularly anyway.
As far as civil suits instead of criminal..maybe their lawyers figure they’d never win a criminal suit like this against a professional athlete? Particularly given their line of work? I don’t know what actually happened. And neither do you.
Saying “these hos are vile and just want his money” is just as ridiculous right now as saying “he’s a rapist and deserves to rot”. And I’m sure you hate that second group.
