I am listening to a podcast right now analyzing the Ws vs Mavs game and several plays are pointed out where Luka was completely disinterested in defense. If he hasn't changed by now he probably never will.

The problem for him is that his shit definitely does rub off on his teammates. Doesn't matter if you play rec league or NBA, if your offensive star who hogs the ball doesn't play defense, then you're not going to be busting your ass on defense. If you want to be offense only, you need the ball out of your hands like AI or Reggie Miller.

He can and does play defense in the playoffs, he clearly just wants to in the first half of the season, because he is out of shape or the season is too long for him.
How are the mavs going to repeat as west champs if he's prone to becoming like this at times?
