Re: (3) Knicks vs. (6) Pistons First Round Playoff Series Thread
Knicks in a physical, hard-fought 6 games. They've simply got too many offensive weapons, and the dual big lineup will give them an effective counter. Detroit's offense is too reliant on Cade; I expect New York to trap him hard and early if they're having trouble stopping the PnR.

Knicks will barely squeak out in 7 in a tough series and get boatraced vs Boston in the next round.

Knicks in 6. But I think every game will be close.

I'm rooting for the Pistons. Only because SAS is a Knicks fan and I like to watch him cry like the sky is falling while he has a $100 million contract with ESPN.
Thibs on the hot seat?

They have to much payroll to be a first round exit. They were put together to win a championship, that isn't what I think they can do but that is the goal.

I don't give a damn about their payroll. I'm rooting for the Pistons.

John Starks on the sideline like he's out there in the game. Can't blame him.

Cade and Brunson a combined 6/24. #ForKobe

Re: (3) Knicks vs. (6) Pistons First Round Playoff Series Thread
Harris has 23 points in the first half, probably will finish with 30. :oldlol: Pretty stardard.

Is there anyone outside of NY who doesnt want the Knicks to lose every series they ever play? Laughing at big mouth Knicks fans as their dreams are shattered every year is one of life's little pleasures :D

Yes. Former NYers that retired to Florida.

They haven't had much success. Lakers on the other hand. Just as obnoxious and never have to suffer a rebuild because superstars keep falling into their laps.

None of us should care about team payrolls but payroll would absolutely be a reason for a coach to be on the hot seat. Can't imagine Dolan is spending 400 mil or whatever after the luxury tax thinking that losing to Detroit would be understandable.

But this is part of what makes the Knicks funny. Only the Lakers are a more attractive free agent destination yet they still can't seem to put it together even though they have huge advantages.

Re: (3) Knicks vs. (6) Pistons First Round Playoff Series Thread
Knicks getting outhustled here. Brunson tweaked his right foot on that drive.
-
Re: (3) Knicks vs. (6) Pistons First Round Playoff Series Thread
Sucks that Brunson is out there hobbling around now. Down 9.

It isn't though is it? The reason free agents avoid NY is because they know its career suicide. Joining the Lakers almost guarantees a championship or at least contention. No ATG has ever gone there and not won a ring. Whereas joining the Knicks guarantees impossible fan expectations and inevitable failure. The front office always float the dream of "think what it will mean to bring the Knicks a chip" but they are a clown show from top to bottom. This is a franchise owned by James Dolan, a crazy egomaniac and literal idiot. And one who had Isiah Thomas on its books in various roles for half a decade despite him being a total disaster at every ball related exercise since playing.
I'd say the Knicks are one of the least attractive destinations for any star player and as history has proved, they agree. The whole franchise is so deluded that they believe that by simply being in NY that success is a right and that stars will come. That attitude has worked really well for them. What people gloss over regarding the Lakers is that for the most apart, except the Jim Buss years, they're been exceptionally well run. It isn't just because they're in LA.

Tracy Morgan on the sidelines looking like he's in the third quarter of being trashed. :lol

Pistons so far in the fourth imploding.
-
Re: (3) Knicks vs. (6) Pistons First Round Playoff Series Thread
It wasn't long ago at all that they got STAT and Melo to choose NY. If they have the cap space they have a shot at almost anyone. Players want to go there because the commercial opportunities for a star in New York are endless. And if a guy plays well for them he gets all the positive press. Jalen Brunson was getting MVP talk on ESPN last season. That would not happen for him on any other team. The Villanova players that got reassembled in the knicks for a commercial that is broadcast all over the country. There is no other team except possibly LA who could get Josh Hart, Mikal Bridges and Dante DiVicenzo on a nationally played commercial.
The supermax was basically created to keep New York, Miami and LA from stealing everyone. If they ever get a great GM they'll be major.
-
Re: (3) Knicks vs. (6) Pistons First Round Playoff Series Thread
Great game minus the Pistons collapsing in the fourth.

Re: (3) Knicks vs. (6) Pistons First Round Playoff Series Thread
Knicks 21-0 run in the 4th where even KAT was playing defense. Love to see it, thank goodness for Cam Payne :oldlol: Bridges still a fraud

Blame it on the Yankees fans for everyone outside NY hating the Knicks. They're probably the third most hated NBA franchise outside their own city except LA and Boston, but the least bandwagoned of the three.

Nah it's all good, we have our share of obnoxious fans. It just means we're always relevant. If the Knicks suck, we'll have people trolling them. If the Knicks are relevant, people will come out of the woodwork to root against them. It is what it is.

Usually is for bigger markets. I just want them to lose because of SAS. If I had a least favorite team it would probably be the Lakers. The closet thing they've had to a rebuild after Kobe got drafted was those bad Lakers teams in Kobes twilight years that never amounted to anything. Then LeBron gets dropped in their lap, then Davis, then when LeBron is on his way out they get gifted a 25 year old Luka to do a mini reset again. They haven't had to rebuild anything with young talent successfully in a quarter of a century or have good drafts and scouting simply because of the market.

Agreed. Laker fans are toxic as hell and also have entitlement issues, they've never really had to suffer for a 10 year stretch... meanwhile we have franchises that haven't even gotten to the finals. They've won enough. We don't need to keep gifting them superstars.

I actually like Knicks fans overall. They're ride or die and know what it's like to have really shitty years recently.

Ny, La and Boston. Always good to see them lose
That said Knicks are loving the Towns trade even more. Pistons has a meltdown in the 4th.

What’s most interesting about this series to me is that Detroit won the regular season series 3-1. Cade scored 29, 36, and 36 in those wins.

We'll see how that translates to the playoffs. I could be wrong, but I think the Knicks lost every single regular season game against the Top 3 teams in the league versus the Thunder, Cavs and Celtics. I wonder if that translates the same way in the playoffs? Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't.

Re: (3) Knicks vs. (6) Pistons First Round Playoff Series Thread
Damn...it's 2 minutes until halftime of game 2 and not one comment. Pistons are balling in MSG.
-
Re: (3) Knicks vs. (6) Pistons First Round Playoff Series Thread
55-49 Pistons at halftime.
I absolutely love what Cunningham did in that last possession at the half. Instead of settling for a three he attacks the teeth of the defense to put actual pressure on the Knicks' defense and gets a bucket at the rim. He's turned out much better than I thought he would since he was drafted.

Re: (3) Knicks vs. (6) Pistons First Round Playoff Series Thread
Part of me sees the Knicks winning this series comfortably and the other part of me sees the Pistons backdoor sweeping this and getting Thibs fired. That would be amazing.

Knicks would be better with a different coach. I don't think Thibs fits this group.

Knicks cut the lead to 8 before the 4th. They were down by like 15.
-
Re: (3) Knicks vs. (6) Pistons First Round Playoff Series Thread
67 points to start the 4th quarter for the Knicks. Their lowest 3 quarter scoring all season.
