IS that right? No one joined in 2024? This is according to the member list (Community->Member List). This place is dying and dying fast. I cannot recollect a time when we could see a post a month old on the first page.
Yet, we have this dumbass little window for new people to register. what's the logic? Filter out bots? Are there not mods for that?
When Jeff opens registrations the bots do tend to go a little wild and I guess he doesn't want to deal with it. But I don't think 2 or 3 accounts spamming AI nonsense should deter from all of the actual members we could be getting. Very easy to handle with actual moderators, which again Jeff doesn't want to bother with for the most part.
This place should be active as hell but instead, yes, dwindles every passing day.

Serious question...I know the occasional bandwidth issues are what forces you to go back and delete so many great old threads but there are some real classics that we keep losing. This has been happening for at least 5 years now. The lore of ISH is what keeps so many of us active and coming back. I know it's easy to think of these threads as dispensable and replaceable but they're not at all.
If there is a financial way to secure more bandwidth that doesn't involve mass deleting ANY threads, I am certain there would be at least a few of us willing to contribute and donate. Hell, I probably would myself.

Being registered here longer than me you should know the answer to this question because come playoff time it's like clockwork. He disables avatars and restricts content from non-registered viewers. During the playoffs the site goes down a lot. You should've notice this when you post getting server errors randomly sometimes, or the site becomes slow.
He restricts content because he's too cheap to upgrade whatever it is that needs upgraded (the forum, the server, the service, etc).

Well of course I know how features have all diminished over time, more so during busy traffic season. But there is no more busy traffic... the members are all gone. Rather than recruit those non-members, we put up walls prevent them from even see ISH during its most active time and make it difficult to even register.
Seems like everything is being done opposite of what makes sense for this forum to thrive.
I don't know jack about server cost, but I mean how much can that cost? This is a forum designed in the 2000s that has been stripped down to barebones. AIM had more features...

This sever will never thrive anymore. It's been dying for over a decade. The moderators have close to no power anymore on moderating because the things they should moderator decrease forum activity and less forum activity means less eyeballs on ads and less money to pay for the server. So banned people who are a nuisance to actual legitimate conversation and debate become unbanned because they're absurd attitude and posting history gets clicks. Stupid threads that get locked get unlocked. Kblaze and RMWG are ISH's version of Nico Harrison in terms of what they want to actually do versus what the admin wants them to do.
Long live all the haters who make countless hater threads starving for attention to show how much they hate a certain player.
Long live all the stans who make countless stan threads giving the reach-around to their idol.

He doesn't care about the forum really. Hasn't for years. In all honesty I'm surprised it's still up. When he made the Pacers/Knicks playoff thread he asked for predictions and I said something to the effect of, "My prediction is the forum will constantly freeze from the crappy servers it runs on with a vBullentin version that is over a decade old."
