ESPN's Around The Horn goes out with a whimper, dies on the woke mountain
As you may or may not know, ESPN's Around The Horn is set to be cancelled in two weeks after an impressive 23 year run.
I have to say when the show first came out I actually enjoyed it more than PTI. I really enjoyed the intensity of the discussions and the ball breaking banter. I even continued watching after Kellerman was replaced with Reali.
I wanna say it was around the time when Bomani Jones became a regular where the show just took a total nosedive. Everything became racial and political and the show started having on more "diverse" members and everyone would go off on these woke tangents. Then they started adding more female cast members into to the mix and before long what used to be a hard hitting show where old school guys duked it out over sports became this very soft, very safe kid glove type show. Trump being elected is what really did them in though. The TDS was just off the charts and the show became unwatchable.
So in the lead-up to the grand finale, as the show is about to be cancelled because everyone jumped ship and no one is watching anymore, here is woke lesbian Kate Fagan talking about the importance of standing up for trans kids and trans athletes.

Bravo Kate. :oldlol:

Was fun while it lasted.

Re: ESPN's Around The Horn goes out with a whimper, dies on the woke mountain
I used to watch it sometimes along time ago and it was decent. I have only watched it a few times in the last years. I still sometimes will put on PTI if I’m doing some stuff around the house and have it in the background.

Re: ESPN's Around The Horn goes out with a whimper, dies on the woke mountain
Everything comes to pass. Every generation sees things it once loved come and go.
Dont let it dishearten you, altho I understand thats easier said than done. Just keep trying to find new enjoyments when the old ones disappear.
It's part of the life experience. Nothing is supposed to stay the same. Once you adjust your expectations accordingly I think it becomes a bit easier to accept.

I know you just wanted to say 'BAD WOKE!" in here but you know what is actually going to get you? When ESPN in it's entirety gets shut down.
Sport Center gone
ESPN 2 gone
ESPNews gone
all of it gone
As well as every other cable channel.
Cable is dying. 5% less viewers every single year.

Re: ESPN's Around The Horn goes out with a whimper, dies on the woke mountain
I stopped watching ATH probably six or seven years ago. I just wasn't ever home to watch it nor did I care about that much to record it or anything.
-
Re: ESPN's Around The Horn goes out with a whimper, dies on the woke mountain
Yea I don't know about the "Woke Mountain", guy. I stopped watching after college really. It was great for its time but there's just more interesting and accessible ways to consume sports content now. Even in its prime it wouldn't work as well now.

So then why isn't PTI being cancelled? In fact when it was first announced ATH was being cancelled, there were rumors circulating that PTI would be expanded to the full hour time slot.

I guess PTI still brings in adequate viewership for them. Not as many woke lesbians browbeating the viewers at home into accepting men in women's sports or putting children on puberty blockers.

Re: ESPN's Around The Horn goes out with a whimper, dies on the woke mountain
Haven't had cable in years so I just assumed ATH was canceled years ago. I watched that show every day after middle school way back in the mid 2000's. I didn't know shows like that still existed in today's age. Woody Paige was the GOAT on that show. He was the likeable Skip Bayless.

But doesn't that undermine your argument? You said that ATH was being cancelled due to a change in how people consume content, but PTI being kept on the schedule because they have likable personalities would totally contradict that claim.
You're only proving my point. People tuned out from ATH because the rotating cast members weren't likable.
-
Re: ESPN's Around The Horn goes out with a whimper, dies on the woke mountain
I don't like the left and I don't like the right but I REALLY don't like the left because some of them are so incredibly brain dead radical like that stupid lesbo in the clip in the OP.
There's a real easy solution to the trans people in sports issue. Just simply abolish gendered sports and that's it.
All the stupid ass women who are the majority of support for this dumbass shit would change their tune quick.
It's either that or we need some men that aren't quite good enough to make it into the men's leagues to start trolling and claiming to be trans so they can dominate the women's leagues.
-
Re: ESPN's Around The Horn goes out with a whimper, dies on the woke mountain
Actually the last time I watched the show I did notice how it seemed to be getting over the top preachy and trying to be deep. Taking itself way too seriously. It succeeded when it stuck to being a fun and frivolous show.

Fair enough, although I’m sure that PTI viewership isn’t near what it once was either. And I’d also imagine it was always a little higher rated than ATH anyway.
Once the show lost the classic folks like Woody Paige, Mariotti, Adande, Cowlishaw, Jackie Macmullen, etc. then people are naturally going to lose interest as well. And on top of that most of the top younger sports content creators now are using different mediums so the new ESPN folks are second-rate.

It should just be up the league itself. They should be able to make their own rules. The Gov should be out of it completely. If they want to make it all genders they can, if they want to check for v@ginas they can. If they want to allow cats and dogs to play they can. It's their sport. The "trans issue" isn't a real issue because it's just a damn game. It's not serious.

Any of us can start our own sports league if we wanted. None of us should have the Gov dictating our sports rules. Needs to be up to the league.

Re: ESPN's Around The Horn goes out with a whimper, dies on the woke mountain
Well the problem comes with stuff like the olympics and high schools/colleges.
The pro leagues just will sort themselves out for the most part. I wonder why they haven't already had trans in the pro leagues eh? Anyone wonder about that?
I'm pretty sure all the WNBA lesbos would not be ok with a trans coming in and dominating their league lol.

This is truly rich. So now you're saying you're perfectly fine if a league doesn't want trans women playing with cis women? So long as it's their decision?
Isn't that still discrimination? Doesn't that trample on the rights of trans people?
I thought the biggest bone of contention was the whole discrimination thing, but now you're saying you're okay with discrimination so long as the government isn't involved? Do you have any moral principle at all? By that same logic, I guess that means you would be okay with some racist white store owner not allowing black people into his store?
Are you even an ally to the trans community or were you pretending the entire time?

I've always said this is a nothing-burger.
None of it matters, it's literally just a game. Humans bouncing or kicking a ball around.
It's just tribal fodder for both sides to pretend they care. When in reality they're are only tiny small handful of people this matters to, and those people will be okay of they can't play a meaningless game. Or if they play their opponents will be okay if they lose that game. Sports in general is just entertainment, and the idea that the Gov should dictate how we play our games is ridiculous. We should be able to play games how ever we want to.

Sports aren’t just about winning trophies, they are a vital part of personal growth and development. For many kids, sports offer life skills such as discipline, teamwork, resilience, and leadership. To dismiss the importance of sports is to overlook how deeply they shape character and help individuals build self esteem and confidence. It's no surprise that some of the most inspirational people in culture are athletes.
Competing in sports also opens doors to scholarships and other professional opportunities. For many people, sports are one of the few ways to access higher education or advance their careers. So there's that too.
So don't say that none of this is important. That's cowardly and that's deflecting from the real issue at hand. It's about preserving the existence of female only spaces and making sure females of all ages have the right to compete fairly. Clearly some part of you agrees with this because you just said you would be okay with excluding trans women. You're really just a giant hypocrite all around.
I predict that in 10 years time you won't be able to find a single person who ever admitted to supporting this insanity. Thankfully their social media posts are etched in history.

None of those things you listed are dependent on the outcome of the game and it's an absolute joke that any one who posts in here pretends to care about this.
How many WNBA games have you watched? This is a basketball forum and even here there is ZERO talk of WNBA.
There are threads for 2017 on the front page of the WNBA forum. But the fairness of their games is of vital importance to you? Give me a break.

If Baller doesn’t watch WNBA…
That means all Woman’s sports at all levels doesn’t mean anything. No life lessons and positive experiences to be gained from. Not positive outlets for girls with not a lot of other opportunities. Literally nothing matters!
Since Baller doesn’t watch WNBA I think it’s safe we can say we can cancel all Women’s sports at every level….because it simply doesn’t matter!

Positive life lessons?
I have adult daughters that played sports growing up. If they faced LeBron James one game it erases it all?
They would have gotten their ass kicked that game, then that night ate dinner and gone to bed. Just like all the other games they lost.
It's literally just a game.

I have three kids, all played sports for lots of reasons, for entertainment, exercise, teamwork, ect.
It's the final score that is meaningless. It's the difference in the general American life that is nothing. What happens in some random girls sport means little them, and absolutely nothing at all to me or you. This subject is literally just meaningless tribal fodder for those who suffer political internet addiction.

Re: ESPN's Around The Horn goes out with a whimper, dies on the woke mountain
It just needs to be the league itself that decides what the rules are. Not the Government.
Leagues should dictate their own games.
No one is forced to play in them. If you don't like the rules? Don't play. It's just a game.
