Lebron is embarrassing himself
Even before this bad game, he wasn't having much impact in the games played this year.
So far these 5 games Lebron has played has been embarrassing. There is zero point to putting a 41 year old Lebron on the court for 32mpg and have him basically do cardio. Lakers need to trade him or he needs to retire if this is the way things go the rest of the year. Lakers aren't winning the title lol.
I really hoped Lebron would retire before he was fully washed but it looks like that isn't happening :facepalm
-
Re: Lebron is embarrassing himself
This should be his last year. I don't think he has enough left for a restart on a new team. Lakers should just make the best of what they can with his final season. LeBron announcing his retirement near his birthday should grant him a final automatic AS appearance (a la Dirk/Wade in 2019), and should bring out all of the rabid fans, giving him and the Lakers HCA basically all games the rest of this season.
That would be his best move for helping them win.

Re: Lebron is embarrassing himself
Meh, its still early. He's coming off a summer of injury rather than training and he hasn't really come out of the gates strong on the back 9 of his career either. Usually takes him some time to ramp up and round into form. And honestly alot of people have been clamoring for him to let Luka take the lead, hes doing that. They said he was going to ruin the roll Reaves is on, he hasn't. If hes not giving more by the later stages of the season, it is what it is. But so far this is a season unlike any other in his basketball life id imagine.

Re: Lebron is embarrassing himself
Lebron at 40:
15/4/7 on 46/55/31
4th option

Re: Lebron is embarrassing himself
It's impossible for ANY team to truly contend if 1 of the players that gets 30+ minutes doesn't move on offense or defense
The Lakers cannot win and have zero chance as long as LeCancer is putting on an NBA uniform

This really does make too much sense. Playing his way into shape and allowing the hot hands to continue to be hot? They're 5-1 since he returned so I'm not sure what the issue is. Weak schedule I know, but still...

Nope
Reaves averaged 28 ppg last year in games without Lebron, and this year Lebron has been told that he's 3rd option so Reaves can do it all year
Lebron has always held Reaves back, and the new ownership is like "no more"

How is this a rebuttal to what I said?
-
Re: Lebron is embarrassing himself
Keeping himself in the game when being blown out just to keep his ****ing 10 point streak alive. Then immediately checks out afterwards. Tragic.
Wtf even gives a shit about 10 point streaks? I'd never seen it mentioned ever before LeBron.
How is this a rebuttal to what I said?
You said Reaves was just hot and implied that lebron would take over at some point
But he won't.. he's washed and is no longer a positive player when he's a top option. He can only be positive at 13 ppg or whatever
But you guys don't really understand the game so you think it's perfectly fine to have a guy playing 30+ minutes that doesn't move in either side of the ball.. he's completely washed and has been since 2019 or at least 2021 when he played really bad against the Suns. He's been bad ever since and the horrible playoff losses for 5 straight years proves it

Not really. He may continue to get into better shape and contribute more in other ways though. Too early to tell but Reaves and Luka have still been scoring well and the team is 5-1 since his return.
So again, what's the problem?

Re: Lebron is embarrassing himself
Not many jobs where you can get 50+ million in one year. That's like 20 times what most people will make in their entire lives. If you are able to play in the NBA you make them tear the jersey off of you, as Max Kellerman used to say. Only mistake James made was not taking his full supermax.

The issue is Lebron, he can anything or doesn't have to do anything at all to trigger weird folk who follow his every step in hatred. I've gotta say the whole negative stan thing has to be the craziest development ive witnessed in my life as a sports fan lol. In the last 5 years or so I've literally learned more negative points about other greats than the whole combined viewing time before because of young fans going back, combing and exposing shit from my era lol. Stuff that guys my generation and older swear Lebron sucks because of and would never happen back then....lol. And they'd probably have never been motivated enough to research if not for guys like 3ball.

Is he playing his way into shape? The Suns performance was super embarrassing. He either needs to play hard for 25mpg or simply sit.
Right now Lebron looks like Ben Simmons without the defense.
If Lebron can't play like a top 25 player in the league, then he should retire. No one would even care if Lebron/the Lakers lucked into a ring playing like a 5th option...
-
Re: Lebron is embarrassing himself
You have to be actively trying to sabotage your team to not get a single rebound in 31 minutes?
He and Ben Simmons are probably two of the only guys I’ve ever seen actually check out of a game after checking in.

Wizards Jordan was so much better than current Lebron it's not even funny.

He's been solid so far pretty sure the Lakers are 4-1 in games he's played

Lebron hasn't been close to solid, are you serious?
15/4/7 on 52.9 TS% while playing 32mpg is trash bro.
He's rocking a 14.5 PER and a NEGATIVE BPM.
He probably hasn't had a 5 game stretch this bad since his rookie year way back in 2003.
I've been saying he just needs to retire and not go out as a washed has been like so many great players before.
I do think he can pick up his individual play, but the Lakers trying to make him 3rd or 4th option is completely retarded and doesn't help Lebron or the team so...
-
Re: Lebron is embarrassing himself
Been saying it since the end of last year. Bro should've retired in the offseason.
It's clear what was going to happen with Luka coming to the team, Reaves being younger/cheaper, and new management. Lebron is being completely pushed out and he was to egotistical to realize it.

Well you might be right the more im seeing. Im trying to give him the benefit of doubt because he cant possibly have his legs under him yet. Probably the longest stretch of not training in his life this summer and at the wrong age for that lol.

Re: Lebron is embarrassing himself
Surely this is the final season man this is just embarrassing now.. the team is much better without him.
Wrap it up enjoy your retirement damn

Re: Lebron is embarrassing himself
I think he will play better as he gets his legs under him, but last year was his last all-nba year. Luka has completely taken over and they're not gonna sacrifice how well Reaves has been playing to give him more touches. I was thinking maybe he would do like 22/7/6 but I'm not even sure about that now( points-wise, anyway)...

I knew he was going to have a terrible year once he was injured before the season and missed the first month. That put him in the worst position that he's ever been in physically since he didn't do anything in the offseason too. It got worse when Luka/AR dominated because then there was risk of Lebron checking out mentally too.
He SHOULD get better as the season goes on, because he simply can't play much worse. But his best month of play still might just look like 19/6/7...which is still far beneath Lebron's brand.
He is currently washed all around. Frankly he should've retired after the 2024 Olympics...

That statline is about where I think he will end up as well, on reduced TS% from what we've come to expect. And really, with Luka and Reaves good for 60-65ppg by themselves, that's really all they need from him. At this point he should be playing more like a super Draymond, put most of his energy on defense and be, as 3ball likes to call it, bird-fed offensively.

you guys don't get it - he's WASHED - his drop-off is more severe because he's a bigger guy that still relied on speed... if the lakers play him more than twenty minutes, they lose to any good team.. you'll see.. any game where he plays 30 minutes or whatever against a real team - the Lakers will get their doors blown off.. Lebron is atrocious and it exposes his lack of IQ or knowledge of playing off-ball.. He just stands there like a kindergartener - i bet that's the last time he didn't have the ball in his hands and wasn't the primary ballhandler for his team.. I've honestly never seen worse basketball from a star player.. I never thought I'd say this, but Lebron is even worse than Portland Pippen.. That's pretty horrible - again, the worst basketball from a star player EVER - he's the worst ever

What about my comment led you to believe I think otherwise? Worse stats, super Draymond, bird-fed. That wasn't expressed that way as a compliment.
