If young people want more affordability, they should get jobs
Good article
------------------
Polls show that the age group of Americans most worried about “affordability” are the 20- and 30-somethings. That’s young millennials and Gen Z.
Why are they so financially stressed out? One reason things seem so unaffordable to young people is that too many aren’t working hard — they are hardly working.
The latest Labor Department data indicate that fewer and fewer males between the ages 16 and 24 are in the labor force. It used to be that more than 70% had a job; now less than 60% do.
Labor force participation for men even into their 30s is at or near an all-time low. Men without jobs is a prescription for social chaos.
I would argue this is the most important age for a man to be hard at work, honing his job skills and on the way to a career that makes him a suitable marriage partner. Marriage rates for young men are down as well. Their lack of work experience and a successful career trajectory is one major reason why.
The earlier in life that men (and women) start working, the more successful they are likely to be in their careers, and the higher their lifetime earnings will be.

Re: If young people want more affordability, they should get jobs
The epitome example of this issue is Japan, where youth have stopped working for a miriad of reasons. I think we are seeing those start to mirror here. First World issue. When you have a strong upper class it drives the cost of living up, lower tier jobs aren't enough to house yourself, thus they don't bother working because they would be living with their parents either way.
There are other factors as well though. 10% of the adult population are millionaire status also just creates a generation that don't need to work in order to survive. Previous generations had no choice.

Re: If young people want more affordability, they should get jobs
Every single american is no more than 2-4 years away from having a decent paying career if you put in the time to learn a skill or trade.
It's not sexy and you won't be flaunting name brands on Instagram like your favorite influencer but you will be able to make a decent living. Plus you could always work your way up and maybe even go into business for yourself.
-
Re: If young people want more affordability, they should get jobs
Typical old MAGAS telling young people to work at jobs that do not pay a living wage will solve everyone's problems.

Great for the job market. Great for the economy.

Trump didn't endorse lockdowns dumbass.
Are you saying Trump should have gone full dictator and cucked the blue state governors? He should have forced them to keep their states open? He should have forced the teachers unions to go back to work?
You would have been crying like a bitch about that too.

Yes he is, because democrats proved during Covid that they would do whatever it takes to sabotage him. Even if it meant destroying the country. You created this monster we have now.
But what are saying? Are you backtracking now? Are you saying Trump should have did this during his first term now?

trump only did all of this destruction now for his personal economic gain, but he didn't do it when it would have actually mattered.

Oh so you're saying he should have taken control during the pandemic and forced blue states to stay open?
So you admit the lockdowns were bullshit?

Re: If young people want more affordability, they should get jobs
The covid lockdowns (which have jack f@#king shit to do with the thread topic) were mostly insignificant simply because people weren't going out during covid anyway.
Las Vegas suffered the most during covid everyone was completley free to fly there and gamble. They just didn't.

This thread is about the economy. Your boyfriend said that Trump is the one who destroyed the economy.
Reality: Covid lockdowns destroyed the economy.
The democrats were the lockdown party. Take accountability for your part in this.

Re: If young people want more affordability, they should get jobs
The thread is about the labor force participation of young people, and covid was 5 f@#kin years ago. Also the lockdowns weren't shit, it was adding a bajjilion dollars to circulation that caused inflation and house prices to sky rocket, and that is something that Trump is doing again with his Big Beautiful Bill. His spending and his tariffs are the biggest influences on the economy today, stop pointing at Democrats, grow some balls and take ownership.

Stimulus checks to everyone. Same thing he is planning to do with $2k checks to everyone as a big tariff celebration.
Most businesses got to apply for covid loans that they had to pay back if that is where you are going. And many simply moved to online and work at home.

But you voted for Trump because he said he would fix the economy on Day 1.

Re: If young people want more affordability, they should get jobs
In real time they cheered the lockdowns.
Those that pushed back were called evil, and somehow racist and sexist. The economy wasn't important they said.
Now flash forward just a few short years, and they wanna give us a lecture about how they're the ones who care about the economy. :oldlol: :oldlol: :oldlol:

trump's economic policy will result in worse repercussions than the covid lockdowns. he's essentially locking down our economy through tariffs and sabotage. but regardless, he is behind both.
-
Re: If young people want more affordability, they should get jobs
"We care about the economy now, honest. This has nothing to do with me hating Donald Trump..."
:oldlol:

of course no direct response, just deflect and evade.

Re: If young people want more affordability, they should get jobs
If you cheered on the lockdowns as they were happening in real time then I think you lose the right to say that you care about the state of the economy. :oldlol:
I think you're financially comfortable regardless. I think your new sudden "concern" as it pertains to the economy is performative and fake.

Re: If young people want more affordability, they should get jobs
I wasn't posting here in 2020 you moron, I'm basing that assumption off the fact that you are a mindless lemming who cheers on and supports the democrats no matter what. I also know that what really drives you above all is your seething hatred of Donald Trump and his voters. The lines were drawn pretty thick during Covid and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know which side you were on. :oldlol:
Now you're trying to blame Trump for the lockdowns. "B-b-but why didn't he force the blue states to stay open!?!?" :oldlol:
Who do you think you children are fooling??

Oh so you think the lockdowns were an awful idea? You didn't support them? Trump and the republicans were right to push back on them?
